Chapter 65 - Icing up

Chapter 65: Icing up

“Hi!” Su Ye calmed himself down and greeted Hort.

Hort turned his head in surprise and wiped the sweat off his forehead with his wrist.

Seeing Su Ye, an honest grin decorated Hort’s lips. His teeth were as bright and clear as the half-moon in the night sky.

“Why are you here?” Hort was panting.

“I couldn’t sleep. I went back to the academy to learn the Magic Array,” Su Ye said.

Hort raised his left hand and revealed his alarm bracelet, “I still have about ten minutes to go. We can talk while I practice.”

After saying that, Hort continued to hit the magic sandbag and said, “In the future, try to practice magic in school. My classmates don’t want to practice at home for fear of being disturbed.”

Su Ye walked over and said, “Nidern said the same thing, that’s why I’m here. You… Oh, I remember now. You’ve been living in the school for the past few years.”

“Yes.” Hort continued to punch the sandbag.

Su Ye’s eyes dimmed like a star covered by dark clouds.

Hort used to have a family that consisted of his parents and his three older brothers. But now, he was all alone.

Su Ye understood Hort very well.

Now, Su Ye also felt that staying in the Plato Academy was more comfortable than staying at home.

Su Ye asked, “You can’t sleep either?”

“No. I’ll go to sleep at one o’clock, after my training,” Hort said.

Su Ye was stunned. He thought of a possibility that crept him out and blurted out, “Don’t tell me you practice until one o’clock in the morning every day?”

“How could that be possible? Haha.” Hort Laughed.

Su Ye let out a sigh of relief.

“I only practice until one o’clock in the morning for nine out of ten days. Then, I’ll take a day off and only practice until eleven o’clock. Otherwise, my body won’t be able to take it,” Hort said.

Su Ye was silent.

“You’ve already put in so much effort that it makes my hair stand on end,” Su Ye said.

“Really? Haha.” Hort laughed and continued to swing his fist, he was even happier.

Su Ye quietly looked at Hort for a long time and said, “You continue to work hard, and I’ll find a place to sleep after I finish learning the Magic Array.”

“Okay, if you don’t have a place to sleep, you can sleep at my place. Oh right, Don’t forget to tutor me tomorrow morning!” Hort said.

“No problem!”

Su Ye raised his hand and walked towards the meditation area.

“I didn’t expect Hort to work so hard.”

Su Ye sighed in his heart. Hort was already working so hard, but he still couldn’t be a Warrior Apprentice.

“I’ll teach him meditation when I get the chance. We will try all the meditation techniques one by one. There must be something suitable for him.”

Su Ye arrived at the meditation area and found out that there were other people there. There were teachers and senior students.

Su Ye quietly took an alarm bracelet, opened the Spellbook, and began to practice drawing the Magic Array.

His first choice was the Magic Array of the Wind Dagger Technique.

Since he had a foundation in art, Su Ye succeeded in one try. It was not perfect, but at the beginning of learning magic, completing the task is better than making it perfect.

After drawing the array once, Su Ye was somewhat dissatisfied. He drew it again and thought that it was good enough.

However, Su Ye still did not want to sleep.

After thinking for a while, he gritted his teeth and took out the Black Iron Magic Array.

The Glare, Loud Roar, Fear and Illusion, Silencer, Physical Withdrawal, Hand of Magic, Summoning Apprentice Servant, Fireball … There were more than twenty Magic Arrays.

Su Ye scanned through them and found that none of them were simple. Since he was quite free and Black Iron Magic was harder to master than apprentice-level magic, he first established some learning strategies and chose some arrays to start with, so that he wouldn’t be flustered and confused when he needed them in the future.

He could also draw more Magic Arrays in advance to ensure that they would be more powerful in the future.

“Fireball must be the first choice. This is the most powerful Black Iron Spell. It is long-range, covers a wide area, is fast, and has a wide range of applicability. It can be used by anyone below the level of a Legendary Mage. It would even be useful when I reach the legendary level.”

