Chapter 414 – Jackson’s Mind-blowing Reply To Mrs Avans Question

"Auntie, my mum once told me that you both didn't only go to the same high school but also attended the same university. You were the most beautiful lady in high school and even on campus back then. I can see Jasmine and Elizabeth took after you in terms of beauty," Jackson tried to initiate a conversation.

"Yes, she, Mrs Frank, Mrs Darwin and I all went to the same high school and university but I am surprised to hear that your mum even went as far as mentioning that I was the most beautiful lady on campus," Mrs Avans said with smiles.

"She indeed told me about it but actually she did that with a frown," Jackson said with a huge sense of humour which made Mrs Avans smile broadened.

"That's to show that she still hasn't changed all these years," Mrs Avans said still maintaining her smiles.

"She also said you met uncle back when you were in the university. Mum, said everyone said back then that you both were a couple made in heaven. Your happy marriage with uncle and your beautiful daughters proved that their comments were a hundred per cent correct. You both still look so beautiful and good together," Jackson complimented. The two continued talking. The way Mr Avans did not disrupt their conversation showed he wasn't displeased with the ways Jackson was making his woman happy by talking about the past.

Elizabeth sitting beside Jasmine at her left-hand side nudged Jasmine by the side when she saw how Jackson was getting along well with their mum.

"I can see your man isn't stupid after all. He knows when to use his intelligence and smooth tongue. He has charmed mum without mum even realising it," Elizabeth whispered into Jasmine's ear.

"You are right about that. I had thought meeting father and mum was too sudden for him but I can't believe he was long prepared for this moment," Jasmine said his gaze focused on the two people chatting ad though they had known each other forever.

"That shows how eager he is to marry you. His actions showed he is more eager to marry you than you do," Alfred who overheard their conversation said in low tones.

Their conversation continued for fifteen minutes. Everyone was too immersed in their interesting conversation to know how many minutes has passed.

"You said you love my daughter right?" Mrs Avans finally changed the conversation to a more serious one.

"Yes, I love her more than anyone can ever imagine," Jackson replied confidently.

"Jasmine is fierce, willful, short-tempered. In fact, she is the type of woman every man will run far away from so why did it have to be her? Why did you choose her?" Mrs Avans asked while staring at his face? She didn't want to miss any slight expression he made.

His reply was important but what Jackson didn't know was that to Mrs Avans his expression and attitude while answering her question was the most important.

"Actually, Auntie I never choose her….," Jackson trailed as he turned to stare at Jasmine. The anxious Mr Avans became angry when he heard his words. He was about to order him out of his house when Jackson completed his words.

"My heart did. My heart was the one who choose her and not me. Every part of our body might lie but the heart and the eyes never lie. It defies whatever any human wants. That is why I believe that Jasmine is the best woman out there that I can ever find," Jackson's bold reply made the unhappy Alfred, Jasmine and Elizabeth happy.

Even the expression on her parent's faces showed that they were very satisfied with his response.

"And it is true that Jasmine is super naughty. She might be the type of lady men would never choose to date not to mention getting married to but that is not the same with me. To me, what others see as her flaws is what makes her unique," Jackson said while staring into Jasmine's eyes.

"No matter what other people says, staying with Jasmine makes me happy and fulfilled, I won't change my mind about her because of what people say because she is the only one I want. I would rather marry a woman who is herself than marry a woman who is pretending to be what she is not," Jackson concluded his words. Jasmine couldn't stop smiling at Jackson when she heard his bold declaration to her parents.

"Stop smiling so much or dad will try to find faults with his words," Elizabeth said playfully nudging the smiling Jasmine by the side.

"I am very happy you think of that her way. I am satisfied with your response," Mrs Avans said in a meek tone.

"Mum, why are talking as if I am a troublemaker….,"

"You know yourself better than anyone does so why are you asking me the obvious question?" Mrs Avans said.

"You might be very satisfied with him but I am not," Mr Avans words dampen everyone's mood again.

"Father…,"

"Jasmine, follow me upstairs. I have something to give you," Mrs Avans was so certain that both father and daughter duo will get into a fight once again. There is no time Jasmine and her father meet that they will not quarrel.

They might be all used to it but there was a guest there. Arguing in front of a guest despite how minor it is doesn't feel nice to her.

Jasmine reluctantly stood up when her mum who has begun walking away turned and stare at her.

She walked to where Alfred sat and whispered into his ears.

"I will be with mum in a short time so I ask that you don't let father bully Ice Prince while I am away. Lizzy is father's favourite so I can only count on you," Jasmine whispered before she turned and followed her mother upstairs.

The moment Jasmine shut the door behind her, Mrs Avans began scolding her.

"You know how your father is so why did you argue with him? Why are you always hot-headed when it comes to your father but you let the likes of Jane Allen and Mrs Smith treats you anyhow?" Mrs Avans sitting on the couch with her legs crossed asked seriously.

Indeed, she sometimes plays ignorant about what is going on in her daughters' life but that doesn't mean she doesn't know what is happening. She chooses to do this because she wants her daughters to grow and the only way they would grow is by overcoming the challenges of life.
