There was a stare-down between Xavier and the Butler.
Xavier, who was holding three swords, began to giggle and drool as he dug his heels into the ground. As he prepared to attack, muscles bulged from his neck, arm, and legs.
[Berserk State Activate.]
Meanwhile, the butler took a different stance. With an assertive posture, he stood upright. Putting his left arm behind his back, he raised the Rapier, positioning it right in front of his chest.
While the butler closed his eyes, the Vampires standing on the bridge watched nervously. It was impossible to predict the outcome.
*Snap*
As the butler’s eyes snapped open, Xavier kicked off the ground, his entire figure blurring through even the eyes of a Low-Ranking Vampire as he launched himself at him.
Rather than stepping back or trying to avoid it, the butler grinned as he thrust his sword forwards towards Xavier.
*CLAAAANGGG!!!!*
A loud clang resounded at the bottom of the bridge, causing strong winds to burst forth. The Vampires widened their eyes in surprise as they looked down the bridge.
A third figure appeared. It was a dark blonde-haired girl with deep crimson red eyes in a maid outfit.
She had appeared in between the two with her arm stretched out towards the both of them. She was surrounded by a thick barrier that stopped not only Xavier but also the butler.
“Isn’t that enough for a test, head butler?” She asked as him with a cold smile.
After seeing her cold look, the butler sighed. “You’re right, perhaps I did get a little too excited… But Anastasia… If I hadn’t put up my barrier… You could have gotten hurt.”
She glanced over at Xavier was on the other side of her. The feral look on his face intensified as he dug further and further into the barrier with his sword.
The butler and maid’s eyes narrowed, their expressions growing serious as the cracks progressed to the point where it was about to shatter.
“See?” The butler asked with a smile.
Once again, the maid stared coldly at the butler. “Do you really think I can’t tell that you’re holding back?”
“The Vampires up there have called for back-up. We need to remove any trace that we were here before the other camp’s back up arrives so I kindly ask that you stop playing around.”
*Shatter!*
The barrier shattered, and Xavier’s three swords descended upon the maid’s figure. Even so, the expression on her face did not change.
*SWOOSH!*
A gust of wind blew past her, Xavier had halted mid-air as three barriers had manifested around him, stopping and trapping him.
While trapped on the inside, he took swing after swing, gradually shattering one barrier after another, but whenever he did, another two barriers would simply come into place to replace them.
“You should relax more often, stress is bad for your youth…”
Veins bulged out of the side her neck. “I am aware of that…”
Exhaling a deep breath, as she looked at Xavier, she casually muttered. “Sleep.”
Through a cut on her arm, strange, barely visible chemicals were being secreted and directed at Xavier. The chemicals entered the barrier through the gaps and had filled it.
[Pheromone Manipulation: Sleep-inducing secretion.]
Xavier’s movements became sluggish after shattering the eigth barrier, he was both slowing down and calming down.
In just a few moments, Xavier’s movements ceased.
The maid let out a sigh of relief before looking at the butler.
“Looks like he finally fell asleep… So, did he pass?” She asked.
“With flying colours… He’s worth keeping alive… Probably worth the young lady’s time too.” The butler replied as he picked up the barrier with the sleeping Xavier inside.
“Then let us return to the young lady at once…”
*Badum* *Badum* *Badum*
Pheromone manipulation. The ability to manipulate and secrete pheromones, chemicals that can react and trigger a social response in the target.
This chemical reaction can induce sleep upon an individual, even for Xavier the sleep would be hard to resist.
Contrary to what they knew, Xavier had not fallen asleep but had rather calmed down, leaving his [Berserk State] as an additional effect.
[Berserk State Deactivated.]
Though his eyelids felt sluggish, he tried his best not to fully close them.
‘Fuck… I lost control during the berserk state… Just like with the time I became a ghoul… Even my fighting style changed to shit…’
‘However i was stronger and faster… Yet even with it…’
‘The butler was able to restrain me… What the fuck is he? Or more importantly… Who the hell are the Redbloods?’
Xavier faked his sleep while being carried away while he patiently waited for an opportunity to strike.
He had heard something about it being a test and how they would return him to Sangrea, but he didn’t trust it.
‘Either way I was able to complete my objective… I was able to save them… The only problem is that I couldn’t find dad… I thought I found his scent but i never felt it again… Was I just imagining it?’
‘It’s entirely likely that he’s dead…’
Xavier had come to the conclusion that he’d been trying to avoid.
Memories of the good times he had with his father flashed by his mind as clenched his hands into fists.
‘Fucking damn it…’ Xavier cursed as he cried from the inside of barrier. ‘I’ll keep them safe dad… I promise… Just like how I avenged you…’
Whilst the tears streamed down his face, a notification that Xavier had not heard in a while, suddenly popped up.

“Hey… Where did they go?”
An eerie mist covered everything below, preventing them from seeing what had happened.
“Why’s this mist so thick? I can’t see anything..” Asked the Vampires as they looked down from the top of the bridge.
As he stared at the mist, the Unit commander narrowed his eyes.
“They’re gone… It seems they’ve already escaped.”
*Step* *Step* *Step*
The sound of approaching footsteps attracted the attention of the Vampires, as well as the commanders.
As they turned towards it, their eyes widened.
The figure of a young boy with spiky short Pearl black berry colored hair was seen walking down the steps of the palace entrance. He wore a tiny black suit and a mask with a drawing of a smile
He was accompanied by a cloaked squad who also wore masks. On their masks were drawings of a frown.
“That’s… The noble, Marquess Luther!”
In that instant, all the Vampires on sight bowed before the young boy.
It was a high-ranking Vampire noble. High-ranking nobles did not all become vampire lords. Some found the role too complicated and full of responsibilities. A vampire lord was not necessarily stronger than a noble, it was all a title and rank at the end of the day.
The Vampire Lord which Xavier had defeated was ranked Earl as a normal and even then he was ranked at the lowest of the low as a Vampire Lord when he became one.
“Hm~ I can’t believe that with all these Vampires here, I was still called out here… From going to the front lines over to this place… What is the duke thinking by always making me run his errands.”
“Master Luther, I believe you should refrain from such comments in public.” Whispered a female voice from the squad behind him.
“Who cares about that? More importantly…”
The marquess turned to the Vampires bowed around him.
“Why are you all bowing…? If they’ve escaped go look for them.” Said the marquess with his young innocent sweet voice.
However, despite how innocent or sweet it may have sounded, the bloodlust which was delivered through it sent shivers down each and every one of their spines.
“You heard him! Send the patrol units out! Find them! Guard the palace and make sure nothing goes through!” Yelled the commander.
The marquess who saw this, nodded in approval before appearing before the commander and placing his hand over his shoulder.
“You, you’re in charge here right? Is it true that the Redbloods are involved with this incident?” He asked.
“T-That is correct.” The commander responded.
A smile grew on Luther’s face from beneath the mask. “Hmm~ Maybe this wasn’t a waste of time… Good thing I stayed here instead of getting deployed to America or whatnot.”
“I wonder what the Redbloods are thinking? Do they want the major families and queen to make a move?”
