The Rise of the White Lotus

Chapter 41 - Taking Him Home!

Ethan peered at Lexi's pair of scared yet determined eyes before he sighed in defeat. "Alright… I'll get you home."

"We're not reporting it to the police?" Lexi inquired hearing that he would personally drive her home. Yet, she didn't complain about it as her whole being was still trembling in fear and Lexi was also uncertain if she could drive safely with her current state. Moreover, it might be a shame to admit it but Lexi was scared out of her wits.

"Don't worry about that," Ethan reassured not going through the details. After all, they must safely leave this establishment first or at least, get in his car as he deliberately left his phone inside it so no one could disturb him, which he regretted now. Seeing Lexi obediently nodded in agreement, he slowly opened the van and cautiously peeked outside.

Alas, to his surprise, they were still equipped men outside yet, they didn't pay attention to him even though they had seen him. 'Ah, I feel so gullible.' Ethan Lu mumbled inwardly.

"Don't worry, chu~! Tito is a man of his words, they won't chase you, chu~!" Churu cheered excitedly. She reassured Lexi based on her intelligence. Hence, seeing Ethan's reluctance, Lexi passed Churu's reassurance in her way.

"I trust them."

----

Several minutes had passed before Lexi and Ethan mustered the courage to exit the van where they were currently at. However, no matter how Lexi thought she recomposed herself -- everything gradually shattered after seeing how crowded the parking space was.

She gasped as she held tightly on the hem of Ethan's tailored suit jacket. Thanks to the years of practice, she didn't look that pitiful on the surface or rather, she still seemed unfazed before these shadow brigade.

The parking space that should be filled with car alas, now, it seemed like a war base with how many individuals, all geared up surrounding the whole floor. Some of them turned their heads to them yet, they didn't pay much attention to them -- just like what Churu said.

Now, even without Churu's advice, Lexi would die just to go home. She shouldn't be afraid of death as she already experienced one but, that's the whole point! She already went halfway the gates of hell and was resurrected by a stroke of luck -- gaining a somewhat useless system with a cute manual.

However, when Lexi recovered and witnessed how her parents bawled their eyes like little kids, hence, Lexi oath that she won't cause them any more pain. She was given a second chance at life and she wanted to use it to the fullest -- with a peaceful and happy life.

Recalling all those heart-wrenching memories she had whenever Morris Liu would shun her, how she painfully shrugged his obvious hatred towards her, and how he flaunted his power to her parent to the extent of her dear father sucking up to his words; right before her eyes. With that, somewhat, some ways, Lexi managed to get a grip on herself.

Though her situation before wasn't as dangerous as this, Lexi was clear about one thing -- both could cost her life.

'Those memories also cost my life…"

"But you're not alone this time, chu~! I got chu~!" Hearing her convictions inwardly, Churu turned her head to her and genuinely smiled as if to say that Lexi wasn't alone anymore.

Staring at Churu who was leading the way, Lexi's tensed shoulders slightly relaxed. 'Yes,'

From the perspective of the men in a full gear suit, they found the two couple commendable. After all, though seeing that they were all equipped with dangerous weapons, both managed to keep a strong front and acted as if they weren't there.

Since Ethan Lu's keys were gone assuming that he dropped them while he fought the men earlier, they decided to use Lexi's car since she managed to grab a tight hold on it when the men captured her.

Also, the list that they should stay inside the premises was out of the list when both of them spotted other staff of the said establishment talking with the members of this shadow brigade.

Reaching her expensive car, Lexi claimed, "I'll drive."

"No --"

"Ethan, I can manage." Since Churu said that she will guide her the safe directions, she decided to drive. After all, she won't be able to explain to him how she knew what safe route to take. Also, unlike earlier, Lexi got a little confidence from her lovable sissy and of course, from her parents that were waiting at home.

Without waiting for Ethan Lu's protest, Lexi hitched on the driver's seat and waited for Ethan Lu to get inside; which in due time he abide before she started its engine -- putting all her faith to Churu and Tito's word that they won't harm them before she sped away.

When they exited the whole premises without hearing any gun noises aiming at them, Lexi felt slightly relieved. She cast Ethan a side glanced and saw that he was profusely sweating which caused her brows to crease.

"Are you really alright?"

"Hmm." Ethan faintly hummed as he squinted his eyes to have a clearer view of the road ahead.

"Focus on the road, chu~! Think about Mr. Initial task later when you get home. Turn right, chu~!" Churu grinned brightly which Lexi didn't mind as she was always like that. Hence, she focused on her driving, following Churu's directions.

----

With Churu's lead, Lexi successfully arrived home. Though from her perspective, it was quite odd that the exit of the road they took led her near the Yang residence. Yet, she didn't conclude even further as she decided to go straight home -- bringing a man with her.
