Never Judge

Chapter 408 - 408

"Ian, do you think. . .?" Katerina asked. She couldn't even complete her question, but everyone knew what she wanted to say.

"It would just be 'momnesia'" Raphael Chan said as he observed his daughter.

"Is that even true, Raph?" Benedicto Laurence asked his friend.

"What's momnesia?" Katerina said with a puzzled look on her face.

"Well, a lot of people believe that a woman tends to become more forgetful after giving birth. It's possible that here hormones could have messed with her memory." Raphael Chan explained. "There isn't any solid proof, but it's a highly possible side effect to pregnancy and giving birth."

"Mr. President, Miss Katerina." One of Jose Sebastian's men said in a low tone.

"What is it?" Katerina asked with a sigh.

"Mr. Alexi just posted a statement of his own." The assistant said. It was clear from his demeanour that whatever Alexi had posted would not make Katerina happy.

Cedric quickly took out his phone and went to Alexi's social media account.

"What the fu*k!" Katerina exclaimed as Cedric waited for his phone to load.

When it finally did, Cedric found a photo of Alexi and Jen in bed, clearly naked, and it had a very attention grabbing caption. 'She finally said yes, after two years it's a yes!' Cedric was sure that Alexi intentionally gave his caption two meanings.

"Disgusting!" Katerina exclaimed as she shoved her phone back into her pocket

"Is this what it's supposed to mean?" Jose Sebastian asked as he shook his head at his phone.

"I don't know dad." Katerina said with an irritated shrug. "I wouldn't put it beneath Alexi to suddenly propose to Jen the moment she agreed to be his girlfriend. I swear, I have no idea what my idiot of a brother sees in that woman." Katerina continued to complain.

"Katerina, language." Jose Sebastian scolded. "Your brother still loves her so it's not your place to say things like that."

"Katerina, it's not like you can stop him." Cedric said with a sigh. They might not like Jen, but they wouldn't dare separate Alexi from someone he loved.

"I'm worried that Jen is just using him." Katerina complained. "Now more than ever, I have a feeling she has something to do with Nicole's memory loss."

"I find it suspicious as well that Nicole would forget that her water broke in her office." Adrianna added. "You don't forget things like that."

"I'll talk to Ian and Miguel. We'll look into it." Cedric promised the girls.

"Thank you." Katerina said with a nod. Cedric knew that Katerina wanted to investigate the matter herself, but she wasn't in the right place mentally at the moment.

"We'll figure something out before it's too late." Cedric promised.

Katerina didn't speak. She simply nodded with a weak smile and hugged Cedric.

"Katerina, I'm going home to have a word with your brother. Will you come with me or are you going to your place?" Jose Sebastian asked.

Cedric watched as she looked at her father and at Eric for guidance on what to do.

"Dad, I'm not sure I can face my older brother just yet. I'll go home to my place." Katerina said with a frown.

"I'll watch over her uncle Jose." Eric promised as he held Katerina's hand. "I'll see you at home." Eric said with a smile.

Katerina nodded and left. She and Eric couldn't be seen leaving one after the other and heading towards the same location.

"Ian, a word." Cedric said as he gestured for Ian to step aside with him.

Ian patted his wife's hand and followed Cedric to a vacant room.

"Please tell me you find it suspicious too?" Cedric asked his friend.

"Nicole's memory loss? Yeah, I don't know how she could have mixed that one up." Ian admitted.

"Is there anything from that day that you remember? Any reason she might have forgotten what happened? Or any reason someone would want her to forget something." Cedric asked.

Ian stopped talking for a while as he thought back to the day Nicole had given birth to Tristan.

"Well I remember that morning she already seemed uncomfortable. As if she was hiding something. I was going to confront her after work, then all of a sudden that day I got a call from her assistant saying that she had gone into labor." Ian explained.

"And you didn't think that was important?" Cedric asked as he raised an eyebrow.

"After she gave birth I just assumed that Nicole wasn't feeling like herself because she was about to give birth, maybe she already had a feeling that morning." Ian said with a shrug. "But with her forgetting when her water broke, it makes me very suspicious."

"You mentioned earlier that she had just come from a meeting when her water broke. Could her memory loss be related to that meeting?" Cedric asked, he wanted to explore every possible reason for Nicole to lose her memory.

"Cedric, are you already assuming that what Miguel saw that day was really Jen injecting one of Natalia's serums into Nicole?" Ian said in a nervous tone.

"You'd be lying if you told me you aren't considering it too." Cedric said with a frown.

"Sadly, I am." Ian said with a sigh. "As far as I know that board meeting went smoothly. There were only a few small matters that needed to be settled and it was resolved quickly." Ian said with a shrug.

"But, wasn't Nicole working a little bit later than normal that night?" Cedric asked.

"She was." Ian said with a nod. "From what I remember she said that she was going to talk to some employees."

"Could Jen have been one of them?" Cedric asked Ian.

"I don't know, but we can always check with her assistant." Ian explained.

"Alright do that. Now for the second matter. If that serum was really stolen from Natalia's lab, we need to see if Jen had access to it." Cedric explained.

"We can go over to ask her." Ian suggested.

"Not now, I'll ask her when she's next free to talk." Ceric suggested. "Based on what Alexi posted, I have a feeling he and uncle Jose will be having a lot of words." Cedric said with a sigh.