“The spell of Summoning Apprentice Servants is also one of the most important things. With powerful servants, it can prevent enemies from coming close.”

“The Hand of Magic is said to be the most frequently used spell. It can take items from afar and can interfere with the opponent. It is extremely useful. The key is that it only takes one second to cast the spell to reach the limit. With my Magic Surge, it can be cast instantly. It is extremely valuable.”

“Magic Barrier goes without saying. It is a necessary defensive spell.”

“I have to learn the spell of the Alarm Bell. This is an awesome skill in the wild. It is a life-saving spell.”

Su Ye excitedly chose the five essential Black Iron Spells and began to draw the Magic Array of the Fireball spell.

The Magic Arrays of the Black Iron Magic were indeed very difficult. Although Su Ye had a foundation in art, his understanding of magic was not thorough enough, so it became more and more difficult for him. In the end, before he could finish drawing the Fireball spell, he was so tired that he lay down and fell asleep while meditating.

A floating carpet slowly flew over, lifted Su Ye, and gently wrapped him up, making Su Ye sleep even more comfortably.

A black-haired young man silently walked over. He took a glance at the Spellbook that was opened on the ground, stared at the Magic Array of the Fireball spell for a while, and closed the book. He then turned around and left.

At six o’clock in the morning, the alarm bracelet vibrated.

Su Ye felt that something was not right. It was not like he was at home. He suddenly opened his eyes and found that he was in an unfamiliar environment. He was out of sorts for a while, but he quickly recalled what happened last night, and a complicated Magic Array appeared in his mind.

Su Ye shook his head gently and forgot about the complicated magic array diagram.

Su Ye first did his morning meditation for ten minutes, then went to find the teacher at the meditation area. After asking, he reluctantly took out two Gold Eagle Coins from his belt and handed them over.

One coin was the deposit, and the other one was the monthly charge.

Only the students who were selected by Plato Academy were qualified to use the alarm bracelet for free. The others had to pay.

Su Ye already had basic knowledge about magic. Looking at this thing, he pouted. Even Bronze Mages could make it. Its structure was simple, it was a very typical magic tool. A little silver was sprinkled on the surface that was made of ordinary steel. Its prime cost would not have exceeded five Gold Eagle Coins.

This lousy thing cost 50 Gold Eagle Coins.

Su Ye simply washed up and walked to the cafeteria. He found out that he could also eat breakfast there, but he had to pay extra. He could pay for it on account, so he chose to do that and pay for it in the future.

“The teachers in Plato Academy are not humans. And the things in the academy are so expensive. I think I really have to think of a way to earn money quickly! However, I need to get through this month first. Concentration is very important. I must not be distracted. I must not be tempted by the outside world! Attentiveness and perseverance are very important.”

Su Ye continued to correct his attitude.

He returned to the classroom, very few people were there in the morning, but Su Ye felt a little despair in his heart.

Laker, Hort, Palos, and Rolon came early again and sat there to study, just like yesterday.

Today, they were here at least 15 minutes earlier than yesterday. Why did they still come so early?

Didn’t the four of you need to sleep or walk? Did you teleport to the classroom every day?

“You have indeed changed.” Laker stared at Su Ye. He then lowered his head and continued to study.

Palos inadvertently raised her head and looked at Su Ye.

Su Ye just happened to meet Palos’s gaze. He had the same feeling he had during the first time they met. Her big watery eyes were like two lakes so blue that they made people want to dive into them and swim freely.

However, when this thought appeared, Palos’s cold expression and gaze made Su Ye realize that the lakes would form a thick layer of ice the very moment he jumped, and he would be bruised and bleeding if he dove into the lakes.

Su Ye nodded slightly to show his courtesy, but Palos merely gave him a passing glance and then lowered her head and continued studying, she was expressionless.
