You're My Only Star

The guests started coming to the house around lunch hour. Most of the guests were Ye Ling Feng's family and close friends. Most of them brought along the younger generations in their family.

Song Xing Xing was still checking the preparation for her mother's birthday when her cousins' children started to pester her to play with them.

In the end, she could only let Song Wei and Lu Xun look at the preparation as she go and entertained the bunch of kids. The kids dragged her outside and started to play hide and seek. Soon, the other kids saw that they were having fun and started to join them as well.

Song Xing Xing had once again turned to the kids' leader and decided to play games together.

Ye Ling Feng watched as her daughter laughed happily as she played with the children and sighed. Among her siblings, Ye Ling Feng was the only one who still had no grandchildren. Seeing her siblings carrying their grandchildren in their arms made her feel jealous.

Her daughter was very good with children and she also hope that the girl would get married quickly and have kids.

"Hey, hey, Ling Feng."

Hearing that someone was calling her name, Ye Ling Feng snapped out of her trance. She turned to her friends and flashed them an amiable smile. However, once she saw that her friend, Yang Xiao staring back at her with stars in her eyes gave her a bad feeling.

"What's wrong?"

Yang Xiao shifted her gaze to another direction. The smile on her face widened. "Who is that young man? He's quite good-looking. Why don't you introduce him to me? You know that my daughter is approaching her thirties soon but still unmarried. I think this young man would be perfect for my daughter."

Ye Ling Feng followed her friend's gaze and instantly, her eyes turned darker. However, her friend does not seem to see the look in her eyes as Yang Xiao kept on talking about matching her unmarried daughter to this man.

However, hearing that her friends started to join in and praised this handsome young man, Ye Ling Feng felt a little happier. At this time, Ye Ling Feng could not help praising her daughter for having such good taste.

She straightened up her posture and called, "Lu Xun."

The bespectacled man turned around, startling the middle-aged ladies. A second later, he walked over to them with his long legs. Seeing the handsome young man approaching, Ye Ling Feng's friends began to feel excited.

A few of them were suddenly regretting that they had not spoken earlier. Or else, they too would have the chance to pair their daughter to them.

"Sister-in-law, you know him?" Ye Ling Feng's sister-in-law, Chu Zhi, spoke. Her heart skipped a beat upon recalling the name that Ye Ling Feng had spoken. However, when she thought that Lu Xun seemed to be a common name, Chu Zhi quickly shook that thought off her mind.

Lu Xun nodded his head to the group of ladies as his form of greetings. Then, he turned to look at her mother-in-law. Although he was still puzzled as to why he was called, Lu Xun continued to smile at them.

"Everyone, let me introduce you," Ye Ling Feng paused. The smile on her face widened. "This is Lu Xun, my son-in-law."

A light flickered in Lu Xun's eyes and the corner of his lips tilted up a little. His heart skipped a beat as he was excited to be introduced to this group of ladies as Ye Ling Feng's son-in-law. Getting his mother-in-law's approval and recognition was something he should be happy about.

Lu Xun nodded at the ladies again and greeted, "Hello."

Meanwhile, the group of ladies had a puzzled look in their eyes.

"Your son-in-law?" Chu Zhi turned to her sister-in-law with a puzzled look on her face. A few seconds later, her eyes brightened up. "Is Xing Xing getting married?"

Ye Ling Feng patted at Lu Xun's arms. "That's right. I forgot to tell you that my daughter, Song Xing Xing is getting married to Lu Xun soon. Ladies, when we finally decide on the wedding date, we will surely send out invitation cards."

The ladies gave Lu Xun a look over. Although this young man seemed a little bit older to be paired with Ye Ling Feng's daughter, none of them said a thing. Seeing that their friend seemed very happy with this son-in-law, the ladies began to congratulate Ye Ling Feng.

They stopped Lu Xun for a chat and asked him a lot of questions, mostly about his relationship with Song Xing Xing.

Seeing the way Lu Xun would glance at Song Xing Xing with a warm look in his eyes, the ladies decided to give up trying to poach him as their son-in-law.

"Lu Xun, this name sounded familiar," Yang Xiao spoke. She turned to Lu Xun and smiled. "It couldn't be that you are the President of NEXT Group, right?"

The ladies exchanged their glances. Although they don't pay much attention towards what the entertainment news, they have heard their husband mention this company a few times.

It was said that the President came to Capital City and invested his money into a lot of business. The man was said to have good insight. Each of the projects he invested in gave a huge return.

"Yes. That's me."

The ladies turned to Ye Ling Feng with envy.

Her daughter was going to marry a very capable man. Although they were happy for their friend, they could not help but feel a little jealous. Moreover, from their brief interaction with Lu Xun, they could see that this young man had good manners and attitude.

The ladies continued to chat with Lu Xun for a long time and only stopped once Song Xing Xing and Song Wei came out with a three-tier birthday cake on the trolley.

Everyone started to sing a happy birthday song for Ye Ling Feng and spoke a few auspicious words. Soon, Song Chen came out with a large bouquet of roses.

Ye Ling Feng looked at the person she had been married to for twenty-seven years and blushed.

Seeing that everyone was surrounding her mother and the kids' attention had moved towards the birthday cake, Song Xing Xing went to look for Lu Xun.

She stood beside him and noticed the faint smile on his face. "You look very happy. What's up?"

"It's your mother's birthday. Shouldn't I be happy?"

Song Xing Xing narrowed her eyes. "I heard my mother's friends were trying to poach you as their son-in-law. What should I do? Even my mother's friends are attracted to you."

Lu Xun laughed. "Where did you hear that?" Seeing that the girl continued to shoot him an unhappy look, Lu Xun grabbed her hand and intertwined their fingers. "I'm already yours. Even if someone tried to steal me away, I won't leave."

Hearing him coaxing her with sweet words, Song Xing Xing's heart began to feel more at ease.
