The Kidnapped Bride

Chapter 389 - Complicated Condition!

At the husky voice, Hannah's heart did skip a beat. She found it hard to let this voice go away from her mind before she muttered, "Is this Ellen?"

"That's me. But is that y-you...Hannah?"

How come he guessed it so quickly? Jennifer and Hannah both were shocked when they lifted their eyes.

Jennifer had doubts but the turmoil of her sentiments was bigger than that.

"Hello? Ellen, Th-that's me, Jennifer!" Jenifer finally snatched the phone from her best friend, in the hurry to ask about Javier, "How is Javier? Did you guys find him at the right time that day? Tell me!"

For the next few seconds, there was absolute silence from the other side. The same awkward silence gave Jennifer's heart a thunder attack where her hands started to get shakier.

"Ellen..?"

"Hmm..yeah? Jennifer... Yes, we did find him that day, brother Charles reached there on time. BUT his condition? Well...that's complicated to tell you.." hearing this, Jennifer's lips turned pale.

The wide eyes of hers were evidence of the same when she asked again, "W-what do you mean by this...Ellen?"

"He isn't in any good condition. We have lost all our hopes, nothing can save him anymore, Jennifer." Ellen was straight in his words, without even taking any breath in between.

It was hard for her to determine whether he was blurting out the truth or not. However, with no option in her hand, she can't just trust these words as well.

Her heart had started to cry in the back of his mind when she muttered, "C..can...he talk..."

"Injuries are deep." came a solid voice, where Jennifer had lost all of her sanity to think.

Was heaven being too cruel to her? Why were they not in her favor anytime? She had true love! The man who should suffer should be Lucas!

But why was heaven giving all the pain in their lives? She already lost their child..and now her husband was in grave danger as well?

How was she supposed to save him?

Her lips were shivering badly when her words seemed to come out. Sensing her state made Hannah take the phone out of her hands before she talked with Ellen herself.

"Are you sure that..Javier isn't in good condition? There were bullets...I know this but still? No sign of recovery?" Hannah asked deeply, with the hope that she could get any other good report.

Unfortunately, she didn't and it broke her heart.

"Hannah, why would I lie to you and Jennifer when you have managed to call me after such a task? It is true... Javier's condition isn't stable. We all,  either Charles or Ryan...everyone has lost our hopes for now.."

"No...no...this can't be the truth! How can Javier be in this state?! Aren't the doctors qualified enough?!?!"

Jennifer yelled from the other side, didn't even mind that her parents were downstairs and they could show up anytime soon.

That was the least of her concern for now but she was worried about her husband's well-being, who was laying in the hospitals bed.

Hannah tried to soothe Jennifer by holding her by her shoulders, but the call did go on.

"A-are there...any chances for us to come there again?" Hannah knew that this was the dumbest question.

After all, everything began when Jennifer was kidnapped and was asked to stay in Johnson's states.

But she still hopes for such a plan, after all, this will give Jennifer a chance to interact with the man she loves..she cares and it will surely lower her heartache.

In the end, at least she can be by his side during his last days as well...

Meanwhile, Ellen had to convert his hand into a fist when he closed his eyes to respond to them, "I'm sorry. But right now, we all are engrossed in something important. Take care of yourself, also of Jenifer.. we will see what we can do for Javier..."

"And please, don't take Lucas and Austin as friendly as before...they are snakes and snakes need to be dealt with in their own way...they are poisonous ones." This was enough that Ellen told them as a piece of advice before he hung up the call.

However, after the conversation, Jennifer was sitting on the bed in a daze. Her gaze never tore from the ground as she could feel her entire world crashing into the pieces one by one.

Everything was being snatched from her hands and she had no power.

She needed power to actually be able to achieve something. And this is only possible when she comes out and talks. "This is the time to make connections, Hannah."

Hearing this from the dazed Jennifer, made Hannah slightly shocked. Her curved frown deepened when she came and sat by her side on the end's edge as she kept her hand over hers.

"Connection? Which kind?"

"Influential one."

"But who's more influential than Lucas and his family? There is literally no one who can help us deal with this man.."

Hannah told her the reality which they were facing. In fact, Lucas himself is the most important prominent. But Jennifer's lips were curved upwards at the thought.

The meaningful glance that covered her lips was now seen by Hannah as well. Back in her mind, she could feel the chills down her spine as they accelerated through her brain.

"Jennifer....you have someone in your mind," Hannah muttered in a slow breath as she gazed at her best friend who just nodded her head.

The pain of losing loved ones was felt by her. If she has been such a timid person in the past, everyone around her has simply used her. However, this was the time to show out the real tigress that was hidden beneath her.

The hair of hers covered her entire face. A small scoff left her lips when she just brought the string of the hair behind her ears.

"To have my family's revenge, I will attack the most prominent person....and will shake my hands with one who bores the same hatred for him like me...and it won't be hard to find one..."
