My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You

Chapter 300 - If I Couldn't Even Defend My Son

Her whole body trembled violently and her heart was further pushed to the brink of despair when Father Ruo answered. "Well…if Boss wants to, I can't bear to object. But I must highlight that my daughter is the cream of the crop. She's beautiful, smart and has a great body. Boss—"

The man barked out a laugh. "Don't worry, Boss will definitely reward you greatly!"

Father Ruo revealed a satisfied and relieved nod.

Ruo Tingran's pupils dilated in anguish, strength seeping out of her whole body. Two men started to approach her and she scrambled back in panic. "Don't touch me! Don't touch me, you bastard! Father, Mother, please! Help me, I don't want this…!"

It was no use though. Her strength couldn't even be mentioned in face of two powerful and brawny men. Ruo Tingran resisted with all of her strength yet for them, it was just like a kitten trying to brandish her claws. It was ticklish and adorable, tempting them to cut the sharp nails off.

Right at that moment, the gate opened and a man in European features came out wearing a trench coat.

"Ah, there you are Bruce!"

Bruce swept his gaze over the people and landed on Ruo Tingran who had curled herself up on the ground. He only raised a brow and didn't comment anything. "Ready?"

"Yup. You can leave whenever you want."

"How many people do you have?"

Albeit it was kinda strange, the brawny leader still answered. "Only five of us. What's wrong?"

"Nothing, just that…" All of a sudden, Bruce pulled out a gun and pointed it right on the man's forehead. "The deal's off."

Everyone was too stunned to react. Surprisingly, Father Ruo recovered his senses first and took off running. He was especially fast with a burst of adrenaline surging on his veins, leaving his wife and daughter behind for a chance of survival.

"Bruce!" The black man hollered. "What is the meaning of this?!"

All of a sudden, men in police uniforms poured into the boarding area and subdued Father Ruo who had almost run away, dragging him back. Ruo Tingran and her mother didn't need any of that, they had already been scared shitless.

The black men thought that this was only a simple task of escorting some people to the airport thus they didn't take any special precaution and only had a simple dagger inside their clothes. How could these people cope with fire armed police officers?!

"Take out all of your weapons and kneel down!" The muzzles were pointed at the back of their heads. Five men slowly raised their hands and threw their knives out, kneeling with their heads bowed.

The leader looked at Bruce in the middle of the police officers with hatred. "Bruce, you're also one of us! Don't think you can get off scot free just because you sold us out! I will drag you down with me!"

Bruce lit up a cigarette and exhaled a puff of smoke. He casually took out a FBI badge and flashed it in front of the man, earning him a disbelief stare.

"How—How can this be?! How long have you been with us? Seven years? Eight years? Why are you revealing yourself right now?!" The man bellowed in rage and disbelief.

Bruce leaned forward and whispered into the man's ears. "Someone more powerful than Boss wants the man you're escorting. I would say that your luck is out, man. You have offended someone you shouldn't."

The scene was quickly taken care of. A handcuff was put on Father Ruo's wrist, and his back was pressed to the ground, ceasing all of his desperate struggles. Similarly, Ruo Tingran and her mother were also apprehended.

The familiar Chinese language flowed out from the police officer's mouth. "Ruo Lianfen, you're arrested for drug and firearms transaction, embezzlement, forgery of confidential documents and bribery. You may call a lawyer to defend you and all you say right now can be used against you in the court."

"Yin Fanjia, you're arrested as your husband's accomplice and helping him to escape from the country. Lastly, Ruo Tingran..." Pausing, the police officer gave the young, frightened girl a sympathetic look. "You are being sued by the CEO of Jiang Corporation, Jiang Huocheng, for your harmful and deliberate act to injure his son, Jiang Jinyan. CEO Jiang has insured his son's limbs for a hundred million USD each and you practically injured his entire body, so now you ought to pay the fine of six hundred million USD. If you can't pay it off, then you have to squat in jail, Miss." He shook his head in pity. "Why should you go and offend people you shouldn't?"

Ruo Tingran's vision blackened as she gasped. "S—Six hundred million dollars? I—" Even if they were still the wealthy Ruo Family, this amount of money was exorbitantly insane, let alone now that they had fallen from grace! She grabbed onto the police officer's trousers, desperate. "Please, I am innocent. I don't even know who CEO Jiang's son is! You have to believe me!"

Her wrist was handcuffed in the next second. "You can plead for your innocence in the court later."

She looked at the thick metal around her wrist and her eyes rolled backward, fainting.

The Ruo Family was brought back to China on that exact day and proceeded to be thrown behind the cells until the time when they would be put into trial. With this, the curtain to the event finally closed.

One thing for certain was: they would never get back up ever again.

Just like that, the once powerful and prestigious Ruo Family slowly disappeared from high society. Their ridiculous act was discussed widely among the upper echelon for a period of time.

Of course, this was the event for another day.

In the tropical island, Jiang Huocheng's treatment room.

He was holding a tablet in one hand while the other was held by Doctor Walker as the latter injected a daily dose of medicine. "Stop working, I told you. Do you want to collapse and worry your son again?"

Speaking of Jiang Jinyan, Jiang Huocheng finally put down the tablet and pulled up the blanket, sighing. "Secretary Deng, how is it?"

"Everything has been taken care of, Sir." Deng Chuqian answered politely. "The Ruo's reputation has been destroyed thoroughly so it's certain that nobody will help them pay off the debt. Even if they can someday get out of jail, their lives are practically ruined now."

The corner of Jiang Huocheng's lips curled into a cold smile.

Seeing that, Doctor Walker lightly slapped his arm. "Do you have to go to such a length? Poor girl, how old is she? Seventeen? Eighteen? She's even the same age as your little daughter-in-law!"

Jiang Huocheng let out a hmph. The medicine slowly kicked in and he started to grow drowsy. "If I couldn't even defend my son like this, I would have built my empire for naught." He turned to Deng Chuqian and ordered. "The officials and ministers who helped them out of the country, tip them off to Chief Song of Police HQ. There's no need for them to keep their position any longer."

Deng Chuqian smiled and nodded. "Yes, sir."

Jiang Huocheng's eyelids fluttered shut and he slowly dozed off.

Doctor Walker looked at him with a helpless smile, shaking his head. "If you're just a little more honest in front of Young Master Jiang, then your relationship will not be so bad."
