Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf

Chapter 233 - What Else (7)

Luke nodded at that, and then they returned to Earth instantly. Rina sighed since she didn't like to stay on her chibi size, but she couldn't complain. Nevertheless, Luke began to pray and hope that that stupid kid hadn't gotten herself killed while he was heading home. Still, he also had a feeling that things were a lot more complicated than that. Fortunately, not everything was bad news. His followers had increased quite a bit...

The base looked to be doing well, but Luke saw some survivors working on the walls. Since it was already noon, they have been working for a while… that was a sign that they suffered quite the attack overnight. As if that wasn't troublesome enough, Luke found his parents in a heavy mood in the living room.

"Luke… I am glad you are back and all right," Julia said while forcing a smile.

"Don't be so hard on yourself, mom," Luke said. "Kids are only good at making adults worry about them. Besides, you couldn't have done anything to stop those two."

"Putting that aside, Luke, shouldn't you be resting?" Mark asked. "We heard from your friends that you got hurt quite a bit yesterday. Maybe if we wait for a while, they will return."

"They sure have some loosen tongues…" Luke said and then sighed. "Anyway, I considered that myself, but Danielle or that midget aren't exactly good at judging things. Besides, things will probably be a lot more difficult in Shalia's words since dark elves believe in strength above all else."

"You got that right," Shalia said. "Those who are even willing to talk decided to look for powerful allies, but the real bat shit crazy dudes stayed behind."

"That is quite… worrying," Luke furrowed his eyebrows.

Shalia wasn't cold-blooded, but she didn't even try to stop Luke from killing some of her people that tried to mess with him. That means that a lot more hard to deal dark elves are waiting for them on the other world. Nevertheless, now Luke doesn't know if he should use the red crystal or wait until he brings back Danielle and Sylah.

Red Crystal

It grants you the power to turn everything in a five hundred meters radius into a fortress.

The town was more or less of that size. Even so, some houses and the walls would be left behind. It was a pity, but some sacrifices will have to be made.

"There are many people here living near the walls?" Luke asked.

"No… why are you asking that right now?" Mark frowned.

"Reunite everyone near the center of the town. We will create our fortress now," Luke said.

Luke was up to something again, but his parents had heard of the red crystal and what it could do. Even if he leaves for a few days, humans will be able to use it and make the base move around. It was a weird characteristic, though. People of his species could charge the red crystal with mana and then use it. He also had confirmed the limitations with Cresta. As long as the owner is alive, only those inside it could use the red crystal… it was quite weird since the people inside the fortress might leave and return all the time, and spies go without saying.

Regardless, when everyone was ready and in the same area, Luke crushed the crystal, and once the shards fell on the ground, it made the entire area tremble. A wave of energy crossed the area and then made the borders of the town crack. Cresta told Luke to have a proper image of the fortress that he wanted, and while he had one, it turned out quite weird… the fortress didn't have tall towers or even an impressive main building where the red crystal could be found. It was above the others and connected by a long staircase, but his house was essentially the main building. Regardless, it had some walls made of Earth, but they didn't become fifty meters long as he had envisioned. As expected, that was the limit of the red crystal without mana.

Expansion Lv 01: 1.000.000 mana points.

Mana Shield Lv 01: 2.000.000

Summoning Lv 01: None

Movement Speed Lv 01: 3.000.000

Search Range Lv 01: 3.000.000

Teleportation Lv 01: 5.000.000

Current Mana: 00

That was what Luke could see by touching the much larger red crystal that appeared at his home. The expansion would increase the size of his fortress, Mana Shield would make the mana used for defense become more efficient. Summoning couldn't be used since he didn't sacrifice any monster. Movement speed was self-explanatory. Search Range would give him the chance to look for other worlds nearby that have crystals, and Teleportation would give him this chance to go to them… if they are in the range of Search Range.

Luke explained to his father how to operate the fortress. It would be perfect if it had some attacking mechanisms to wipe out the monsters from above, but that would be too much. Nevertheless, they had a hundred people on their side. Still, even if they keep sending their mana to the crystal, it will take a while for any of those parameters to level up. It seemed wrong to sacrifice his tamed monsters, but Luke couldn't see any better alternative.

"If you feel the need to move the fortress, you can do it, but I think it is better to move around and search for areas where you can hunt the monsters instead of running away from them," Luke said. "I am going to search for Danielle, so I don't know when I will return.. You are in charge of this thing while I am away, dad."
