Undying Warlord

594 Spoils of War

Dilan didn’t know that Rory knew a lot more about his Undying Origin ability than the others. Their Soul connection was much stronger than he thought and it allowed even the subdued subject to understand and control bits of the master’s power.

Dilan had known that Rory was given shreds of his Origin ability, which resulted in her receiving a super regeneration-like trait. But what he didn’t know was that her super regeneration kept improving the stronger his Origin ability became.

He was also oblivious to the temporary enhancement she received whenever his True Undying Essence was activated.

That was also why he was not sure why Rory was suddenly of a different opinion than the others. At first, she seemed to speak in the other’s favor. She agreed that it would be foolish for him to attempt killing the Sun God.

But just after Felicia had been taught a lesson Rory’s opinion seemed to have changed. This was quite a surprise for everyone, who couldn’t really understand the sudden change of her mind.

However, it was in Dilan’s favor, so he didn’t really think that it was necessary to bother about it.

They finished their meeting and the others, except Seigfried and Dilan’s sisters went to the other meeting, dragging Felicia along.

The general meeting would end soon but it was still better to attend it late instead of not attending it, at all.

“I forgot to ask that earlier, but did you guys use the Essence crystals of the Rasnian and Ligrav I killed or were they stored away for me to use?” Dilan asked into the small group that consistent of his sisters and Siegfried.

Siegfried was probably of the highest rank on the flying island and he was also the first to answer.

“If you’re worried that we stole your spoils of the war, don’t worry. We collected the Essence crystals and stored them in a small spatial pouch. If you need the Essence crystals right now, I can bring you to the warehouse. There is also a trading station where you can buy high-ranked weapons and other things.

And, if you like to empower the Divinity of the flying island with some spare Essence crystals which you don’t need, that would be great as well.”

Dilan was quite satisfied with his nephew. Not only was Siegfried quite powerful, but he didn’t solely focus on an increment of his stats. Dilan could tell that Nephew worked hard, for several years, in order to become a proper swordsman, get to know his powers, and slowly advance.

Advancing slowly allowed an Ascender to get accustomed to the increase in their strength, with the new powers they attained and the increase the might of their old abilities.

All in all, an Ascender would become much stronger by advancing slowly as long as they focused on the creation of a perfect foundation. A proper foundation was all it took to never stagnate, not even when advancing to the fifth, or possibly even sixth Tier.

“It would be great if you can lead me to the warehouse. I don’t need the Essence Crystals right now, but using them as a source of mana should be quite useful,” Dilan said after some thought.

He might be able to advance a little by absorbing a million essence crystals, yet, Dilan’s plan was a little bit different.

“Did you use Essence crystals to create this lightning storm to kill everyone? Is that why you need a storage for Essence crystals? That’s so interesting!” Siegfried exclaimed, acting like a nosy child. Lara looked at her son with a loving gaze, but also a bit painful.

She knew that Siegfried had never really been able to act like a child was supposed to act. His childhood was filled with fear and danger and it was only now that children were truly given the time when they could act like one.

However, Siegfried didn’t act like a child, he never really did, no matter where they had been hiding to accumulate strength and find a place to stay for good, to build their save heaven.

Even on the flying island, Siegfried didn’t act like a child. He didn’t have any hobbies either…because the only thing he sought was power.

Yet, around Dilan, it looked like Siegfried was able to relax quite a bit, and reveal some of the child within him that he could never show anyone.

“If I had Essence crystals at that time, I would have used them to kill the Rasnian and Ligrav army. Unfortunately, I was forced to use my Lifeforce, and my Origin ability in a slightly painful manner to unleash the Lightning storm.

But with the Essence crystals it shouldn’t be necessary for me to repeatedly sacrifice my Lifeforce,” Dilan explained vaguely before he pointed out something else that Siegfried said just before. “…what was that about the Divinity of the Flying island? Is the Flying island an abandoned Divinity, the destroyed temple of a God, or something like that?”

There were many natural miracles that could be used to ‘explain’ the appearance of a flying island, but Dilan had also witnessed that a Chaos Island had been modified with the creation of a temple inside it.

The temple had belonged to one of the avian races, which was also why Dilan was quite certain that this flying island was similar. His guess seemed to have been correct, given that there was even a divinity inside the enormous palace of the flying island.

But his guess was not completely correct, at the end of the day, only partially.

“To be honest, we are not even sure if the thing is a divinity, to begin with. We actually found the flying island in a huge sea and were exhilarated to find a place voice of monsters and other existences, yet, the moment we sacrificed a few corpses to the Orb we’ve named Divinity, it started to float and rise from the ocean…that was how we ended up high in the air…rather easily seen by everyone if not for the Curtain of Invisibility,” Marie explained calmly, smiling lightly at her brother.

Dilan just smiled weirdly in response, not sure what to say about their find as he heard what Lara added.

“The Curtain of Invisibility is also created by the Divinity, nice isn’t it?”

Dilan’s smile crumbled and he turned to his sisters. They were in a good mood and didn’t seem to feel that anything was off. Siegfried had also been in a good mood until he noticed that something about Dilan was off.

“What is wrong?” He asked, just to see that Dilan lifted his hand.

“Lead me to the warehouse first and show me the Orb you call Divinity afterward. After I took a look at the thing you call Divinity, I can tell you what’s wrong…or not.”

Siegfried accelerated his steps, he lead Dilan and his sisters through the palace of the flying island without problems until they ended up in front of the warehouse not even 15 minutes later.

With Siegfried by their side, it was no problem for Dilan to receive his spoils of war.

Once that was done, they changed their path and they ended up walking to the front of the flying island, where a small, white citadel had been created.

Dilan frowned deeply at the sight of the perfectly cleaned citadel and he began to smile weirdly when he saw a huge, ten meter tall statute standing behind a however human-sized orb.

“How the hell did you know that I would find one of your creations…Queen of Immortality…”
