The Typhoon's Dangerous Wife

A man was standing near the window, his gaze was fixed on a bird soaring high in the sky. He was accompanied by his own troops, though only two of the men clad in ancient robes followed him inside. 

It seemed like many of the things about this residence had changed, why wouldn't it be, when the man only took a second to change his own soul then why couldn't a house make up of bricks and stone change? There was nothing homely about this place anymore like it was many years ago. 

Tang Yuzhang had never thought that a woman as wild and unbridled as Tang Reine could make a home as she made with Xin Yichen. It was a shock to the Tang family too, but he was so used to living with her that these shocks didn't shock him anymore. 

Even after years, no one stopped him from entering the threshold of this mansion. Although they were vetted at the entry gate, seeing their identity the guards specially led them to an archway leading to the inside of the mansion. 

True to his words, Xin Yichen never closed the door to his house for Tang Yuzhang and no one more  than him knew how serious and literal  Xin Yichen took his words.

He wondered if he would welcome him today too, especially after knowing the reason for his visit. 

"Tang Yuzhang!" The voice rang in his ears and he turned to find Xin Yichen standing with his assistant and a young lady. 

"Master Yichen!" He gave a slight bow out of courtesy. 

Xin Yichen's lips twitched. He hadn't changed at all except a few of his gray hair transformed into silver on his head, indicating his real age. They have grown old. Sigh. 

Tang Yuzhang bowed to Zhenyi too. She was busy assessing him.

"I wonder what brought the mighty Tang Yuzhang to my humble abode." Sarcasm dripped from Xin Yichen's words, but the other man chose to ignore it. 

"Welcome home, Master Yichen." Tang Yuzhang was not the one to hold back either. 

Of course, Xin Yichen returned to China after so many years. 

Xin Yichen narrowed his eyes at him, but Zhenyi was slightly amused. Well, matters relating to her mother always end up amusing here these days. She shut down the thoughts that came with Tang Reine's name. It was not the time to dwell in guilt and remorse. 

"Well, my mistress had planned something for the Master. She had given it to me years ago and said that if something happened to her, I have to give it to you. She had arranged everything, Master Yichen, you are supposed to follow it according to my mistress's wishes." 

Xin Yichen was seething. If something happened to her. She knew all along she was dying. Of course, she would, given her actions. But she didn't think about him for a moment, and now her letter came years later after her death. He was so angry and hurt right now that he couldn't think straight.

Tang Yuzhang passed the scroll containing the letter to Xin Yichen, but his hands were trembling as the letter slipped from his hands, Zhenyi caught the letter in a swift movement. 

"I hope Mr. Tang won't mind if I read it for my father?" Zhenyi cast a look at Tang Yuzhang who found himself at the young girl's sharp tongue. What else was he expecting from Tang Reine's child? 

"Go ahead."

Ah- Chen, 

Stop getting furious over a little matter. It's not good for your health. I heard getting angry in old age leads to severe high blood pressure. You must treasure your body. Remember our body is our temple. 

However, let's drop the pleasantries and come straight to the point. I'm not good with words. Sigh. It was the reason I failed language in school. But you must fare with whatever this now-dead person is giving you. 

Ah-Chen, my death must have affected my children, didn't it? I hope Ryuu and Zhenyi are doing good and living the life we never get to. Away from chaos and blood. Tell my children not to blame anyone but me for my death. I won't let any of you take the blame for it especially when it was fixed even before my birth. 

Ryuu is thirty-two this year, isn't he? You can imagine how it breaks my heart to think about the possibility that I can't see my boy grow up before my eyes, but who can fight with fate? I have fought many battles, but only fate was the one that left me defeated. Worse, I wasn't even considered a worthy opponent in its eyes. 

Ah-Chen, if you get this letter which I fervently hope that you don't, Tang Yuzhang must have delivered it to you. This letter accompanies a package which contains several more letters, but they won't be opened till the due date. 

My empire needs a queen. I'm no longer there, tell Ryuu to marry the woman I had chosen for him if he hadn't already. Whatever his decision will be I won't be there to accept or reject it. 

But, it's time my empire gets its deserving queen. The profile of the woman is attached with this letter, and I hope you will act on it. 

As for our daughter, don't coerce her to marry if she doesn't wish to. Always give whatever she needs. I hope she experiences the love which I once witnessed and experienced myself. A love so beautiful and remarkable. 

I am carrying your love with me Ah-Chen to the other side of the world. I'm sure even after crossing fire and water, your love still ignites the blaze in my heart.
