The Greatest Sinner

Chapter 325 - Explosions

Evan did not use Lightning Arrow of Darkness now, as he wanted to study the other spells before destroying mountains for the sake of testing. The next spell Evan was going to learn was Explosive Order.

It was an Amplification Magic spell, but a unique effect allowed the mage to create many explosions by attacking with standard weapons.

Evan returned home and began to learn Explosive Order. He had a lot of experience with Amplification Magic spells, so he read through the entire book fairly quickly. Moreover, it only took him one month to learn to use this spell.

"Okay, let's get started." Mumbled Evan and his Warp spun.

The mana transformed into red energy that completely covered his scythe. This spell was no different from any other Amplification Magic spell on the surface. But, the effect of this spell would only be seen in combat.

Evan walked over to the dummy and gave it two swift blows. He made shallow cuts to keep the dummy intact. Evan hit the same spot, so there was more red energy there. Evan had one more strike to make the explosion happen.

Whooosh.

Evan swung the slash and hit the same spot a third time. That's when the concentration of energy became large enough for it to explode. The explosion was powerful enough to destroy half of the dummy. Evan then struck three more blasts in the same spot, and a second explosion destroyed the rest of the dummy.

<Fine, as I thought this spell would be perfect for me since my fighting style is pretty fast. But, each blast takes quite a lot of mana. I'll be exhausted after creating more than thirty blasts. However, even the strongest monster of the second rank would have a hard time withstanding that much damage.> Evan thought.

For the next few hours, Evan practiced using all the spells he had learned except Lightning Arrow of Darkness. That spell had too much destructive power, but it wasn't the strongest.

"Now it's your turn," Evan muttered, looking at the book with the black cover.

It was Waterfall of Souls. It was the most powerful spell he had chosen, in Evan's opinion. It didn't have as much destructive power as Lightning Arrow of Darkness, but it was almost impossible to defend against.

It was also Epic Rarity, so Evan thought Waterfall of Souls had great potential. Not all fights and locations were suitable for spells like Lightning Arrow of Darkness. Sometimes a mage needed a spell to reach his opponent and kill them.

Evan started reading the spell book, but even after reading the first three pages, he had a lot of questions. Waterfall of Souls was a spell of soul magic. Evan had never studied such spells before, so he didn't know many important details.

It took Evan over a week to read the spell book entirely and understand everything. It was a very long time, and it was scary for Evan to imagine how much time he would have to practice. However, he had no other choice anyway. He had to learn this spell to become much stronger.

Evan didn't leave the training room for the next three months. He meticulously re-read the spell book and tried to find the mistakes he had made. Gradually there were fewer and fewer problems, but Evan still found it difficult to cast Waterfall of Souls.

"Okay, let's try again. I should be able to do it now." Evan muttered, and his Warp spun.

The mana gradually transformed into dark energy, which turned into the semblance of eerie spirits. There were more and more of them with each passing second. At this point, Evan could only create seven spirits, which was the maximum of this spell until his Awareness increased.

So when Evan managed to create seven dark spirits for the first time in a long time, he smiled contentedly. Only now could he declare with confidence that he had cast the spell completely correctly.

"Even though it's my mana and I created these spirits, they still look really creepy," Evan muttered as he looked at the dark spirits flying around him.

An unpleasant, cold aura emanated from them as if death itself. The next moment Evan waved his hand and one of the dark spirits flew toward the dummy. Its speed wasn't as great as that of a lightning arrow, but it was still pretty fast.

When the spirit reached the dummy, there was no explosion, but gradually dark energy began to emanate from the dummy, and it began to disintegrate. Outwardly it was very similar to the process of decomposition or dissolution. But, nothing was left of the dummy, not even a particle. The spirit completely destroyed it.

Waterfall of Souls was very powerful, but it was not an all-powerful spell. It was also possible to defend against it with some potions or healing spells. However, this required high quality potions and spells, and these spirits also hurt the target's psyche.

If the monster, mage, or beast weren't strong enough, they would stop controlling themselves and go into a frenzy. In a minute, their flesh would decompose and turn into nothingness, after which there was no saving them.

"This spell is very powerful, but I'm can't use it more than once per fight," Evan muttered, staring at his bloody palm. Blood flowed from the corners of his mouth, and he coughed up blood several times.

Waterfall of Souls not only required a great deal of mana to use but also put a great deal of strain on his body.

"I learned all the spells I wanted to, but I need to rest both physically and emotionally. My head is splitting from so much information."

For the next week, Evan did not train but rested and thought about his plans for the future. He ate and slept a lot and drank a variety of expensive potions. Evan was resting, and his body was gaining strength.

When he felt fine, Evan took a month to learn to use his spells properly.. The training process was much faster than the process of learning spells.
