Chapter 271 – “You are my girlfriend. No need to be shy.” (1)

After all, she had just said not too long ago how much she appreciated the boss allowing her to stay at such a luxurious place. It’d sound way too ungrateful if she refused to do such a small favor after just a few days. In order to prove that she wasn’t an ungrateful person, Yan Shuyu hung up on the phone, ran all the way upstairs to the study, located the documents that the boss had described, grabbed her purse, and was about to take off.

Her son was in school right now. The little young master was very clingy to her during the winter break, but now that they are living together, or more precisely, the day after the boss’s return, the little boy’s life returned to normal overnight. He had multiple private tutors lined up every day. Comprehensive curriculum covering all areas – moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics, and labor – at that. His pressure was no less than her son’s.

As both kids were busying with their school, Yan Shuyu would have to go deliver the boss’s document by herself.

Yes, her driving was getting better and better and she had lost her rights to the boss’s chauffeur. =.=

‘Tis was Yan Shuyu’s first time to the Zhou’s building. Standing inside the lobby with walls that were so polished that they could be used as mirrors, Yan Shuyu was a little bit nervous. There were many visitors visiting the boss’s building, coming and going nonstop. The pretty girls at the front desk were asking the visitors in front of her for their names and companies’ names and whether they have appointments. If so, to have a seat; otherwise, to register their information.

It was so professional that Yan Shuyu started getting worried. Would she need to state her identity and purpose as well? It wasn’t a big deal but the thought of stating that she was the boss’s girlfriend in front of so many people was somewhat embarrassing.

Nevertheless, what she worried about did not happen. The girls at the front desk caught sight of her and the document pouch in her hand. They exchanged some words with each other, and the two of them stopped what they were doing and walked over to her, both smiling.

“Are you Miss Yan?”

Yan Shuyu nodded in a trance. She didn’t understand why the boss’s employees seemed to recognize her even though this was her first time there. She didn’t think she was that famous.

As she was still baffled, she heard the other girl say to her, “Secretary Lu had already informed us about you. Right this way. This is where Boss Zhou’s office is.”

She followed the girl reflexively. There weren’t a lot going on around them at first. There were lots of people coming and going inside the lobby but all busy with their own purpose and nobody paid her much attention. Nevertheless, when they arrived in front of the elevator at the very end, Yan Shuyu felt that all of the eyes suddenly focused around them. Or more specifically, on her as though everyone had just noticed her beauty.

How could the boss’s employees be so slow? Yan Shuyu was even more baffled. Before she could figure it out, she had already walked inside of the elevator. The girl from the front desk helped her push the button before walking back out of the elevator. She even stood there and smiled at her while the elevator doors closed.

Yan Shuyu lamented at her impeccable attitude. The elevator arrived at the top floor quickly, and Secretary Lu was already waiting for her outside.

Secretary Lu was no longer that person who was eager to get out as fast as she could the one time that Yan Shuyu ran into her in the little district. She was back to her friendly self and walked up to Yan Shuyu with a friendly smile. “Thank you so much, Miss Yan. Boss Zhou’s office is right this way…”

“Just running an errand for him. It’s not a big deal.” She was a bit disgruntled when the boss called but he was right that his office wasn’t too far away.

Secretary Lu asked caringly again, “I’ve heard that you and Boss Zhou had moved already. How are you liking your new place?”

As Secretary Lu was the one who found the place, it wasn’t unusual that she’d ask about it. Yan Shuyu nodded and said, “The place is very nice. Thank you for your hard work.”

“You are welcome.” Having said that, Secretary Lu explained herself seemingly casually, “Speaking of, I was startled when I ran into you downstairs the other day. I thought I was being sloppy at my job and revealed the surprise that Boss Zhou had prepared for you.”

Her words had enlightened Yan Shuyu. So the reason that Secretary Lu seemed very dodgy that day was because she didn’t want her to ask more questions.

And now she was explaining it to her purposefully?

Truth was, she didn’t think much of it, but as Secretary Lu was the one who started with the chitchatting, she thought she could ask her a question as well. “Secretary Lu, how was it that the girls at the front desk recognized me right away? How did they do that? Have they seen a picture of me?”
