Chapter 974: Mo Ning, You’re Hurt!

“Stand right there!”

A growl later, three people charged at Mo Ning while the fourth grabbed Huo Ran’s arm.

“AHHHH!!!”

Huo Run let out a scream as a sharp blade pressed against her neck.

“Stop right there!”

The bald brute that took Huo Run hostage saw that Mo Ning had subdued all three of her attackers in mere seconds and was shocked.

“If you don’t stop moving, I’ll kill the daughter of the Huo family. And when they come after you, you can dream on about living a life of luxury!”

Mo Ning got up as the street light shone upon her. Standing against the light, her expression was obscured.

“Are you mistaking me for something there?”

“PTUI!” The bald man spat, “We’re all men and you think I can’t see through your act? You going after her is just a mean for you to climb the social ladder and enjoy a life of luxury right?”

Mo Ning sniggered and did not bother explaining.

“So, what do you want?”

The bald man looked around, “I never thought you to be that skilled. I know that I’m no match for you. So I’ll give you a choice, scram and let me take this missy away, or you come here, and let me stab you once, so that you cannot pursue me!”

Mo Ning sighed inwards.

For a plan to have so many holes—she could not bring herself to even look at it.

“Mo Ning….” Huo Run shook her head, her face pale. “Don’t go….”

Mo Ning gave her a comforting glance as she held her hands up high and walked towards the man.

And just as she was about two meters away from Huo Run, the bald man lifted his arm with the dagger and stabbed at Mo Ning’s chest!

It was a vicious stab without any hesitation.

And the second the blade was about to hit her, Mo Ning suddenly blocked the man with her arm.

Shocked, the bald man subconsciously swung her blade and the sharp edge slashed through her arm and tore her shirt.

In that instant, blood painted the sleeve red.

“Mo Ning, you’re hurt!”

Suddenly, Huo Run hugged her waist.

Mo Ning paused for a moment and the bald man took the chance to break out of her hold to quickly make his escape.

“I’m fine.”

She looked at the direction the man had escaped to as she retracted the dark glint in her eyes. The moment she turned she saw Huo Run was about to crash against her chest to cry, she froze.

In a hurry, Mo Ning held her by the waist. “It’s just a scrape wound, it’s nothing.”

Huo Run held her by her sleeve as she started sobbing. Her lowered head hid the glint of satisfaction in her eyes.

“Mo Ning, I’m sorry, because of me…”

“Silly.”

Mo Ning’s voice was gentle yet her handsome face was cold like the moon.

Yet the moment Huo Run lifted her head, the coldness disappeared as she smiled. “Protecting you is the job of your escort. You don’t have to blame yourself.”

“Thank you.”

The journey after that was peaceful.

As they got to the school gate, Mo Ning noticed that Huo Run was still flustered. Her eye glinted as she ruffled the latter’s hair with a teasing gaze and spoke with a gentle voice. “Don’t worry, I’ll get it patched up after this. Don’t make that face, you look worse than a hag in a bog.”

“….Am not! I’ll leave now.”

Barely two steps in, Huo Run suddenly turned back and looked at Mo Ning in the eyes.

“Mo Ning, you’re a good person.”

“Good night.”

Mo Ning waved at her and until the latter’s silhouette disappeared did the smile fade from her face.
