“How would they be able to see a picture of yours?” Secretary Lu went on to explain, “I described you to them as someone just over 20 years old, prettier than an actress, and would make your eyes beam when you see her. Looks like they did their job well.”
Yan Shuyu nodded reflexively. Secretary Lu was basically saying that her beauty was unrivaled. She was only too happy with that description and forgot what else she wanted to ask but just followed happily behind Secretary Lu all the way into the boss’s office.
It was her first time coming to the boss’s office but she was quite familiar with the décor; she had already seemed them quite a few times in their video chats. As such, she reflexively sat down on the could when Boss Zhou looked up from his documents, nodded at her, and told her to sit. Luckily Secretary Lu had quickly taken the document from Yan Shuyu and placed it on top of the boss’s desk. “Anything else that I can get for you, Boss Zhou?”
The document in the boss’s hands seemed to be particularly importantly, He only looked up quickly from them to Yan Shuyu before he looked back down and said to his secretary, “She doesn’t like tea. Is there any other beverages?”
Naturally, everybody knew who this “she” was referring to. As professional as Secretary Lu was, she still couldn’t help but turned and gave Yan Shuyu a look. It was truly surprisingly that she was able to have the boss remember her preference in the middle of his very important work.
That was not the only reason for her surprise. Years of working with Boss Zhou, Miss Yan was the first woman that Boss Zhou had cohabited with. Not to mention the first one who was welcomed into his office as the boss lady. Even the little young master’s mother, before their divorce and was the official Mrs. Zhou, had never set food in the office as the boss lady.
Granted, the Boss Zhou was in an alliance marriage with the now ex-Mrs. Zhou but free love between him and Miss Yan. How could they be the same? Secretary Lu knew very well that there would be more special treatment for this Miss Yan in the future. There would be no need to be so surprised by anything right now. She stopped herself from turning around and asked, showing no particular emotions, “We have coffee and orange juice. Which would Miss Yan prefer?”
If she was asking Yan Shuyu directly, Yan Shuyu felt like coffee right now. She had been watching a modern-day office drama as of late and had developed strong interest in freshly grounded coffee. Granted, she had learned how to brew coffee when she worked at Sunshine House but how was that the same as having a freshly brewed cup of coffee in an office!
Unfortunately, Secretary Lu did not ask her her opinion at all and Boss Zhou picked orange juice with no hesitation.
A few minutes later, a freshly juiced glass of orange juice was placed in Yan Shuyu’s hand and Yan Shuyu slowly recollected herself and suddenly had no idea what she was doing — wasn’t she just here to run an errand and deliver a document to the boss? How did she end up drinking a beverage in the boss’s office?
After two sips of the orange juice, Yan Shuyu decisively put down the glass and walked behind the boss. As soon as she got closed to him, her hand was grabbed. Boss Zhou, signing with his right hand, grabbed Yan Shuyu’s hand with his left one. He didn’t even look up when he asked, “Bored?”
“Mmmhmm.” Yan Shuyu was just about to say that she was going to head home first if there was nothing else when the boss started talking. “I will be another half an hour or so. If you are bored, have Secretary Lu give you a tour of the place.”
Why would I want a tour of your office? Yan Shuyu opened her mouth and immediately saw that the boss had already let go of her and was reaching for the phone. She quickly added, “I’m not bored. I want to watch you work!”
“Really?” The boss finally looked up again. His lips curved upward and he smiled and said, “Okay, bring that chair over then.”
Yan Shuyu wanted to say that she wasn’t so bored that she wanted to just sit there and watch him work but, one look at his extremely handsome side profile, she gave in, moved a chair over and sat down next to the boss.
