Speed Is King

293 Brimming with energy

“You do?” Elliot raised an eyebrow in surprise.

“Yes.” Kai said as he took to the skies with a flap of his wings. “Take a good look, Master. These are the skills which I had created a few days ago.”

As soon as his feet left the race car, he was immediately left behind. However, before Elliot and Wu Kong could laugh or even say anything, Kai’s sleek yet very obviously muscled figure appeared next to them

“Spatial Charge.” Kai said with a small smile at the flabbergasted Elliot and Wu Kong before he started to rise up slowly into the sky.

After reaching approximately thirty meters off the ground, he stopped his ascent and waited for the Firebats to get within range.

Unlike the mercenaries, the Firebats weren’t separated. All five hundred of them were in one big group, and approached them with high pitched screams and shrill wails that would cause any normal human being to grit their teeth in pain.

The difficulty of the first monthly race of the games of earth had truly risen by several notches.

“If I wasn’t here to clean up the way for the other racers, I doubt we will even have twenty survivors.” Elliot muttered darkly.

However, his dark thoughts were soon completely swept away by a lingering sense of awe.

Kai had unleashed his area of effect skill, and it was nothing short of spectacular.

“Darklight Spectral Bind.” Kai said very lightly as he pointed at the five hundred or so Firebats which had just entered within one kilometer from where they were.

Immediately, all five hundred Firebats froze and promptly dropped to the ground!

And it was not all.

Once on the ground, all five hundred Firebats began to wither and slowly die at a rate that was very much visible to Elliot’s enhanced sense of sight!

And as Elliot and Wu Kong widened their eyes in shock and tried to process the sheer awesomeness of Kai’s new skill, a wave of Darklight energy shot out from Kai.

Whoosh!

As soon as the wave of Darklight energy reached the bats, the rate of their withering increased drastically.

Within one minute, all five hundred Firebats died.

Blink.

Kai appeared once more within the rear seats of the race car and smiled at the two of them who had immediately whirled around to stare at him.

“What was that?”

“How did you do that?”

Wu Kong and Elliot asked him in unison.

“Spectral Bind, a combination between Spectral Aura and Chaos Bind.” Kai said very simply. “As to how I did it, I merely took the concepts behind the two skills and merged them together.”

Wu Kong smiled at the massive understatement of the incredibly difficult feat Kai had just did with merging skills.

As a Lightning Apostle, of course he had tried to merge skills together, but it was far, far too difficult for him. He had failed completely.

Next to him, Elliot nodded in approval.

Little Kai, who wasn’t so little anymore even though he was less than a month old, was certainly a genius above all geniuses.

Elliot absolutely didn’t regret granting him the strongest element of them all. With such mind blowing talent, Elliot wasn’t even sure that he could maintain his superior strength over him!

The vision he had seen in relation to Kai could very well be true.

Elliot had tried merging skills before, and although he succeeded, it was a crude success, at best.

Azure Lightning Blast was the result of his attempt, and although it packed quite a massive punch, it was so energy inefficient that if at all possible, Elliot would rather use other skills.

However, that was before he merged with the remnant dragon soul Rune Master which gave him a deep understanding of Runes just like that.

He was sure that with his newfound mastery of runes, he would be able to do an excellent job with merging skills together. Heck, he might even be able to create brand new skills!

“I should refine Azure Lightning Blast, and merge all my similar skills together. And make a skill or two that would be my signature skill.” Elliot thought to himself. “Yes, I will definitely do that once I am done with this monthly race.”

With the Firebats gone, the path was completely clear for Elliot to quickly hit one thousand kilometers.

“Well done, guys. You have all gotten very strong. I am so proud of you, and so glad that I am your master.” Elliot said as he dismissed all his beasts when he crossed the nine hundred kilometer mark.

All of the adult beasts didn’t get to say a single word when the public mind space was immediately in uproar.

“Yes! Bildie numbel one is de best! Bildie numbel one! Bildie numbel one!”

“Bildie numbel thlee is plettiest! Bildie numbel thlee is pelfekt! She is numbel one! Bildie numbel thlee is bildie numbel one!”

“What? I no bildie numbel one! I bildie numbel thlee!”

“Yes! Bildie numbel thlee you al numbel thlee but numbel one!”

“I no undelstan you speak. You speak bad! Go school and lealn talk!”

“Big big boss say I do veli well and veli setlong! Wahahaha! Soon, I be big boss and kick big boss away!”

“Big boss! Bildie numbel sig say he want to be big boss! He notti!”

And so on and so forth.

Elliot merely chuckled and the massive mess the baby birds are bringing to the public mindspace and looked ahead eagerly as his race car ate up the final few kilometers rapidly.

[Ding!]

[You have qualified for the First Monthly Race.]

[Initiating teleportation.]

Bright lights shone and sparkled all around him as his car entered a spatial tunnel.

They soon exited the tunnel and hit the race track at full speed!

Bam! VROOOOM!!

They were in a similar setting as the previous world. With only one difference.

That new world was filled to the brim with energy!
