Chapter 234 - No Body To Bury

It seemed the little cub was really pissed off this time. A ruthless light flashed in his eyes as he tightened his grip making Xiaoyu scream out in pain.

"It promised you something that could make Ji Yao be able to touch you without him falling ill..., is that it? It seems I underestimated you Xiaoyu. You actually had the guts to deceive Ji Yao just so that you can be with him?

"Do you even know what effect that could have on him? Do you even care or all you want is to fulfil your selfish desire irrespective of Ji Yao's true feelings."

Rui Fei roughly flung her jaw to the side before letting go like he had touched something dirty. In a fit of rage, he paced across the deck as a dark aura took root inside his aether. A few minutes ago he had told himself that he was fine with Ji Yao using his body as long as it's him that he goes to.

For a moment he felt relaxed knowing he was the only one with that ability but after finding out that the creature had some sort of elixir or pill that could allow anyone who coveted Ji Yao to use it to attract his sweetheart's attention and cause him (Rui Fei) to lose his biggest advantage he was so angry that he wanted to kill someone.

His mind dangerously approached a psychotic episode the more he delve into this line of thought. His emotions overwhelmed him so much that he couldn't think straight. He even disregarded what Ji Yao said to him as the fear of losing his love to someone else took hold of him.

'I can't let Ji Yao find out,' he concluded as his steps paused, 'what if Yao-ge finds out and tortures the creature into handing over the elixir or worse the recipe?'

He couldn't let that happen. First, he had to get rid of Xiaoyu then finish that creature off before it says something it shouldn't. A malicious glint flashed by his maniacal eyes as he said to Xiaoyu,

"Actually, I change my mind... option one is not suitable for you. Option two is making you disappear without a trace and pretend like I don't know anything," grasping the back of Xiaoyu's head before forcing her to look up again, "I will make sure there won't be anything left of you not even a body to bury.... Just remember, you brought this on yourself Xiaoyu."

As he said this his seraphic energy wrapped around her neck and began to strangle her. This time he wasn't as sluggish as before. He intended to end this as quickly as possible.

He could feel the life get squeezed out of a defenceless Xiaoyu as he tightened his grip. A dark seed sprouted within Rui Fei's aether with its roots spreading at a rapid pace like creeper plants attaching themselves to anything available.

Tears kept streaming down Xiaoyu's face as she saw her short life flashing before her eyes. You would think after going through such an ordeal she would have been regretting everything she did but that didn't happen.

In fact, she was contemplating what she could have done differently to ensure the success of her plan. Maybe if she had been more cautious and wary of Rui Fei she wouldn't have been caught red-handed.

Running through a lot of scenarios with a low success rate she felt her life slowly exit her body. She regretted nothing and would do it all over again just to be with Ji Yao. In her eyes, it was worth it.

Just as her eyes closed with death knocking on her door a loud explosion followed by loud voices permeated the air. Rui Fei retracted his seraphic energy and walked over to the edge of the deck to see what was happening.

Ji Yao and part of the crew were engaged in a fierce battle with the enraged creature that had lost all rationality. The person it wanted to whack had escaped so now it was venting its anger on anyone and anything that stood in its way.

Rui Fei saw Ji Yao emerge from the water with his robe clinging to his skin. Ji Yao leapt into the air with his flaming whip-like sword striking the creature squarely in the face. The creature squealed loudly as it fell backwards but it didn't forget to retaliate. It shot out a powerful beam of light like a powerful cannon.

Ji Yao managed to dodge but not enough to avoid the attack entirely. His arm got hit sending him flying a distance away in the water. Rui Fei made a hasty move to go help Ji Yao but when he recalled the job he hadn't managed to finish yet, his steps faltered.

He knew what was more important to him so he tsked loudly before taking his gaze away from Xiaoyu. She was just a small fry in this matter. The big boss that he should be more concerned with was currently battling it out with his love.

Like a protagonist in a manga he leapt in the air and directly landed on the beast's abdomen making the creature trip slightly from the sudden weight.

Its legs that had been fiercely stabbing at the water searching for Ji Yao who was underwater stopped as its head effortlessly turned at a hundred eighty degrees angle like an owl.

Their eyes met face to face and the tension in the air intensified. It seemed the creature was seriously holding grudges because it opened its mouth wide, its jaws with sharp edges drawn far apart before roaring at him with its spit and awful smelling breath assaulting him.

It was an unbearable experience, so unbearable that he deliberately let go of his hold on the creature. It was better to fall into the water than suffer through such torment.

Just as his hands loosened their hold the creature was suddenly struck by a blazing flame firing at it like a laser beam. The shot was incredibly precise slicing off one of its legs.

Anguished screams filled the air as it stood up on its back legs and caused Rui Fei who was on its back to fall straight into the water.. The water was suddenly dyed with the creature's blood.
