Undying Warlord

529 Everyone knows

“The Trial of the Wise, the Trial of Comprehension, and the Trial of Power…” Dilan mumbled when he finally got to know the names of the trials he had to go through to finish the Divine mission to advance to the fourth Tier.

“For the Trial of the Wise, you will have to acquire the knowledge of the Universe. The Librarian will tell you which tomes you will have to learn to reach the minimum threshold to pass the Trial.

For the Trial of Comprehension, you will have to learn at least three techniques from the Instructors all over the City of Trials. You are free to choose the techniques and to pass the Trial for your mastery to reach the Basic grade.

As for the Trial of Power, you will have to enter the Colosseum and pass at least the first five rounds and defeat the Monsters that will be sent in the same ring as you!” The Oracle explained, giving Dilan a rough understanding of the situation.

The three Trials didn’t seem that difficult, but there was something else he was able to tell from the way the Oracle spoke.

‘She wants me to exceed her expectations of the Divine Mission. That makes sense…’ Dilan thought, realizing that he should make use of every single bit of his time inside the City of Trials to gain as much as possible.

Even if he was only supposed to learn a bunch of books, he would be better off learning even more. The same could be said about the number of techniques he had to learn and their mastery. If he was already in a place where time traveled differently than everywhere else, he might as well learn as many techniques as he needed to become as powerful as possible.

If there were 10 useful techniques, he should learn all of them as much as possible. As for the Trial of Power, the rewards were likely to be better the further he advanced. That being said, the Trial of the Wise and the Trial of Comprehension would be the first he would attempt to complete in order to pass the Trial of Power with the gains he was bound to make in the City of Trials.

Numerous plans were forming in his mind, while his entire body began to thrum in excitement.

He felt that his family would be safe even without him. That feeling was weird but it was something that swept through his entire existence, and he wondered if the Oracle made him feel like this, or if she actually made sure that his family was fine while he was in the distorted time space.

In the end, he could assess that it would be impossible for him to return home even if the time ratio between the City of Trials to the outside would be one day equivalent to a month all over the Universe.

“How much time passes outside the City of Trial when I stay here for a year or ten years?” Dilan asked. He was mostly concerned about his sister’s well-being if he were to leave them for too long.

Milarn would become more and more chaotic over time, which was only obvious as more Lesser Gods, and entire races would emerge on his home planet.

“Don’t bother about something as insignificant as that. Everyone you truly care about will survive!” The Oracle merely answered, giving Dilan an even better answer than he could have hoped for.

He couldn’t trust everything the Oracle said, but oddly enough he felt reassured after listening to her answer. Thus he nodded his head and diverted his attention on the Three Trials.

“Let’s go to the library!” Dilan suggested and it was just a moment later that they appeared at the entrance of the library.

“I will take your leave once you start with your Trials. Feel free to do whatever you need to do to attain true strength. I hope the best for you!” The Oracle gave him her wishes, dragging Dilan out of his thoughts.

“Oh, okay. Bye,” He bid her farewell before entering the library without any hesitation.

The Oracle was left behind and she stared at the retreating figure of the young man, who didn’t bother to ask her any other questions.

“I wonder if he will make use of the City of Trials, or if he will just do the bare minimum,” She wondered as her eyes turned golden all of a sudden.

Numerous images flashed through her mind and she saw a glimpse of the near future. Something related to a place far away from Dilan appeared in her mind and she let out a sigh.

“Looks like Eternal Darkness is about to be born as well. I wonder how long it will take for fate to pull all the pieces together…” The Oracle thought out loud and a glint of excitement shone on her face.

“Only the future will tell…haha.”

While the Oracle disappeared from the City of Trials, Dilan made his way inside the central area of the Trial of the Wise; the Library.

The library was a humongous place with shelves that were tens of meters high and hundreds of meters long. Every shelf contained millions of books, and there were countless shelves from the floor to the ceiling.

“Even if I want to, I cannot read all those books…I will die of old age, even if time runs differently here…” Dilan mumbled, and he went on his search for the Librarian.

Finding the Librarian didn’t take long, which was quite a relief. An old man with a long white beard and an elegant robe approached him as he was making his way through the rows of shelves.

“The Undying, I’ve been waiting for you. Please follow me!” The Old Man said, giving Dilan no other choice but to do as instructed.

“How do you know that I’m the Undying?” Dilan asked when he appeared next to the Librarian.

“Because you are. Everyone here knows that, and I hope you can fulfill our expectations!” The librarian answered quite nonchalantly, but his response made Dilan grumble inwardly.

‘Thanks…no pressure at all…’
