Mission XX: Seducing The Great Seducer

Chapter 432 - Why Mum?

Chapter 432 – Why Mum?

"I will wait for you," Jackson said before he disconnected the call. Jasmine left the office after making sure that everything was taken care of. She met Catherine at her desk.

"Let's go," Jasmine said seeing that Catherine was prepared for their outing. Jasmine and Catherine left the building leaving some of the employees who still had pending works behind.

It was at the same time Jasmine and Catherine left for the bar that Jeff reach his parents home.

When he entered his parents home he met his mum in the sitting room while his dad was not in sight.

His mum was surprised to see Jeff there since he never mentioned that he would visit them that day.

"Jeffrey, you never visit us except when forced or you have something business related to discuss with your father, so what brings your home. Is your reason former or latter?" Mrs Darwin asked acting like she was not happy to see her son.

"Get your young master what to drink," Mrs Darwin instructed the maid waiting on her. She brings back her attention to Jeff.

"I didn't come because of the reasons you mentioned but I came because of you," Jeff said trying to stay coolheaded. If he was to talk to his mum according to how angry he is, he was sure he will end up saying words he shouldn't say.

"You came because of me?" Mrs Darwin asked trying to read her son's mind but she couldn't do it.

"Are you perhaps here because you learn about the blind date I set up for you and the senator's daughter?" Mrs Darwin unintentionally revealed the news that Jeffrey didn't know.

"Did you set me up on a blind date with the senator's daughter despite being very aware that I have a girlfriend that I love so much?" Jeff asked, his pitch rising as he speaks.

"Why mum?" Jeff asked while staring at his mum.

"Because she is not suitable for you. She might be a nice lady but she is not in the same class as you. You are only supposed to marry someone of the same status as you, don't you know that or do you need me to teach you such simple logic?" Mrs Darwin asked angrily.

"I am the one marrying her and I say she is perfect for me so neither you nor anyone has the right to say whether or not she is suitable for me," Jeff said not able to control his anger anymore.

"Also I am not marrying her social status or wealth but I am marrying Catherine so what does her social status has to do with my love for her?" Jeffrey asked fiercely.

"You were always very intelligent and calculative in the past so I wonder what made you so stupid at the moment," Mrs Darwin said.

"If getting her out of your life will make you get over this madness and stupidity of yours I don't mind going to the extreme to make sure I get rid of her…,"

"Mum, how could you say such a thing in my presence?" Jeff asked not able to believe that his mum will utter such words.

"Why are you so cruel and stubborn like JK's mum? Is it because you both are friends or is it that you both are naturally against your son's happiness?" Jeff asked not hiding how he feels.

"The elderly always say that they know what is best for us because they are more experienced but have you guys taken out time to think whether what you think is best for us is what we want? Have you guys thought that without these women by our sides our lives will be enveloped with total darkness and sadness?" Jeff asked emotionally.

"Also, mum let me ask you according to your experience and what you have heard, is it all the men and women who marry those of the same social status who have a happily married life?" Jeff asked while staring at his fuming mum.

"How many marriages of convenience fails because of lack of love from both partners? And what if my marriage with the senator's daughter end up being one of the failed marriages, what would you do…,"

"That can never happen. Gina is a well-behaved and an intelligent girl…,"

"Nothing is impossible mum so don't be too sure. Besides I would never marry her no matter what you say or do," Jeff stated his final decision firmly.

"You are such a joker Jeffrey Darwin," Mrs Darwin stated with authority.

"I am no joker mum. I mean all I said. You can choose to believe me or think I am kidding around I don't care. But what I care about is that you should stay away from my woman especially since you are not in support of our relationship," Jeff said firmly as he stood up to leave. The moment he took about two steps he heard someone call his name.

Without turning around he recognised the voice to belong to his dad.

"Jeffrey, you barely arrived some minute ago and you are already leaving?" Mr Darwin asked Jeff who was now staring at him.

"How many times do we even get to see you at home in a year that you won't even spend an hour here now that you are back?" Mr Darwin climbing down the stairs asked.

Jeff for the sake of his father returned to the former place he sat. He sat down without uttering a word or gazing at his father.

"Why do you look so angry?" Mr Darwin who noticed Jeff"s angry expression asked before he turned to face his wife sitting beside him. He also noticed that she looked angrier.

He didn't need anyone to tell him afterwards that his wife was responsible for how furious his son looked.

"You won't even give me chance to take a closer look at your face because of your anger. I wonder what your mother said to make you want to deprive me of seeing how handsome you have become," Mr Darwin said expecting to see Jeff giggle like he always did but this time around Jeff didn't smile.

I guess the situation is more serious than I thought.

Mr Darwin thought as he shifted his gaze to his wife after he saw that Jeff won't utter a word to him.

"Honey, what did you do or say to Jeffrey to get him so upset?" Mr Darwin asked curiously.
