Chapter 431 – Am I Weirder Than You?
"Mum, I will disconnect the call now but do whatever it takes to make sure you don't reveal the truth to father. Ice Prince and I will be screwed if father learns the truth," Jasmine emphasize once again before she disconnected the call.
Mrs Avans staring at her husband tried to come up with what to tell her husband without revealing the truth of Jasmine's condition.
"Are you…,"
"Jasmine is unwell. In fact, she has been unwell for about three days now and I advised her to visit the hospital but she wouldn't listen to me. That's why I told her whether she will take responsibility if her condition worsens," Mrs Avans lied without stuttering or looking flustered.
"She is not a child anymore so why are you so worried about…,"
"No matter how much she grows she will always remain my child so I will always look after her. I can't sit and watch her neglect her health. I will do something about it even though it means dragging her to the hospital," Mrs Avans said firmly.
"You care so much about her that is why she is the way she is…,"
"Isn't the reason you have your men watch over her because you care about her so why are you talking as if I am the only one who cares about her?" Mrs Avans asked while staring at her husband's face.
"You always find a way to support her and this is why I don't always argue with you about Jasmine…,"
"She is my darling daughter after all so why wouldn't I take her side?" Mrs Avans said with a smile.
"And I am your husband…,"
"I know you are my husband but I will think about taking your side once more if you stop torturing the poor boy who has been frequenting our house because of you," Mrs Avans stylishly brought up Jackson's issue.
"You are speaking up for him again. I can't believe this," Mr Avans stood up from where he sat and went to their bedroom.
"I will keep talking about him until you do what I want," Mrs Avans said before her husband could shut the door.
"I have no choice but to fight for my daughter and her future husband. I am dying to brag about my grandchild but I can't do that because of you," Mrs Avans said. The mere thought of holding Jasmine baby when she is given birth puts a smile on her face.
When Jeff left the restaurant he had wanted to go home immediately to confront his mother but he decided to cool off first at the office before he goes home.
Everyone went about their stuff until it was almost time for Jasmine to close. Jasmine was about to fold up her work when her cellphone rang.
Without wasting time she answered the call with a smile on her face. "Hi, Jas would you do me the honour of going out on a date with me?" Jackson asked the moment Jasmine answered the line.
"Jas? Is that my new pet name or…,"
"Of course it is. Miss Naughty is only reserved for when we are together and that is why I came up with another pet name for you," Jackson said as he came out of his car which has just halted in front of Jasmine company.
"That is so sweet of you and I love the pet name but unfortunately I won't give you another pet name since I find Ice Prince unique. I love it more than any other pet name," Jasmine said as she lean back on the executive chair.
"I also love the pet name so you don't have to change it. Besides I am used to it. I will find it weird if you change it…,"
"Do you know that you are one weird guy?" Jasmine asked playfully as she turned around in the executive chair.
"Am I weirder than you?" Jackson playful words made Jasmine laugh out.
"Although you are weird, I love everything about you, including your weirdness," Jasmine said still maintaining her cheerful smile.
"Is that a confession?" Jackson asked as he approached the entrance of the building.
"Should I pick you up for the date?" Jackson said with his left hand answering the call while the other he stuck into his trouser pockets.
"Maybe that will have to be some other time," Jasmine's words made Jackson now about five steps away from the glass entrance stopped walking.
"Is something wrong?" Jackson asked in a worried tone.
"Jeff and Cat's relationship is not doing so great. I plan on helping Pretty Boy to talk to Cat over a few bottles of drinks. I won't be able to go out on a date with you today. I am sorry," Jasmine apologised.
If only she knew he was already at the building then she would find a way to handle the two issues perfectly.
"It's great to know that you are helping them to sort out things. And you didn't have to apologise. I am glad knowing that you are someone Jeff has come to trust so much," Jackson said as he turned back and head towards his car.
"I am very blessed to have such a loving and understanding man like you," Jasmine said feeling so relieved that Jackson wasn't upset about not being able to go out on a date with him.
"And I am even more blessed to have such a caring woman like you who treats her friends as family. The others are even luckier to have you, I am sure of it," Jackson now standing beside his car turned to stare at the tall building one more time.
"You have a smooth tongue but I like it," Jasmine said not able to stop herself from smiling.
"I will try to come back early," Jasmine said before she picked up her jacket and handbag from where she kept them.
