Chapter 312 – “Where did my bracelet go? Who stole it?” (1)

Each word and sentence from the lawyer was like dagger of ice and each and every single one of them plunged at Zhang Kaiyu’s chest. His ears rang and he felt blood in his mouth before he noticed that he had bitten down so hard on his lip that he had broken his skin.

Oh, how familiar were the lawyer’s words!

From his own memories, had had said all those things before in the past. When he spoke those words, he was standing high up with his hands crossed behind his back. He was like the god within his clan and could decide on another’s fate with merely a few words. He had never once felt bad about those whose fate he had decided for. He only felt righteous about his decisions. The Zhang family’s benefits were the first and foremost; didn’t it only make sense to sacrifice individuals over that? How else would the Zhang family have been able to survive for so long after all the obstacles that it had to face in the past and became the reigning medicinal family?

Of course, the him back then never would have thought that he would become the pawn that was being abandoned one day. His sons, much like him back then, had so righteously threw these words right back at him and justifiably asked him to sacrifice himself for the great good of the family.

“Hohoho……” Zhang Kaiyu began to laugh, except that his laughter sounded like bitter bellows from a broken wind box.

The truth of the matters had crushed all of his anticipate and his last bit of hope that he had been hanging onto. His face was grey like a fallen leave and the light in his eyes extinguished.

“Okay, I get it.”

He did not have the lawyer reached out to his old friends any more. His sons couldn’t wait to have him stay in prison. That was perhaps what karma was all about.

Fang JunRong had heard all about the Zhang family. Even if she didn’t make an effort to look into them, there would still be those who were aware of her past beef with the Zhang family and would offer up their information to appease her. Per her team of lawyers, the Zhang family would need to pay a lot of money to get themselves out of this chithole this time and there was no chance of Zhang Kaiyu and Su QinMei getting out of prison.

The actually court hearing wasn’t scheduled for another month or two.

Jiang WenYu had his birth mother’s gravestone redone. At the very minimum, he needed the name Su QinMei gone from it.

Fang JunRong gave him time off specifically and wanted him to get some rest.

Lo and behold, Jiang WenYu had only rested for a couple of days before he ran straight back to his laboratory. What could Fang JunRong say? She could only had the assistants to keep an watchful eye over him and at least make sure he was eating right and getting enough rest.

She was, however, not a workaholic like Jiang WenYu. She believed in resting when resting is due. Now that her precious daughter XinYun’s school was out, Fang JunRong wanted to go on a vacation with them all. Unfortunately, Zhong Yi wasn’t able to make it. She was busy working on the album for Ren DongZhi, the only star that she was responsible for, and having on all kinds of show. She was busy like a spinning top.

It so happened that Fang Tian, the daughter of Fang JunRong’s older brother, was back from overseas. So the three of them decided to go travel together. Oh, and with two bodyguards, of course.

Fang Tian looked like her mother and had two dimples when she smiled. Much like her name, she was coquettish like a little sweetheart. (T/N: “tian” = sweet)

She held Fang JunRong’s hand as soon as she saw her and said, “I shouldn’t have said yes to travelling with Aunty. Others will, for sure, think that you are my little sister when they see us together.”

Fang Tian dressed trendily and that made her appeared mature. Kids her age always wanted to prove to the adults that they were matured.
