The Typhoon's Dangerous Wife

Chapter 295 - HER TANTRUMS

[Seven days later]

Sam wiped the sweat off his forehead with his index finger as he cried inwardly. May God never bless you with the kind of best friend he was blessed with. He carefully and skillfully transferred the hot noodles from the pot to a bowl.

"What's taking you so long?" Zhenyi's loud voice could be heard in the kitchen.

He had been treated as a maid in his own house. Was it too late to ship her back to her husband? Seemingly, he had spoiled her rotten. Her tantrums start something like this-- peel this shrimp for me? , why doesn't this tea taste like the one my Jie makes? Why is your home so messy? I'm craving midnight snacks, cook this for me, do this for me, do that for me.

"Just wait for a minute," Sam said in a very gentle voice." My dear bestie, look what I have cooked for you? Your favorite noodles. Didn't you say you love watching TV while savoring a bowl of hot and spicy noodles?"

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, his best friend had occupied his room, home, his favorite sofa, and now also his TV remote. She had been making him cook food for her three times a day. Sometimes he had to run at midnight because she said that she was eating more food because it was --emotional/depression eating. He had yet to google/Baidu if such a term actually existed.

It was okay until it was just cooking food for her, but from the last three days, he had watched more sci-fi movies because of her than he had watched in his whole life.

Sob. Sob. God save this good boy from his evil best friend.

"Here. Here," Sam said with a smile as he put the bowl before her. Zhenyi grabbed the chopsticks and began eating.

As Sam was about to dig in his chopsticks, she took the bowl away from him.

Sam's smile froze right there. Zhenyi looked at him in confusion, "What happened? Where are yours?"

"I'm not hungry, " Sam grumbled and Zhenyi just shrugged her shoulders in as-you-wish.

After a while, Sam dared to ask the question that as a best friend he shouldn't, "Don't you think that your husband had been missing you? I mean his bodyguards had eyes on every action of yours. Should you at least call him once?"

"Weren't you saying just two days ago that I should divorce him?" Zhenyi asked him, without bothering to turn her eyes from the TV screen. "If I divorce him, I will marry you. And then, you can please me all your life by cooking, cleaning and all those duties a good husband should perform for his wife."

Sam choked on air as he heard what she said. "You..You are deliberately irritating me, aren't you? You should know that my heart now belongs to someone else."

"Ha. Ha. Ha." Zhenyi snickered sarcastically. "Your Xixi might end up breaking your fickle heart. If Ryuu wasn't in the equation, I might have thought about you two as a possibility."

"You're just biased, Zhenyi," Sam fired back. "Moreover, isn't Ryuu happy with Xiuying now?"

"If I knew half the thoughts that go in Ryuu's mind, I wouldn't have been rotting in depression and self pity."

At the same time, a knock on the door was heard and Sam went to open the door. He saw a guard dressed in black uniform standing outside the door with a phone in his hand.

Sam raised the brow as of raising the question about why he was here.

"There is a call for Mrs. Long," the bodyguard said monotonously.

Zhenyi immediately took the phone and said, "Hello."

"How are you, Zhenyi?" Long Shaoming's warm voice was heard on the phone. Well, he had been polite with her all along. But she hadn't heard him talking to her with this warm and tender voice.

"I'm good," Zhenyi replied. "How are you, Dad?"

Long Shaoming was shocked to hear her addressing him as 'Dad'. He understood one thing about Zhenyi-- she will reciprocate the treatment you give her.

"I have been doing good," Long Shaoming said. "I'm sorry for your loss, daughter. I wish we had been more careful. I hope you will forgive us."

Zhenyi felt a punch in her lungs. She had no words to say to him. As if understanding Zhenyi's emotions, Long Shaoming spoke again, "I have called for a clan meeting tonight. I hope to see you there. I do not know what happened between you and my son. Whatever your decision will be, remember I have your back. I promised your father that I will take care of you as my daughter but I failed. I hope you will give me another chance to prove that you are one of our own."

She smiled sadly and said," You're not the one to blame. I have been careless too. Moreover, what is not meant for us would never come to us, no matter how much we try or cry after it's taken from us. Thank you for your concern. I'm doing much better than before. I'll be at the clan meeting tonight with Jie. That's actually my responsibility as the madam of the house."

"Then, I hope to see you at home tonight. Take care, daughter."

Zhenyi took a deep breath and returned the phone after the call got disconnected. Then, she looked at Sam and said," Time to go back."

"Why?"

"Duty calls."
