My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You

Chapter 371 - We Have All The Time In The World

These days, Shi Nian really felt like there's something off about Jiang Jinyan.

First, she often caught him staring at her face blankly as if he was searching for something there. When she asked him about that, he only shook his head and said that he wanted to look at her longer.

Second, his obsession over Shi Nian's voice intensified. It got to the point where he frequently asked her to recite poems during her stay in the hospital. As far as she knew, Jiang Jinyan was never interested in poems. He was a sports fanatic who was stranded on the history major in the university because he couldn't get into the military. She didn't even know where he got a bunch of poem collections in his hands.

...Could it be?

No, no way. How could it be possible?

However, she also regained the memory of her past life after being in a coma. If she could, then why couldn't Jiang Jinyan?

If he really did recall his past as General Jiang… honestly, Shi Nian didn't know what to feel. She had even told him their past lives under the guise of storytelling and furthermore, she lied saying that they lived happily ever after! If Jiang Jinyan really regained his memory, then her ridiculous lie would be busted!

Shi Nian bit her lips as she stood in front of Jiang Jinyan's door. Taking in a deep breath, she tried to calm herself. No, nothing was certain yet. She shouldn't jump to false conclusions. It might just be the side effects of the concussion just as the doctor said.

Shi Nian knocked on the door and slid it open. "Jinyan…?"

The bed was empty and the door to the veranda was wide open, the curtains fluttering against the wind. Anger rose to Shi Nian's heart. Even though it had stopped snowing, the weather was still freezing nonetheless. What was he doing out there? Did he wish to catch a cold?!

Huffing, Shi Nian put the breakfast she had bought onto the table and proceeded to the veranda, intending to give him a piece of her mind. However, she halted on her tracks when she took in the scene in front of her, stunned.

Jiang Jinyan sat on the wheelchair, his back facing her, still clad in the hospital gown. His hair had grown a little past his shoulder and he tied it into a half bun as usual. After the three weeks coma, his body had thinned considerably and when the gust blew by, Shi Nian had the notion that he, too, would also be blown away.

The sight of his back looked particularly...forlorn.

At that moment, it was as if in front of Shi Nian wasn't her Jinyan, but General Jiang Jinyan of the Wei Dynasty.

Seemingly sensing her presence, he turned around and a thin smile formed on his face. Shi Nian's heart skipped a beat before it started to gallop madly inside her chest.

"Shi Nian," He called out gently and stretched out a hand. "Come."

She was bewitched by that voice and smile. As if under a spell, she found herself approaching him and stopped three steps away. Then, she bent her knees, sat in a Seiza-style and leaned her head against his legs. After that, the man's palm gently landed on her head as if it was the most natural thing to do.

Shi Nian buried her face deeper, her throat choked up.

She couldn't have mistaken it.

...This was her General Jiang.

"It's strange." He said, fingers slowly running through her hair. "These days, I have been dreaming a lot. Of you. Of me. Inside my dreams, we often spent our time like this. Whenever I look back, you're always there, only a few steps behind me. However, you look quite different, you're thinner and you always hesitate to approach me. Actually, I also want to get closer to you but in the end, I always stop myself before I do. It's quite stupid, now that I think about it. I wonder what all these strange images are?"

A sob escaped Shi Nian's lips and she whispered 'general' inaudibly. The warm tears seeped into the fabric of his cloth and Jiang Jinyan finally snapped out of his senses. Shocked, he lifted Shi Nian's face. "Why are you crying?!"

Shi Nian shook her head yet the tears still fell unstoppably.

To think that she wasn't the only one who held onto the memory. To think that she managed to graze a mark in his mind and left her trace there…

Everything was so wonderful, it couldn't be true.

"You're really such a crybaby." He sighed with a helpless tone. Leaning down, he cupped her cheeks and ran his lips over her wet eyelashes, lapping on her tears with the tip of his tongue. "Salty." He commented.

"That's…" She hiccuped. "...for sure!"

Jiang Jinyan chuckled, his cold breath caressed her face and his thumb stroked her cheek in a circular gesture. Then, without any warning, he leaned closer to kiss her nose before it slowly trailed down to her lips.

His lips were cold and chapped yet hers were still warm and moist. Together, they melded into one, starting off with only feeling each other's presence before it morphed into one that was more passionate.

