Chapter 77 – Dad, why don’t you and mom sleep together? (1)

Ruan Xia raised her head in surprise. She picked up Little Wang and hugged him. “Little Wang, what are you talking about?”

Little Wang was a cool boy. Even though he really wanted to cry, he resisted. Lying in his mom’s arms, he said, “Mom, I like you. My teacher and dad both said that if you like someone, you have to respect them. Everything is okay as long as you’re happy. Mom, if you can only be happy by divorcing dad, then just get divorced. You don’t have to worry about me. But, you have to come back often to see me.”

“Do you know what divorce means?” Ruan Xia tentatively asked.

“I know.” Little Wang sniffled. “Jiang Yuang’s parents got divorced. They don’t sleep together. Jiang Yuang is living with his mom now.”

“Who told you that your dad and I are getting a divorce?”

Alarm bells were ringing in Ruan Xia’s mind. It was impossible for the housekeeper to have loose lips in front of this kid. Father Ruan and Mother Ruan wouldn’t say something like this either. The adults in the nearby villas were even less likely to talk to Little Wang for no reason. Who else could it be?

Little Wang had no resistance against his mom’s inquiries. It didn’t take long before he was coaxed into answering, “You and dad don’t sleep together. That means you and dad want to divorce.”

He paused for a moment, then he said in a very wronged tone, “I wanted you guys to make up at first, but I don’t know what I can do. I don’t understand adult problems either. But mom, I like you. I like you the most. It’s okay as long as mom is happy.”

Ruan Xia couldn’t help laughing. “So you’ve already thought things through? If dad and mom get divorce, you want to stay with dad?”

Little Wang carefully nodded. “Mom has grandpa and grandma. Dad only has me.”

Ruan Xia froze in surprise for a moment, but she quickly grasped Little Wang’s meaning.

Song Tingshen didn’t have any close relatives. He had lost his parents when he was young. It could be said that if she and Song Tingshen really got divorced one day, he would be willing to give up everything as long as he could get custody of his son.

Even a child as young as Little Wang knew how much his dad needed him.

Little Wang was really a very sensible child. He was born with a silver spoon and had already won at the starting line. However, his critical thinking skills and ability to consider things from other people’s perspectives were already beyond the scope of other young children.

Most young children hadn’t advanced past a self-centered worldview.

More than once, Ruan Xia had seen young children on the playground acting spoiled or shameless in order to get a toy they liked. Those little kids would even drop to the ground and roll around in a fit. There was no limit to what they would do in order to get what they wanted.

As long as they wanted something, they had to have it.

But, the little chubby kid in her arms had told her that it was okay as long as she was happy. That she should get a divorce if that’s what would make her happy.

Ruan Xia thought of a past friend. Her friend’s parents’ relationship had never been good. The father was a layabout and would even hit his wife. Her friend clearly knew this, but when her mom asked her if she was okay with her getting a divorce, she shook her head.

Several years later, this friend told Ruan Xia that she regretted her decision. Because of her choice, her mother never had a moment of happiness, even after all these years.

A lot of people felt that once you became a mother, you had to put your child’s happiness above your own. Your own happiness… It was no longer important. As long as your child was happy, that was enough. Did they think a woman stopped being a person when she got married and gave birth?

Ruan Xia hugged Little Wang and sniffed him. This soft and chubby child had melted her heart.
