Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 75 - Difficulty Of Being Perfect

It was still afternoon, but Shane decided to take a look outside because he wanted to figure out how far the Military had progressed.

There was not much he could see from his window, but it was obvious that there were more than the usual number of guards patrolling the shelter. Some of them had even rushed towards the central area.

Shane believed that the military had already arrived and that they took the lead of the shelter.

According to Uncle Lars, they would let the shelter captain step back `voluntarily`, which was as good as getting thrown out according to Shane's understanding of his Uncle's words.

As such, Shane thought that everything would either work out or that the shelter captain would link him to the military's sudden appearance, which might cause him a slight disadvantage.

Either the former captain would be free to go on his own or the military would take him into custody. If he were to be free, he would probably find Shane and hurt him in an attempt to soothe his anger.

If he were taken into custody, he would likely be punished for neglecting his duties, being drunk during duty, and disregarding a possible shelter-annihilating threat that could lead to thousands of deaths and the loss of a shelter.

Either reason was enough to severely punish the shelter captain, but the latter reason was the most dangerous one. It would not only destroy a shelter but also cause the price for a world-protection extension to soar higher, as an additional Dimension portal would be occupied by a foreign race, paving one more path towards Igra.

This would be the most terrifying because even a slight increase in the world-protection extension price would throw mankind into an economic problem.

With the system's existence, it was extremely difficult to take care of taxes, as nobody could supervise transactions, accumulated wealth, and a month's earnings.

As such, everything within the shelters had to pay taxes, which included the inns, restaurants, markets, and so on, while plots purchased by humans to construct such buildings were also expensive.

Only through this, humanity could barely afford the world-protection extension every month or rather a year, as it gave a small discount.

Even if a single shelter was annihilated and the Dimension Portal occupied, it would be devastating for humanity as everything would be chaotic.

However, such cases had happened a few times already and there were always individuals that had to add their private funds in order to secure humanity, which was initially not planned.

These individuals were mostly his father, uncles, and aunts which made Shane proud.

In the end, it was obvious because his family consisted of some of the strongest individuals on Igra, Shane knew.

Furthermore, it was useless for someone at the basic or intermediate dimensions to pay for something like that. His father and friends would have to hunt a single time together in order to earn the same amount in half an hour that others accumulated in a day.

Shane disregarded this though, as he didn't want to think about the possibility that the RadiantRing shelter could be annihilated and destroyed.

With the arrival of the military, he also didn't doubt that everything would be taken care of, sooner or later.

The only thing Shane had to pay attention to was if the military had decided to take offensive measures or act defensively for the time being.

With this in mind, he estimated that it would end in a defensive act until the scouts found out everything necessary. It was more than illogical that the purple-furred wolf race fought each other or against small tribes in order to sustain serious injuries like Shane showed Uncle Lars.

As such, three or more days would most likely be enough to make their own research while holding up their defense. After that, they would start crafting a battle strategy in order to provide enough protection to the shelter while annihilating the shelter's threat.

Shane had only hoped that the scouts would either not find the elemental crystal cave he had visited earlier or that they wouldn't mind it.

He hoped that they would label it as an extremely small habitat of scaled lizards if they were still the dominant race of the elemental cave which Shane wasn't sure about.

Umbra was still evolving and there were more than 60 hours left on the countdown. Thus, Shane decided to try out his newly acquired perfect [Mythic] body refining technique.

He paid a few bronze coins for a basin with warm water to the inn's owner for it, before he took out a [Mortal-(rare)] nutrition solution from his spatial ring, with two tier-1 trash mana stones.

Thinking they might be enough in addition to the rare nutrition solution, Shane placed the mana stones to the left and the right of the basin, before he dissolved the nutrition solution within the warm water.

Diving into the water, Shane almost immediately sensed the difference between uncommon and rare quality nutrition solutions, as his pores automatically.

He released the mana fluctuations from the mana stones in order to accept the mana from within.

Shane was eager to figure out how much of a difference a [Mythic] body refining technique would be, compared to his lower quality one. Thus he took a few deep breaths and stepped inside the basin.

Within the high nutrition water, he began exerting the perfect body refining technique. However, he noticed that his whole body began to ache painfully, as the surrounding mana and nutrition within the water were drawn to him like he was a black hole.

He pondered for a moment if he should take out multiple more mana stones and a nutrition solution but then decided against it. He had to find out how useful his current resources were in order to adjust everything in the following season.

Time seemed to pass slowly and his whole body ached the whole time. The two tier-1 mana stones in addition to the [Mortal-(Rare)] nutrition solution seemed to be already used up after a single hour.

This caused him to frown deeply, as he took out four tier-1 trash quality mana stones with his remaining four uncommon mortal stage mana stones. He then placed them around the basin and poured two rare nutrition solutions into the lukewarm water

. The solution had seeped in his body, invigorating it, while the mana in his surroundings floated towards him as if he was an old acquaintance.

Overwhelmed by the sudden influx of mana and nutrition, Shane tried to regain his senses in order to exert his [Mythic] body refining technique.

Three more hours passed as the last mana particles were absorbed, making his eyes shine brightly.

Curiosity got the better of him and Shane quickly opened his status panel to notice a rather astonishing fact.
