Chapter 188 – WHAT DID YOU DO?

Lucas walked very quickly, as soon as he got out of the car parked in front of his parents' yard. His face reddened and his jaw hardened, indicating that he was harboring such deep anger.

In addition, both hands were tightly clenched, showing the hardened veins around his arms. Everything is clear.

Lucas pushed open the nipple-colored wooden door, which towered over him. With just one strong push, the door swung wide open revealing the figures of Albert and Veronica inside.

Albert was sitting on the sofa enjoying a cup of espresso coffee, while Veronica seemed to be standing and was just about to approach her husband. However, her steps suddenly stopped, when she found Lucas who appeared suddenly.

The middle-aged couple swiftly turned to Lucas. It was clear in their eyes how their son's expression was now.

Albert stared in surprise, then put the coffee cup in his hand down on the table slowly, without taking his eyes off Lucas.

Meanwhile, Veronica, who was still standing a few meters from the table, was suddenly stunned to see her son's confused face.

"Lucas?" Veronica whispered a little shocked, but for a moment she developed a smile on her face, as if she wanted to welcome the arrival of her son, although Lucas' attitude and expression made her quite surprised.

Lucas stopped in front of Albert with a sharp glare at Veronica. It seemed that he no longer cared about his father's presence there. However, he must immediately resolve the problem with his mother.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" Veronica asked still looking relaxed. Either she didn't want to show a worried expression in front of Lucas.

Meanwhile, Albert still had no comment. He still faithfully observed his son who was clearly not in a good condition. That was why Albert still didn't want to speak, hoping that Lucas would speak first.

It was the first time in his life that Albert had seen Lucas show such anger directly in front of him. He didn't know what had made his son so angry, he clearly believed that the reason was because of something important in Lucas' life.

Instead of answering Veronica's question, Lucas's breath seemed to be getting more intense as if he was still trying to suppress his rising anger.

"What's wrong, Lucas? Did something happen?" asked Albert, just to be sure.

Lucas glanced briefly at Albert with the same gaze as before, but only for a moment. He then turned his gaze back to Veronica, with no intention of responding to her father's question.

"Why are you looking at me like that, Lucas?" Veronica asked starting to realize the anger that was taking over her son right now.

"What do you mean, Mommy? Why do you have the heart to do all this to me, huh? Am I not your son anymore?" Lucas immediately attacked his mother with a few questions.

This was no time for small talk, he needed Veronica's explanation right now about the information he had just received from Adley's confidant a few minutes ago.

Yes, as soon as Adley gave a video recording of the meeting between Veronica and Selena, without thinking Lucas immediately left his office and intended to meet his mother. Even though Aldey had tried to hold back, Lucas still didn't want to listen and insisted on seeing Veronica.

Somehow Raymond, Adley's confidant, was able to get hold of the videotape. However, what is clear that the video means a lot to Lucas. At least he could prove that his suspicions against his mother were true.

Lucas wanted to not believe it, but the video recording of Veronica's meeting with Selena two days ago, clearly proved that Veronica was the reason behind Ellena's departure from home.

"What do you mean, Lucas?" Veronica asked still not realizing her mistake.

"Don't pretend, Mommy. I know it all!" Lucas said impatiently with the attitude of his mother who looked as if he didn't feel guilty.

"What do you mean, Lucas? What's wrong with your mother?" Albert got up as he approached Lucas who was still standing in the same place looking furiously at Veronica.

"Are you in big trouble? Tell me, what's your problem? Don't act like that, she's your mother. You shouldn't yell at the woman who gave birth to you, Lucas." Albert said, patting Lucas on the shoulder once. Besides trying to calm him down, Albert was also trying to calm him down.

Lucas glanced at his father for a moment, without the slightest smile etched on his face. "Do I still deserve respect to her, Dad? When she's ruined my life like this?"

Lucas swiftly took his cell phone out of the pocket of the blue tuxedo he was wearing, then raised the flat object in the air, pointing it at Veronica and Albert.

"Do I need to prove it first, then you'll admit it?" Lucas asked, looking at Veronica's face cynically.

"Okay, Mommy, I'll do as you wish." Lucas added later, while Veronica still didn't understand what Lucas meant. He didn't seem to notice that someone was monitoring his activities all this time.

Veronica's eyes widened as soon as Lucas played the video recording herself with Selena.

"Thank you, Selena, because of your help, Ellena finally left the house. My son really doesn't deserve to live with a bitch like him."

That's a glimpse of the video footage that Veronica said to Selena.

"Vero, what have you done to Ellena? So she left because of you?" asked Albert directly rebuking his wife, when the video was still not finished playing.

Veronica looked away with a very nervous expression. She seemed nervous to answer questions from her husband. "Th-that's n-no—"

"Tell me the truth, Veroica!" concluded Albert while raising his voice.

As cruel as Albert was, he never condoned any criminal behavior, especially if it was committed by his own family. Even his wife, he would never heed the act.

"I don't know what Ellena did to you, so you did that to her." Lucas snapped while still judging his mother.

The tape evidence seemed to corner Veronica, so she couldn't move at all. Even dodging seemed impossible for him to do. Now he is still silent, unable to explain.

"Answer it, Vero. Why did you do that to our daughter-in-law. What's wrong with her, don't you love Ellena a lot, huh?" Albert said again demanding an explanation from his wife.

"A-Albert, Lucas, this is not what you think. I did it because of your kindness demonstration, Lucas." Veronica explained, looking nervous.

"What kindness do you mean, Mommy? Do you see that I'm fine without Ellena?" Lucas replied not wanting to lose. "You have no idea how devastated I've been all this time, even I can't sleep because every night think about my wife. Is that what you call being okay, Mommy?" He added angrily.

Lucas couldn't believe his mother would talk like that so easily. Doesn't Veronica know that it's best for her son to live with the person he loves?

"What kind of mother doesn't know at all what is best for her child!"

"Shut up, Lucas! I'm not as bad as you think!" said Veronica did not accept her son's words.

"I don't want to see you two fighting over this matter. Now tell me what made you do that to Ellena, Veronica? What has Ellena done to make you dare to kick her out?" asked Albert again lowering his tone.

Albert really didn't want to see a fight between his wife and son. However, they are both very important in his life.

"Is it because she's poor?"

Albert's question this time managed to make Lucas and Veronica turn their heads. Of course they were surprised, how did Albert find out that Ellena came from a poor family.

"Dad?"

"You shouldn't be surprised, Lucas. I've known that for a long time, it's just that I was waiting for you to explain everything. I'm sure that you're an adult and know what you should and shouldn't do. that's what's best for you and I don't want to interfere in that matter." Albert explained as if he understood the meaning of Lucas' gaze.

"Thanks, Dad," Lucas whispered.

"So, can you explain it, Vero?" Albert looked back at Veronica.
