Shinobi From Hell

Chapter 215 - Names Forgotten

The knob on the door twisted, making Klautz on high alert. Klautz gripped onto his weapon.

For some reason, he trusted Verona to not complete her job so soon. That could leave with only one other possibility.

One must note that Klautz had already warned Selena not to approach his room tonight knowing of the dangers. Akihiko and Maebi too had long left the newbie camp leaving no one who would possibly be visiting Klautz.

*swish*

The door opened as a familiar silhouette walked in.

Klautz's eyes widened in surprise. But that face of shock soon turned to a frown.

'Isn't she…'

Klautz had once fought her back at the bonus stage. But Klautz had forgotten her name. In fact, he had no recollection of anything other than her powers. Klautz brows formed a crease as he tried to remember her name.

It was a girl with a slender figure and short structure. She had her hair tied in twin tales that gave her an alluring appearance along with her emerald eyes.

Klautz gripped onto his dagger seemingly prepared for his onslaught. Today, was the first time he was going to use the [Star Dagger] instead of his [Tossias's Demonic Spirit]. The reason was simple. The Star Dagger was more suited to the assassination with its [Ignore Defence] ability.

The Tossais's Demonic Spirit was a great B rank weapon that aided Klautz to be adaptable to anything but it didn't ignore any defense at all. Not to mention that it had infinite durability.

One must remember that in hell ranks only determined the rarity of a weapon and had nothing to do with the strength that a weapon can exert. But generally the rarer the weapon the better the passive skills it had.

It was just that while [Tossia's Demonic Spirit] focused on adaptability, the [Star Dagger] had skills based on the assassination. And that was what Klautz was ought to do.

The girl walked in as she looked left and right hoping to not catch any attention. Her steps were soft and covered that barely left any footprints on the hard floor.

'Now that I think about it, it makes sense why she would only target specific ones for killing. The pattern of her targets fulfills specific criteria for her to assassinate without getting noticed.'

Klautz remembered that she had a rather troublesome teleporting ability. But for her to teleport to a said place she needs to leave behind a plushie toy at the site of teleportation.

One must note that not all newbies were hyper active. After a day of grinding and fighting monsters shedding their blood and sweat, one would hardly have any energy to leave their cozy beds. As such it was only certain targets that allowed her to prepare for murder by leaving the room empty.

'This would also explain how she had escaped my senses.'

Klautz remembers that this girl was specifically skilled at using her teleportation. That would explain how she could kill in a swift without getting detected. After all, before anyone could sniff her out all she had to do was to teleport back to avoid detection.

Klautz smiled.

'All it would take is a single slash from her blind spot.'

He was at a huge advantage here for he knew both the enemy's powers and her weaknesses. All he required was to catch her off guard and make a swift assassination and before she would know it she would be dead. She would hardly get any time to teleport herself at all!

The hard work that Klautz had put in raising his stats sky-high won't go to waste. He had greater stats than the girl both in Agility and his strength too overpowered her defense making her an easy target.

One must note that the girl had a rather rare ability, and the only one with such an ability was Hanley. Unlike her, Hanley used it in a rather peculiar manner, but she did it for good purposes.

'The stage is set.'

As the girl moved around the room looking for the right place to hide her toy, Klautz was faced with a rather strange dilemma.

Klautz was at a cross road and he had a difficult decision to make.

'Now that her identity is exposed I can eliminate her any time. But…'

Klautz was driven by the very reason that the deaths of the newbies would throw hell into chaos. But truth be told, he himself didn't care about the newbies.

Yet that shouldn't be enough of a reason to stop him from slaying the monster in front of him. But there was a different peculiarity.

Akihiko's message.

The message had irked Klautz to no degree but now that he finally had things under his control … now that he knew who the culprit was, he no longer felt threatened; he was looking at the message in another light.

Akihiko did mention capturing the girl instead of killing her. And it also mentioned the involvement of Kishiogakure.

'That means that the girl was just a scapegoat.'

If Klautz kills the girl today and destroys his only leads to Kishiogakure's motives. Won't that be completely useless? For all he knew was that Kishiogakure could employ another newbie as a replacement or worse! Ask their ninjas to murder the newbies.

Wouldn't that be practically Klautz losing everything? Everything would be a waste. He would win tonight's battle for sure but he would lose the war.

The problem won't be solved unless he gets to the roots of this. And for that, he needed information whose the only source at the moment seemed to be the girl.

One must note that Klautz didn't really trust Gozoto at all and suspected him as well. As such, Klautz can't approach him claiming that he finished off the culprit. It would only make him their prime target.

Klautz could only rely on himself.
