Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf

Chapter 234 - What Else (8)

Luke wanted to fiddle with the red crystal for a while longer and think about what tamed monster he should sacrifice. Still, he couldn't ask his dad or mom to summon them whenever possible and then repeat the process, it was quite the gruesome thing to do and while his father was military and knew that he shouldn't treat monsters like pets, his mother was different. The red crystal also only allowed the owner to do that, so he had to wait until he returned.

"Any ideas of where they might have gone?" Luke asked when he headed to his room.

"Our hometown was destroyed a long time ago and became a nest of monsters, so I don't think that even Sylah would be stupid enough to head there," Shalia explained. "... Trying to understand how idiots think is difficult, so I really can't tell."

"Well, you probably can sense his mana if we get close, so let's get going," Luke said.

As soon as she heard that, Shalia worked to teleport them to her home planet. Luke felt his eyesight getting blurring for a moment, but then he quickly got better. At the same time, he began to feel the smell of a lot of smoke in the area, and then the scenario changed. Rina's world was green and while due to some weather conditions that had been improved by mana, but Shalia's world was red and black due to numerous fire spots and the toxic smoke that was covering everything. They were supposed to be in the middle of some grassland, but Luke could only see a barren land.

"Well… what an exotic scenario," Luke said.

"Spare me the lip service," Shalia said. "Dark elves are more violent, so a good part of our world always looked like this, but since magic was abundant, the lands also recovered faster. Things changed when the alien monsters began to appear, though."

That made sense. Even though most of the cities from earth weren't burning, most of the buildings had fallen. That was about the destruction that the monsters could spread, considering how humans changed their own environment. Nevertheless, they didn't have time to worry about that. It was time to move.

"Any place where we can check for information about if someone saw those stupid brats?" Luke asked.

"... Ah…" Shalia said and then sighed. "I wouldn't bet much on this, but if Shalia has even a small amount of intelligence, he will avoid areas where he can find other dark elves. Like I told you before, all those who stayed behind are nut jobs. If they see that girl, they will think she is an enemy that came to invade, even if another dark elf is with her."

The problem was the fact that those two didn't have much of a brain, if something were to happen to a kid that Luke was supposed to protect, he would have an easier time going full killing mode to subjugate that world and the people in it like Shalia wanted, but he ultimately wanted to find her alive so that he could give her a good lesson for worrying his parents like that.

"We are supposed to be in windy grasslands, the place where we were before heading to Earth, so I imagine that they passed through here," Shalia said. "I can't feel their mana, though."

"Well, let's search around the area for any possible traces that they have left," Luke said and then began to run while carrying Shalia on his back. "Meanwhile, you can explain to me about your world that you think is necessary."

Shalia nodded and then began to explain the basic history of her world. Since pretty much forever, the dark elves had waged war against each other. While they were a magic race, they still had a high virility, so despite the wars, the numbers never stopped growing. They always had millions upon millions of them, and a good part of those was waging war for lands or for whatever reason.

According to Shalia, the history that she knew started five hundred years ago. Since they focused on waging war, their society never developed much. They always tried to obtain new spells and powers to use against their enemies, though. Thanks to that, villages or towns never grew much beyond a few thousand inhabitants. Once someone grew powerful enough, they would try to rule the area, and the others would get on the way, thus giving birth to a new conflict. The towns and villages would get destroyed, and the survivors would try to make homes somewhere else.

Thanks to that, they had thousands of villages and towns across the world… but that didn't change when the monsters arrived. They didn't have time to rebuild since the wars against them never stopped. To make things worse, they never agreed on following a single leader. They always attacked the enemies on many fronts, but since they didn't coordinate, it never worked well. After a few years, the hundreds of millions of dark elves had become a couple of dozen… around that time, it became known that some alien species were looking for allies across the cosmos. Since they couldn't find a leader of their own, some thought that they could find someone much stronger outside their species. However, most of those rejected the idea of following a stranger. Once again, they fought each other and decreased their numbers even more… The idea that some of them wanted help was shameful for them… and they decided that those didn't deserve to live.

"Once that happened, we split up into two factions. As you can imagine, our side had too few supporters, and we were hunted for two years," Shalia said. "Sometimes, they stopped fighting monsters so that they could hunt us."

Now Luke could understand where Shalia was coming from… she considered that most of her species were beyond salvation.. That was why she wanted Luke to rule them with an iron fist.
