Chapter 65 - I REALLY LOVE YOU, ELLE

After finishing taking the medicine, Lucas immediately returned to his wife's room. He seemed to be sitting beside the patient's bed while observing the face of Ellena who was now lying down with her eyes closed in front of him.

The corners of Lucas' lips seemed to lift into a smile, when he saw the face of his wife who was so calm and soothing. Ellena did seem to be sleeping so soundly that Lucas didn't have the heart to wake her up, even if it was just to give her some medicine.

The longer the gaze deepened, even Lucas was reluctant to turn his face the other way. A smile formed on his cheeks, revealing a glint of happiness on his face. His heart warmed as he watched the face of the innocent figure in front of him.

'So lucky whoever got your heart, Elle.' Lucas started to whisper in his heart.

Anxiety flashed across Lucas' face. In fact, the handsome face that had always looked firm was now suddenly so gloomy. The age of his marriage with Ellena has just reached two months, which means that they only have four months left of their togetherness.

Somehow for Lucas the time four months was too short for a togetherness. If he may ask, he wants to extend his marriage contract with Ellena. However, that seemed impossible, considering how much prestige he had. To just confess his feelings, it was too difficult for him. In fact, he often denied all these feelings.

It's not easy to admit feelings to new people in our lives, especially Lucas, who had previously believed and believed that his heart was only for Selena. Everything he experienced in the near future, like a joke that deliberately played with his life.

Funny indeed. He has been trapped in a household with no clear direction and purpose. Somehow he has to balance every current of life that is increasingly torturing himself and his feelings. Until in the end, he found a room that would become a place for him to end up, although until this moment he did not know who would be the home for him to return.

'There's nothing wrong with our meeting. Maybe this is God's way of eradicating bad memories that almost drove me crazy, namely by bringing you into my life. I don't know what God is planning for us after that. To be clear, I'm not ready to lose you anytime soon.' Lucas whispered to himself, then took a deep breath.

'You're too precious for me to just let go, Elle, but you're also too precious for me to hold on to. I'm not the right man for you, but you need to know one thing that I have a very strong love. In fact, stronger than I've ever felt before, even if you're not my first. I can't imagine what will happen after we part. That's really hard on me, Elle. Maybe I'll be crazier than ever, when I face the days without you.'

The fear of losing is increasingly haunting Lucas at this time. On the one hand, he is very afraid of losing the woman who has succeeded in replacing Selena in his heart. However, on the other hand, he was also afraid that his feelings would hurt Ellena even more. Lucas knew who the man his wife loved. Of course it won't be that easy for him to replace Keenan's position in Ellena's heart.

Lucas seemed to caress the top of Ellena's head very slowly and gently, hoping that Ellena wouldn't wake up because of him. Before he knew it, his eyes were already filled with tears to stem the tears he had been holding back for a long time. Wasn't his life so sad?

Yes, of course. Loving in silence is the most painful thing for every human being, even with Lucas. Moreover, he harbored feelings for the figure of the wife who currently lives with him. Ah, he never thought that he would face such a complicated love story.

'I realize love is not a matter of having, but can I be selfish once again, Elle? I want to be selfish and keep you by my side. Give me a chance to stay alive with you and let this all flow properly until we know what the end of our story will be. No matter how painful it is, at least I'm grateful for having known an amazing person like you. I love you, Elle. I really, really love you,'

Congested. That's how Lucas felt right now. Was he such a loser that he couldn't express that one sentence directly to Ellena, the woman who was now legally his wife?

"Lucas?" Ellena's voice suddenly snapped Lucas out of his thoughts. Reflexively he removed his hand from the woman's head.

"Are you awake?" Lucas asked in a slightly hoarse voice. However, Ellena looked at him in surprise.

"Lucas, are you crying?" Ellena's question this time managed to make Lucas pause for a moment, then turned his face away as if to hide his sad expression from Ellena.

"N-no. How could I cry." Lucas turned his head back to Ellen, after he had managed to neutralize his feelings.

"But that your eyes look watery?" Ellena pointed at Lucas eyes which still looked a little red and teary.

Lucas reflexively brushed away the slightly pooled water in the corner of his eye. "I'm gullible, be like this." He answered a little nervously and was immediately responded by a nod of his head by Ellena.

"You slept so soundly that I didn't dare disturb you." Lucas said deliberately trying to change the subject.

