My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You

Chapter 340 - I Will Take Care Of Him

Twenty four hours had passed, Jiang Jinyan still hadn't been found.

As soon as Jiang Huocheng heard the news of his son's disappearance, he flew back from the private island and settled in the Capital.

"Welcome, CEO Jiang." Director Fen Huiguan came out of his office and greeted Jiang Huocheng personally. "Actually, there's no need for CEO Jiang to come here in person. We will definitely do our best to find your son."

Jiang Huocheng nodded curtly and made his way inside.

"Please follow me to the office." Director Fen gestured politely.

"No need." Jiang Huocheng refused in a firm tone. "I heard that there's a special division which handle the serial murder case? I want to meet all of them."

Director Fen's smile stiffened. "But…Young Master Jiang's case has nothing to do with the serial killer."

Jiang Huocheng ignored him, his gaze flew past him toward the man behind. "There you are, Mr. Xu."

Xu Binchen stepped forward. "CEO Jiang, it's an honor to have you here."

"Where should we talk?"

"Wait a minute." The veins on Director Fen's forehead popped up. "Mr. Xu, I believe that it's inappropriate to let CEO Jiang enter the messy SCI's office. How about—"

"It's okay." Jiang Huocheng cut him off, an impatient frown on his face. "I know Mr. Xu in person and I trust his skill and capability. I won't bother Director Fen any longer so you may return to your work."

This was a blatant dismissal! Worse, it was done in front of his subordinate!

Xu Binchen kept his expression even as if he heard nothing.

The corner of Director Fen's lips twitched and he nodded slowly. "Then I will leave CEO Jiang in your hands, Mr. Xu." He patted Xu Binchen's shoulder. "You should know what is the proper thing to do, right?"

Xu Binchen resisted the urge to sneer and saluted. "Yes, sir." Turning to Jiang Huocheng, he bowed formally. "Let's go to the conference room, CEO Jiang."

Jiang Huocheng nodded and followed behind Xu Binchen. The two didn't exchange a word until they arrived at the conference room where almost all of the SCI squad and General Crime Division members had been waiting.

When Jiang Huocheng stepped in, everyone stood up and bowed. The atmosphere was unprecedentedly solemn and formal. As the man sat at the head of the table, everyone had the impression that this was a company meeting and they were the head divisions who were waiting to present the quarterly revenue to the Chairman.

"Don't be so formal, everyone." Jiang Huocheng said. "I'm only here because I want to hear your reports personally. I have received the gist from Mr. Xu. First, please tell me the connection between my secretary, Si Zhening, and this case."

Everyone was taken aback. Jiang Huocheng knew about Si Zhening?

"CEO Jiang." Jin Renguang cleared his throat. "May I ask if you've noticed something off about him?"

"I know nothing." Jiang Huocheng frowned. "It's because my son asked me personally that I started to have some doubts. Moreover, Jinyan disappeared right after he sent me the message."

"Message? What message?"

Jiang Huocheng directly gave Jin Renguang his personal phone. "Feel free to check it. If the estimated time of Jinyan's disappearance is according to what you've told me, then there's a possibility that the one who sent the message wasn't him at all."

Jin Renguang passed the phone to Wang Chengbing.

The latter narrowed his eyes as he checked on it.  "It's a possibility. The time the message was sent coincided with the time when Jiang Jinyan's location stopped at Jianshan Intersection. And you call him right at that time too."

Ru Meiqi nodded. "In the first place, it's weird that he didn't pick up the call and sent a message to brush off the topic when he's the one who brought it up first. The possibility of it being sent by another person is 95%."

Xu Binchen, who was silent, suddenly interjected. "Is it possible that Jiang Jinyan had sent something before his phone was thrown away?" When everyone's eyes turned to him, he added. "Based on what I've known of him, he doesn't seem like a careless person. I'm sure he must have left something behind in case anything happened to him."

"That's right!" Wang Chengbing slapped his thigh, his eyes twinkled. He proceeded to type furiously on his laptop. "Hmm, on the surface, he didn't send anything but let's see if I can dig something…."

He had had enough of being fooled—by his own creation at that. Of course Wang Chengbing wouldn't say it outright. He had gotten more alert after being tripped twice because of the product he sold to Jia Renyu.

"Oh!" He paused, eyes widening. "...He did indeed send something."

"What is it?"

Wang Chengbing turned his laptop around. "An SOS message to Xu Binchen. On it was a location marked at a dessert shop to Jianshan Intersection."

"Where is the dessert shop?" Xu Binchen stood up readily and dashed out after receiving an answer.

In the meantime, Jin Renguang filled Jiang Huocheng in on the suspicion regarding Si Zhening. The more he spoke, the grimer Jiang Huocheng's face became. Until the end, he massaged his brows and gave a sigh. "It's such a shame. I really didn't notice anything… So that's why I felt like I had heard Miss Shi's name somewhere so it turns out she's hospitalized at the same time as Jinyan that time."

Jiang Huocheng tapped his fingers on the armchair, pondering. "You said that Director Fen might have colluded with Nan Cheng to hide the truth? Ha… Nan Cheng, that asshole." He sneered and said coldly. "Detective Jin, you should do your job properly and don't worry about unnecessary matters. About Nan Cheng, I will take care of him. More importantly, I wish to see my son unharmed."

Jin Renguang let out a sigh of relief inwardly. Now that they had Jiang Huocheng on their side, the scale of power had finally reached an equilibrium.

He let out a polite smile and nodded. "Of course, Sir. We shall do our best."