Shi Nian gasped and Jiang Jinyan took the initiative to lick the seam of her lips before slipping his tongue inside. Contrary to his cold lips, his tongue was scorching hot, ravenous, carrying with it the man's sentiments he couldn't put into words.

A moan escaped Shi Nian's lips and she grasped Jiang Jinyan's clothes, her mind turning fuzzy from the fervor in his kisses. Their tongues intertwined, slick and moist, sending shivers down her spine. Every kiss she shared with Jiang Jinyan felt like the first time, with all the butterflies that fluttered wildly in her stomach.

It made her heart palpitate, breath came out short and once again, she marveled on how sensitive a human's tongue could be. It was as if all her nerves were concentrated there, on a dance Jiang Jinyan's tongue invited her to. Every move, every gesture, she became painfully aware of it to the point where she didn't even realize when the man had pulled her up and sat her across his lap.

He yanked her arms forward and brought them around his neck while his lips chased after her and once again crashed into another wild kiss. Shi Nian could do nothing but tightly grasp onto him, her body turning hotter and hotter amidst the cold weather, it was enough to cause her skin to be covered in a layer of perspiration. Jiang Jinyan's body, too, felt feverish. His broad palms rested on her back, stroking and caressing before trailing up to knead the girl's neck.

Everytime he did it, Shi Nian would give a purr, just like Little Apple when it was stroked on its belly.

He felt her every tremble and shiver under his palms and the knowledge that it was him who caused her like this almost drove him insane.

"Jin...yan…" She rasped, the soft mewl sent tingles through his scalp.

Jiang Jinyan panted, his dark eyes reflected nothing but her. He wanted more. He wanted to swallow her whole, to see her flushed expression underneath him, squirming and writhing as he explored her body inch by inch. He wanted her to come apart in his embrace, to learn all the ecstasy he could offer in the world. He wanted to hear her scream his name to the top of her lungs.

His imagination grew further and further, one was more dangerous than the other. However, his overflowing affection and love toward her managed to put a brake on his lustful desire. In the end, he gave her lower lip a bite before pulling away, his eyes hooded with mad longing.

No, not yet. He couldn't do it yet.

He treasured her too much to do this.

"You…" Shi Nian covered her mouth, her teary golden eyes glared at him with accusation. "You bit me again…"

Jiang Jinyan gulped at the sight of her, oh so lovely and ravishing. "Sorry…" He said with a voice so rough and gruffy it resembled sand grinding on paper.

Shi Nian still hadn't recovered from the kiss which seemed to be different again than before. Every kiss he gave her always managed to evoke different feelings from deep within, one that was too embarrassing to be mentioned.

It was only then that Shi Nian realized her position had somehow changed amidst the kiss. Shocked, she scrambled to get up. How could she sit on him when he's still injured like this?! Yet, before she could stand properly, her legs immediately gave out and she would have fallen harshly if Jiang Jinyan didn't catch hold of her.

"S—Sorry…" She blushed, bewildered at how her legs trembled like a newborn calf. "Why…"

Jiang Jinyan was caught off guard by her clueless and adorable reaction. His manhood also slowly calmed down. See, he was right. Shi Nian still wasn't ready to receive all of his fervent passion, just this little bit already rendered her unable to walk. Chuckling, he once again pulled her to sit over his lap.

"Jinyan!" She gasped in shock.

"Hush." Jiang Jinyan bumped his forehead against her. "It's okay. Just this little bit is fine. Allow me to send my girlfriend inside, okay?" Then, he proceeded to push the wheelchair in and closed the door to the veranda.

She huffed angrily. "It's all your fault!"

"Yes, yes, my fault."

"You're so bad! Stinky Jinyan!"

"Right, right, I'm stinky."

"I hate you!"

He paused and raised a brow.

In an instant, Shi Nian cowered. "No, I don't mean what I said…"

"I know." He pecked her forehead. "I know how much you love me."

"H—Hmph." She puffed out her cheeks and turned her head away. "It's good that you know!"

Jiang Jinyan burst into a hearty laughter.

As much as Shi Nian loved the sight of his smile, she also didn't forget to insert a complaint. "Isn't this the time when you're supposed to tell me you love me too?"

"It's okay." Jiang Jinyan lifted her hand to his lips and kissed the back of her hand, all the while measuring the size of her ring finger discreetly. "I will slowly tell you my feelings for the rest of my life. We have all the time in the world, right?"

Shi Nian was taken aback before breaking into a blissful smile. "Yes!"
