My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You

Chapter 245 - Your Son Has Disappeared!

After the incident where he accidentally found Yan Jihuan on his bed, Jin Renguang had sworn upon his dignity that he wouldn't drink anymore for the rest of his life. However, that night after returning home, he did. What dignity did he have left?

The house still had residual warmth and vitality in it. The dishes which Jin Renguang had only done halfway before Yan Jihuan suddenly screamed for help still piled up messily in the sink, the colorful ball of yarns she was planning to knit for their future children spread out on the table, heaps of baby clothes, toys and the baby room which Jin Renguang still hesitated on whether to paint in soft blue or mint green…

He stood on the doorway and memories of the past few months came rushing back like a tsunami, inducing another earth shattering headache. He left the dishes alone, threw the yarns into the trash bin and swept their wedding photos down. Only then could he feel like breathing again.

This wouldn't do. The house just felt too suffocating to him at this moment.

His phone rang continuously and he gave a glance to find his mother calling. Jin Renguang massaged his temple and shut his phone down with almost no hesitation. He turned heels and drove into a bar he frequented, opened a private room and drowned himself in alcohol.

As if wanting to erase the image of the blonde and blue eyed baby in his mind away. As if wanting to dilute the throbbing ache deep inside his heart...

He didn't know what to feel. There was immense relief upon knowing he hadn't touched Yan Jihuan, but there's also a strong sense of betrayal everytime he recalled Yan Jihuan's confession. It was a lie if he said he could obliterate his feelings for her in a blink of an eye, those were feelings he had cultivated with much difficulty for months. However, precisely because the feeling still remained, it was harder for him to accept reality.

The owner of the bar was one of his former comrades who had retired due to injury and ended up opening a business. Upon seeing Jin Renguang's devastated state, he shook his head and left him alone.

Jin Renguang didn't know how many bottles he had downed. He drank liquor like water, forcing the spiciness and astringent taste to cover the bitterness in his tongue.

Time passed unknowingly, and when Jin Renguang came to again, he felt a hammering headache enough to kill and his whole body was so sore as if he had just been run over by a truck.

His comrade walked back and forth to clean up his mess. Jin Renguang roused from the floor and rotated his neck, cracks sounded one after another from his sore body. "What time is it?" He said with his hoarse and scratchy voice.

"Awake?" The man spared him a glance before pointing at the phone on the table. "You should call someone to take you home, buddy. You're too wasted."

Jin Renguang couldn't care less. He flopped onto the couch, groaning in pain. After resting his eyes for a few moments, he reached for the phone and turned it on. Shock flashed through his eyes when he saw countless notifications barging in as soon as the signal returned. There were calls from his parents, Yan Jihuan's parents, the hospital and even some from his comrades in the Special Force. There were even 99+ unread messages in his inbox.

His brows furrowed in contemplation. Why did a call come in from those in the army? Did something urgent happen? He wanted to return the call to his comrades first but an incoming call dominated the screen, the caller was from the doctor in the hospital.

Jin Renguang snarled in annoyance, his thumb swiped the screen roughly, his voice even more so. "What do you want—"

"Mr. Jin!" The doctor's relieved and gratified voice travelled from the other side of the call, sounded like she was on the verge of breaking down. "Where are you now? We have been trying to reach you since forever!"

Jin Renguang said impatiently, "What's wrong? There's still a few blood bags left for the baby, right?"

"No, no, Mr. Jin, listen to me! The baby—your son has disappeared!"

"What?!" Jin Renguang shot up sitting, his head spun both from the hangover and the sudden news. "What did you say?!"

"We…We checked the surveillance camera and saw Madam Jin avoiding the security and escaping with the baby in the middle of the night! Mr. Jin, do you know where your wife might be now? She's still recuperating and can't run around like this! The baby is still too weak to be exposed to cold air!"

Jin Renguang ignored the doctor's angry holler and scrambled to pick up his car keys and coat. He nodded to his comrade and rushed out of the bar. The cold weather slapped his mind awake, and he lifted his head to see soft drizzle falling down from the sky like strands of silver, milky stars. The sky was murky and signs of downpour could be seen from the intermittent lightning and thunder.

The baby disappeared. Yan Jihuan ran away bringing the newborn weak baby..

He got into the car and stepped hard on the accelerator, diving into the desolate road at full speed. The large Jeep roared loudly, leaving behind puffs of exhaust gas.

A cold smile flashed through his lips. Jin Renguang didn't know whether to commend Yan Jihuan's bravery and wit for running away with her baby or her cowardice for the imminent divorce. Did she think that if he couldn't find her, then he had no way of divorcing her?

On the way to the hospital, he received calls from both sides' parents and found out that they had tried all the places they could think of and called all the people that Yan Jihuan might go to for shelter. It was for naught. After Yan Jihuan exited the hospital, it was as if she had vanished abruptly.

Who were they kidding? Yan Jihuan was one of the members of the elite Special Forces. Evading surveillance cameras and anti reconnaissance ability were one of the mandatory skills a soldier like them must have. If Yan Jihuan didn't want anyone to find her, then no surveillance camera would be able to catch her silhouette.

In an instant, Jin Renguang didn't hesitate to ask for his comrades' help. Only with the strength of people could he dig out Yan Jihuan from wherever she was hiding.

"Jin!"

"Brother Jin!"

Everyone had been waiting for him when he alighted from the car. Yan Jihuan's parents were sobbing incessantly, the glare they threw to Jin Renguang was accusing as if he had looted their family's wealth.

His own parents sat on the other side with displeased faces. They were on the verge of becoming grandparents and had also boasted about it around their neighborhood. Now such a thing happened, wasn't it all this imbecile Yan Jihuan's fault?! She didn't even bear Jin Renguang's child and now she even wanted to inconvenience their son to search for her? Who did she think she was?!

Jin Renguang turned his gaze toward his two worried comrades.

"Jin, what happened?"

"Sister in law, she…hasn't she just given birth? How can she run around?"

They knew nothing of the truth about the baby's appearance and his awkward identity yet. Sporting a worried expression, they circled around Jin Renguang, seeking explanation.

Jin Renguang's eyes were bloodshot and he had stubble growing on his chin. Such a haggard appearance was truly unbefitting of the usual Jin Renguang. His voice was hoarse, yet he forced himself to remain clear headed. "I will explain to you later. Now, we must find Yan Jihuan as soon as possible. She and the baby might be in danger."
