Secret Killer

Chapter 46 - Real Killer

Leon entered the room where Mr.L and the rest of the students were supposed to be present, but only Mr.L was there.

When Leon entered the room, it was pitch black with no lights on or any sign of anyone.

Mr.L was sitting on the corner of the last seat, watching Leon and his actions.

Leon could see everything thanks to his super abilities. But he acted as though he didn't see Mr.L.

He tried to leave the room, but Mr.L turned on the light which blinded Leon for a few seconds.

When he came to see again, he saw Mr.L standing in front of him.

They stared at each other for a while until Leon interrupted the silence.

"Where are the others?" Leon asked with a puzzled look on his face.

"Where is Anna Townley?" Mr.L asked with the same expression as Leon, as though he was trying to mimic Leon.

"I don't know. She must be on her way here… I did inform her about the summon," Leon replied with a shrug.

Leon knew that if he and Anna entered the room at the same time, then Mr.L would get more suspicious of them, so he got out of the cab before Anna and made his way to the room While Anna was busy paying the charge and fixing her make-up.

"Where are the others?" Leon asked again. He was trying his best to stay calm.

After a few minutes, Anna entered the room and casually stood in front of Mr.L and Leon.

Then, she turned to Leon and said, "Where were you?"

Anna's acting was something Leon had never seen. In fact, he felt like he should take lessons from her.

"I told you I would come to your apartment, but you weren't there, and the landlord wasn't letting me in even though I—"

"Let's stop the chit-chat and get to the point," Mr.L interrupted Anna and glanced at Leon with an unusual smile on his face. "You asked me where the other students were, right?"

Leon nodded and shot a glance at Anna.

'I was worried that her make-up might wear off after some time, but her face looked as if it was never wounded.'

'After looking at her innocent face, I can't resist the urge to punch her.'

'She somewhat reminds me of Layla, but a bad version of her. She is like a mixture of Layla and Tania.'

"The other students are not coming," Mr.L uttered.

Leon was back to his senses after hearing that. He furrowed his brows and asked, "What did you say?"

"No one is coming," Mr. l uttered with the same unusual smile on his face. "I lied about that."

"Why?"

"I wanted to bring you two here…" Mr.L glanced back and forth at Leon and Anna and said, "And you are here."

Leon frowned his face and uttered, "What is the meaning of this?"

"I wanted to talk about the Ray murder case."

"Isn't the case solved? It was done by the guard who died, right? Or do you still believe the false testimony of the other guard and accuse me of doing it?" Leon talked as though he was the victim.

"Yes." Mr.L nodded and continued, "It is thanks to Anna that the case was solved. I have called you two here to show my gratitude. You helped me solve my 200th case."

"...." Leon knew something was off. 'This is going so smoothly that I am getting chills. What is this piece of shit planning?'

"If you wanted to thank her, then why did you call me here?" Leon groaned.

"To give you the news about the guard who accused you."

"Oh. Did he testify that he was lying?" Leon asked, even though he knew that the guard was long dead.

"Unfortunately, no. The guard was dead by the time we got to his house," Mr.L informed and glanced at Leon to see his reaction.

"What?! He is dead?!" Leon exclaimed.

Leon's acting skills might not be as good as Anna's, but it was better than the acting of the celebrity actors.

"Yes." Mr.L nodded and said, "We have also caught the killer."

'Did he truly catch his wife, or is he just bluffing to see my reaction?' Leon wondered.

"The killer was his wife," Mr.L stated. "She was found on the border of this city. Most likely, she was planning to run away to the 'no law' city."

Leon raised his brows and asked, "So, why are you telling me this? I am sure you aren't allowed to disclose the information of the cases."

"I was just letting you know." Mr.L looked into Leon's eyes with a fierce gaze and uttered, "So you don't feel like I called you here for a different purpose."

"What happened to the kid in the video?" Anna asked Mr.L.

Anna had noticed that things were getting heated between Leon and Mr.L, so she tried to divert the topic.

"The wife was found alone. What do you think happened to the kid?" Mr.L asked Anna.

"I don't know. Maybe she hid him somewhere safe?" Anna guessed.

"Quite the contrary." After a brief pause, he continued, "She killed him. Now here is the next question. Why do you think she killed him?"

"Uh… she thought she would get caught if the kid was with her, so she got rid of him?" Anna guessed.

'Wrong. She killed him because she tasted the pleasure of killing someone. Once the monster inside you is awakened, you don't see the blood relations. You simply kill everyone you see.' There were still times where Leon wanted to kill Layla, but he had learned to control himself.

It was hard at first, but he got used to it.

"That's what she reasoned. But she was lying," Mr.L uttered. "She killed him because she has tasted the pleasure of killing someone."

"...!" Leon nearly showed his reaction on his face, but he managed to calm himself.

'This detective… he is not an ordinary detective. His perceptive skills are something else…' Leon had decided.

'I am going to kill him today.'
