Shinobi From Hell

Chapter 274 - Rumor That Brings Calm

Klautz wanted to build the foundation upon which he could stand on equal grounds with the second gen.

'A step at a time,' that was his motive and goal to avoid the ninjas and secure a stable position for himself.

Albeit such an endeavour came at a side effect of gaining quite a bit of fans among the newbies after the duel. The small ripple that was created at the entrance ceremony was already intensified into towering waves at the duel against Colt Ackerman.

"Big Brother, you were so cool!" Shizu squeaked.

Just an hour ago she could have sworn to her forefathers that she wanted to kill Klautz for scamming her. And her forefather would have scolded her back claiming that it was her own mistake.

But her mood had made a complete 180 degrees after Klautz had defeated Colt. The only thing she wasn't satisfied with was the fact that KLautz had not beaten his black and blue like the other challengers.

'She should be thanking that Gozoto instead of me.'

Klautz rolled his eyes as the letter that he had received from the same caused a feeling of disgust to be once more born on his face. It was just a misunderstanding on his own part and he understood it well, but he couldn't help but feel repulsed.

But what was worth to note was that Shizu had even started calling him Big brother instead of 'Klautz'.

'Is that a sign of trust?'

'While there is nothing bad about having a little sister. But I am more concerned about my little brother down there at the moment.' Klautz thought as a slight frown formed on his face.

Unfortunately for Klautz there was no way he was getting turned on with a little sister roleplay. Rather it was Selena's very presence who seemed to be sending subtle hints to him unbeknownst to Shizu.

Shizu was slow on most things but she was quick to notice Klautz distortion in his emotion as he stared down. But alas, she couldn't have figured out, what he was worried about.

She started having her own train of thoughts making a completely wrong assessment.

Shizu nodded.

'He must have been disheartened with the rumors too.'

While Selena might have a completely different opinion, Shizu felt the need to cheer him up. Both Selena and her had seen different sides of the same coin..

"You really won a glorious match. I had faith in you from the beginning that you would be the one winning big brother!" she continued, "Yet those stupid cretins claimed that Colt only lost because he was too exhausted from the earlier matches…"

She couldn't help but clench her fists as she felt an urge to beat sense into those fools.

But, Klautz's ears twitched as his rolling eyes refocused. His experience and hunch had caught onto something interesting.

'That's interesting.'

"How many people did you hear this from?" Klautz asked as his eyes pierced onto Shizu soul accepting no falsehood.

Shizu bit her tongue as she looked down, not wanting to meet her gaze. She thought hat Klautz already knew about this. But in a fit of rage she had blurted out the last thing that she should be saying to Klautz to cheer him up.

"Many were saying so..."

Shizu didn't want to dishearten Klautz further than he already was. It was quite harsh of them to not accept someone's victory especially since he had worked so hard to achieve it. She couldn't even mention the number of people he had heard it from because it was certainly large.

But contrary to her expectations Klautz burst out into a laughter.

"Ha Ha, looks like someone is pulling the strings already. Who is it this time I wonder? Is it Benton or Gozoto himself?"

Klautz spoke in his soliloquy. He didn't mind the other two people in the room with question marks on their faces.

"Strings?" Shizu asked, tilting her head.

Klautz held onto his chin as he got lost in thought.

"Hmmm, have you realized yet that with the previous duel and my victory, the reputation of the second gen has got cracked with fractures and is not as high anymore as it was supposed to be originally?"

The general public was after all quite foolish. They determine the strength of both sides just based on a single individual and match disregarding everything else. A deaf ear that moved based on rumors alone and didn't based opinion on ground reality.

'After all, collecting information can be quite a pain. It's much easier to rely on rumors and inflate them further.'

With Klautz's victory it was proven that it wasn't impossible for the newbies to defeat the second gen. The second gen were no longer the higher level beings who couldn't be touched and soiled. Little did they know that it was hardly the case. Klautz was an exception. But was there any other exception other than him?

With such a situation, some resistance from the newbies against the second gen was to be expected as they foolishly charge against them only to be crushed again and again till they learn.

"In order to quell any forms of resistance that might take birth from the newbies directed towards the second gen due to lack of fear in their hearts such a measure was taken. Someone is pulling the strings from behind and spreading the rumors to justify that Colt's loss was only because he was fighting an unfair battle and not because I am strong. Whoever is doing this, wants to impose upon the newbies that they should keep their feet on the ground and not fly too high only to have their wings cut off.."

Klautz nodded as Shizu stared at him at apt attention. Indeed she could have never thought in such a way as Klautz did.
