Chapter 286 – Her coming here today was a big mistake. (3)

Her second step was to butter up to the upper levels of the chamber of commerce. She didn’t care about the ordinary members. As the president did not present today, she placed her attention on the vice presidents. Vice president Chu was close to Feng Zeyu and had been helping her in networking with others all day long today. That made Su QinMei both envious and jealous. If she was to get close to Chu Zuo, he would most likely turned around invest in that tramp that he was so found of. Naturally, Su QinMei knew better than to pick up a rock and drop it onto her own foot. As such, she turned her attention onto Jia Hongyuan, the other vice president.

As far as she knew, President Jia and Chu Zuo were competitors and there was a lot of beef between the two of them. As the saying goes, my enemy’s enemy is my friend. As such, she brought with her her two boxes of precious medicinal ingredients and went to knock on President Jia’s office door during the afternoon break.

“C’mon in,” said President Jia casually.

Su QinMei could see that he was on the phone with his brows furrowed, obviously not in a very good mood. “What? The flight was delayed? Nevermind. Just keep waiting. And be careful!”

He let out a long sigh. He would continue to be worried as long as the wild ginseng had not yet reached his home.

“President Jia.”

Jia Hongyuan turned his head and noticed that there was someone else in his office. Oh, he seemed to have let her in while he was on the phone. Recognizing who she was, he asked, “What’s the matter?”

Su QinMei put on a smile. “I have brought President Jia some gifts to thank you for all everything that you have done for our family over the years.”

She pushed the box holding the saffron inside toward Jia Hongyuan. Her heart was bleeding. Saffron of this grade doesn’t come by easily.

Jia Hongyuan gave it some thought. No, he did not recall anything that he had done for the Su family in the past. In fact, Chu Zuo had done more for them because of his relationship with Old Mr. Su. He looked at Su QinMei with alarm. Was she going to offer his gift then turn around and report him for accepting bribes?

His face dropped. “I don’t need it. I don’t accept gifts.” He even added, “If you are to thank anyone, don’t you think you should be thanking Lao Chu instead?”

As much as he was in love with Fang JunRong’s wild ginseng, he still paid big money for it. He would rather not leave behind any trail that could be used on him later on.

Su QinMei paused a little. That wasn’t what she had expected. Had he misunderstood that she was in bed with President Chu?

She quickly waved her hands and said, “President Chu and I had nothing to do with each other. He is friendly with Fang JunRong. As such, you can already tell what kind of person he is. I would not want to be associated with him.”

Fang JunRong had given her chest pain all morning long. As such, she had slipped and said her mind. She also didn’t think that Jia Hongyuan would share what she had said. After all, if Jia Hongyuan had a poor relationship with Chu Zuo, he certainly wouldn’t be very close with Fang JunRong.

Jia Hongyuan’s face dropped immediately. “What had Fang JunRong ever done to you that you dislike her so much? She seems quite altruistic to me and better than most others. How did someone ungrateful like you feel that you could speak so poorly of her behind her back?

“Get out of my office. You are dirtying my office.”

Fang JunRong was close to Chu Zuo but she still sold her wild ginseng to himself instead. That must because she deemed that the Jia family could better preserve the wild ginseng. She was obviously a fair and sensible person. Looking back over at Su QinMei, Chu Zuo had helped out the Su family multiple times but, in an effort to appease him, she had no problem badmouthing Lao Chu. He certainly would not want to be in bed with such an ungrateful white-eyed wolf.

He has his own set of principles. If she could backstab Chu Zuo today to befriend him, she would also betray him tomorrow.

Being shouted at by Jia Hongyuan, Su QinMei was stunned. What was it that she had done wrong?

When she was booted out of the office, she was frazzled. She could somewhat heard Jia Hongyuan’s voice coming from inside his office.

“Xiao Liang, come quickly and mop my office floor. It’s been soiled.”

The word “soiled” made its way into her ears and her blood rushed to her head. Her hatred had reached a boiling point and her teeth left a mark on her lip.

Looking at the door that was tightly shut, she had no choice but to leave, defeated. She planned to change her flight and return home today. She was shameful to continue to stay here. The Chamber of Commerce of Medicinal Herbs did not mesh well with her, probably. Her coming over here today was her biggest mistake.