"I just realized that I fell asleep. I had a headache earlier, Lucas. I don't know since when I fell asleep." Ellena replied while holding her head which still felt dizzy.

"You'd better take some medicine first. Maybe the dizziness in your head will get better soon." Lucas helped Ellena to sit back down. He took the medicine from the nightstand. He then gave the medicine with a glass of water to Ellena.

"Are your eyes getting better?" asked Ellena after she finished taking the medicine.

"As you can see." Lucas replied as he flashed a smile as if to reassure Ellena.

Again Ellena nodded her head, not wanting to ask any further questions. Ah, she was so innocent that she simply believed what Lucas said.

"Lucas," Ellena called which suddenly made Lucas focus on her eyes.

"What?" Lucas hissed as he leaned his head forward.

"Umm ...." Ellena hung up as if she was thinking about something.

"Why?" Lucas, who had been waiting for an answer all this time, seemed so curious about Ellena's answer.

Instead of answering Lucas' question, Ellena was silent for a moment. It seemed, there was something she wanted to ask Lucas. However, she was hesitant to reveal it.

"What are you doing? Anything you want to ask?" Lucas' question instantly made Ellena flinch.

"Oh yes." Ellena looked away for a moment before she continued. "How is my mother doing now?" She asked then.

Lucas took a deep breath. Turns out that's what Ellena asked. He thought the woman would ask about the incident before he took the medicine earlier. Oh, to be honest. He really hoped that Ellena would ask him that directly. If that was the case, he intended to express all his feelings right then and there. However, it seems that is not possible. 'How could Ellena care about that." He thought.

"Mother's condition is still the same as before, Elle. Be patient, Mother will soon be healthy again." Lucas answered.

Just as Ellena was about to respond to Lucas, suddenly the door to the room opened. This immediately caught their attention.

"Mommy?" said Ellena and Lucas in unison.

"Elle!" Veronica shouted as she approached Ellena and Lucas.

Veronica immediately rushed to hug Ellena's body who was sitting on the patient's bed.

"Elle, what happened to you, Honey? Are you all right?" Veronica asked, hugging her daughter-in-law.

"I'm fine. Mommy knows who I'm here for?" Ellena asked, casting an astonished look at Lucas. She really did not know if his mother-in-law would come to see her.

Veronica seemed to stretch her body, then looked sadly at Ellena's face. From her gaze, it could be seen that she loved her daughter-in-law very much. She then recounted the incident before going to the hospital to Ellena.

"Mommy shouldn't have bothered to visit me. I'm fine, just a little dizzy and weak." Ellena answered simply.

"Are you dizzy and weak?" Veronica looked at Ellena probingly.

Meanwhile, Ellena just nodded her head in response.

"Are you nauseous too?" Veronica asked a little enthusiastically.

"Nauseous?" Ellena thought for a moment. "Just a little bit, Mom." She replied then.

"Really?" Veronica seemed to be trying to convince and again Ellena nodded her head. "Could you be pregnant?" She added which suddenly made Ellena and Lucas instantly dumbfounded.

"Pregnant?" Ellena and Lucas stared at each other for a moment.

"Yeah, right. Why? Something's wrong? Aren't you two husband and wife. So, isn't it natural that you're pregnant?" Veronica replied while looking at Ellena and Lucas alternately.

"Yeah, but it doesn't seem possible, Mom." Lucas didn't believe his mother's words. Yes of course. What had he done, so that Ellena could be pregnant?

"Why is that?" Veronica again cast a probing glance at Lucas.

"N-that's not it, Mom. Lucas meant that the doctor didn't say I was pregnant. I was just plain nauseous, due to the effects of my stomach relapse. Isn't that right, Lucas?" Ellena glanced at Lucas, demanding an approval of the explanation she had told her mother-in-law.

"Yes, it is true." Lucas answered curtly.

A look of disappointment suddenly appeared on Veronica's face. To be honest, that wasn't what she wanted to hear. She hoped her guess was right, but it turned out to be wrong.

"Sister!"

Before Veronica had time to express her disappointment, Martin suddenly entered the room with a pretty panicked expression. It suddenly made the three of them turn their heads, especially Veronica who looked so surprised by the presence of a young man who was very foreign to her.

"Sister?" Veronica wore a curious expression. "Who is he, Elle?" She asked, focusing her eyes on Ellena.

Ellena was silent for a moment.. She did not know what to answer and how to explain to her mother-in-law about the figure of her young brother.
