The Greatest Sinner

Chapter 308 - Second Level Spells

Evan took quite a while to find the right spells for himself. Even though this library was at the base of the Demonic Tree and had many forbidden spells, there were few Epic Rarity spells even here. Evan did, however, pick out some exciting spells.

But, there was one thing he hadn't expected. Evan had never seen a mixed elemental spell before this moment. All the spells he had used were of one element: darkness, blood, ice, or lightning.

He had wondered about this once before and didn't understand why he hadn't seen such spells in The Last Moon library. Moreover, there was no mention of them in the books, but now he understood the reason.

<It seems impossible to create a mixed elemental spell if it's below the second level. It's most likely a matter of not having enough mana to use level zero and level one spells.> Evan thought, looking at the spell book.

This time he decided to choose more spells than usual, namely two Amplification Magic spells, two Creation Magic spells, and one Summoning Magic spell.

Evan's left eye turned to gold, and he looked at the first of the five spells he had chosen.

[Spellbook - Vortex Boots of Thunder

Rank - 2

Rarity - Rare]

It was an Amplification Magic spell, and as the name implies, it combined two elements: lightning and wind.

Evan decided to choose this spell because of its interesting and suggestive description -

<When the mage casts this spell, mana is transformed into wind and lightning, which envelops the mage's legs into a kind of boots. This spell gives the mage incredible speed due to the element of wind and increases the strength of his leg strokes due to electrical discharges. But, this spell has one big disadvantage, wind and lightning are not bad in sync, but it takes a lot of mana and energy to hold that kind of power for a long time.>

This spell gave the mage both speed and increased attack, of course only from kicks. Evan decided that such a spell would be an excellent substitute for Ghost Step. Moreover, if necessary, Ghost Step would still be a useful spell because of its silent effect.

"My last spell made me silent, and this is the opposite. From the description, when I cast this spell, there will be the sound of thunder all the time." Mumbled Evan.

Vortex Boots of Thunder was a Rare Rarity, but Evan decided that this spell would suit him perfectly.

The next Amplification Magic spell Evan chose was Epic Rarity. It was called - Explosive Order.

This spell was unusual and unique. While using Explosive Order, the mage's hands or weapons were covered in red energy. But, it was not fire. It was difficult to determine the element of this spell. The most accurate answer would be an explosion.

The essence of this spell was that when a mage hit your opponent, a particle of this red energy was left on him. However, that energy dissipated naturally in ten seconds.

If the mage struck twice more at roughly the same spot, the red energy would be enough to cause an explosion. This spell was suitable for those who preferred to strike many blows instead of one very powerful one.

Evan either fought with his bare hands or with a scythe, and those were some of the fastest fighting styles. So this spell suited him perfectly.

So Evan would not only chop the flesh of his opponents but also blow them up. This spell was also great for fighting against armored and well-defended opponents. If its weapons couldn't penetrate the armor of a monster or a mage, a few blasts should undoubtedly do the trick.

Evan didn't choose any more Amplification Magic spells. It was more than enough, in his opinion. Also, he had to get a few more spells from the Pillars in Dark Space. So Evan decided to limit himself to just two spells of the same Type of Magic.

Next, Evan moved on to select Creation Magic spells, one of which was.

[Spellbook - Lightning Arrow of Darkness

Rank - 2

Rarity - Rare]

Like Vortex Boots of Thunder, this was a spell of mixed elements: darkness and lightning.

The spell was straightforward to use but highly effective and deadly. But, using this spell was done in two stages.

First, the mage had to create a bow from the darkness and convert the mana into a lightning arrow. Thus the lightning arrow absorbed the power of darkness and combined the two elements.

Because of the element of lightning, the speed and destructive power of the arrow were at an enormous level. The darkness gave this spell the stability that lightning lacked, as well as the corrosive effect.

This spell suited every mage, but especially one who knew some vision-enhancing spell. The passive effect of the Sigil of the Rat significantly improved Evan's vision, so this spell was especially powerful in his hands.

"I'll save that for later..." Mumbled Evan looking at the second Creation Magic spell.

He moved on to the Summoning Magic spell. He decided to take one such spell, not for combat but experimentation. He needed helpers, about the same as Rave's.

Sure, Evan could kidnap people or even mages and make them work for him, and he'd probably do that. But, one Summoning Magic spell wouldn't be out of place.

[Spellbook - Summoning Blood Skeletons.

Rank - 2

Rarity - Rare]

There were no tricks to this spell. It was simple. A mage could summon several Blood Skeletons. But, they were poorly suited for combat, which is why Evan chose this spell.

The skeletons' bodies were covered in a thin layer of blood, and they could transform that blood into the form they needed. Evan decided that such creatures would be useful in experiments or when urgently required an unusually shaped tool.

Moreover, these skeletons were capable of healing but slowly and not particularly effective. However, this is provided that the target was a mage at the stage - Two-Pointed Star. The skeletons' blood would quickly heal wounds in the shortest possible time.

In the end, Evan decided to reread again the last spell he had chosen. It was a Creation Magic spell, Epic Rarity.. It was called Waterfall of Souls.
