My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You

Chapter 275 - Want To Continue?

In one glance, the apartment building amidst the boisterous city looked no different than the other. It had fifteen floors with the walls painted in soft, creamy colors. Clean ceramic tiles. Brightly lit rooms. When one stepped in, there would be a polite, smiley and courteous receptionist greeting them. No matter from which angle it was seen, it looked very homey and pleasant.

However, no one knew that this ordinary apartment building was the nest for the members in the mafia organization.

After escaping from the gruesome scene a few days ago, Sui Chenyou returned with a broken nose, internal injuries, bruises and ruined fingers.

Everyone was shocked. Didn't Bro Sui just go out to teach some girl a lesson? How could he return like this? Moreover, where's the other four who went with him?!

"G–Go ah! Go and give Bro Sui a treatment!"

"Ah, okay!"

They didn't dare to ask any questions because Bro Sui's face was too terrifying! His face darkened, eyes bloodshot with lips turned downward. Coupled with the blood staining his face and all over his body, he looked like he was going for a kill with the slightest provocation!

Bro Sui breathed heavily, blood dripping down his head. He twisted his stiff jaw. The aftermath of the flying kick which Jiang Jinyan had delivered still lingered there. His teeth ached every time he recalled it. Heh, fortunately, Bro Sui grinned viciously. He wasn't injured in vain because he managed to wound the other person enough to kill.

Still, Bro Sui couldn't reconcile. Having to fail this kind of easy mission was too embarrassing and he even had to lose four men!

The four members lounging in the tenth floor lobby gulped when they heard loud smashing and breaking sounds coming from the closed door of Sui Chenyou's room. A few moments later, the guy giving treatment came out supporting himself, a bleeding gash on his shoulder.

"Damn, Little Ming!" A senior pulled him aside and helped to bandage his wound. With his voice lowered, he asked, "What happened? Who made our Bro Sui so angry?"

Little Ming's face was still pale. He shook his head, sighing. "Can't afford to ask. I only applied splints to his nose and fingers and already had to bear his wrath. If I ask any more, wouldn't I be killed already?"

Little Ming was a scrawny, cowardly man with thick glasses on his nose. He used to be a good student in a prestigious medical university. However, a mishap happened when he was interning in the hospital. He was accused of malpractice and if he didn't take shelter in the mafia using his medical skill at its best, he would have been thrown into jail.

Hearing Little Ming's words, the seniors around him laughed wryly, cold sweat dripping down their backs.

"Then...we should leave Bro Sui alone for a while and wait for him to calm down."

"Yes yes, we should do it just like that!"

It wasn't the first time for them to be injured during missions but it wasn't the case for Bro Sui. He had been in this organization for a long time, making him the most senior out of them. He was ruthless, capable and bloodthirsty.

Upon knowing that a rich missy had hired Bro Sui to personally make an appearance to scare a high school girl, they had even lit a candle for the girl and prepared to fetch her corpse and dispose of it somewhere else. Who could guess that the table would turn all of a sudden?!

For a whole two days, they kept on hearing Bro Sui smashing things in his room and it wasn't until the third day that he was finally willing to come out.

"Bro Sui!"

"Bro Sui, you're here!"

"Have you eaten dinner yet?"

Today, there were only three members in the area; Little Ming, Lang Xi the second most senior and a robust yet short man Dong Jingcuo.

The bruises on Bro Sui's face were black and blue, making him look more hideous than usual. He had a splint on his nose and a cast on his arm which slung around his neck. He grunted and took a seat on the sofa, lighting up a cigarette along the way. "Haven't eaten yet. Cook me some noodles."

"Aye aye!" Dong Jingcuo stood up and dashed to the pantry.

They knew that Bro Sui coming out meant he was ready to talk. A huge pot was quickly put on the table with hot, fragrant noodles bubbling inside. They each took a plate and grabbed a share while Little Ming prepared Bro Sui's portion and served it to him.

For a few moments, only the slurping and chewing sounds could be heard. After filling his stomach until he was warm all over, Bro Sui spoke out, "How about Hei Rong and others? Has anyone probed around yet?"

"I have." Dong Jingcuo answered. He gasped due to the spiciness and had to gulp down a few mouthfuls of water before answering. "They are treated in the Central Hospital. It seems like their conditions are quite severe. I heard that Hei Rong even lost both of his eyes and Hu Keran's testicles are broken."

Little Ming and Lang Xi inhaled sharply. The latter even grimaced and covered his lower part as if he could feel the pain Hu Keran went through.

"I can't get close because the police is guarding their room." Turning to Bro Sui, Dong Jingcuo asked gingerly. "Bro Sui...what happened exactly? The whole situation looked a bit unusual. Did we somehow mess with the wrong person?"

His head was instantly slapped by Lang Xi beside him. "What are you saying? Don't you already know our criterion of receiving clients? We have even scanned their background thoroughly!"

That's right. Their movements were closely monitored by the police so they didn't dare to casually accept missions. At most, they only dealt with debtors, traitors, and some ordinary people. That's how they maintained their status all the while exerting fear on people.

"Bro Sui, I have got a hold of Miss Ruo." Lang Xi said. "She has already wired the money to us but she asked that we will not have any contact with each other again in the future. She sounded a little weird, like she was terrified of something."

Ruo Tingran was the daughter of the prestigious Ruo Family. Even when contacting them for the first time, her tone was absolutely arrogant and condescending like it was beneath her to talk to them. They had already seen all kinds of people though hence they didn't take her behavior into offense as long as she fulfilled the other end of the transaction.

Yet now, Miss Ruo suddenly wanted to back away? This...what had actually happened?

They looked at each other in apprehension.

"Bro Sui, who exactly did you fight so badly with?" Little Ming asked tremblingly.

Bro Sui licked his gum, eyes darkening. "Just a tough brat, no one important. But it indeed seems a bit unusual, almost like the police are hoarding a treasure and scared that we will scratch it…"

Bro Sui's words died down in his throat and his eyes suddenly grew sharp like a predator. He flipped the long table, overturning the pot, plates, and noodles. "Everybody, get down!"

The conditioned reflex trained into their bones compelled them to follow the order without hesitation. Little Ming screamed as Lang Xi dragged and pushed his head down.

Bro Sui used the cover of the long table and rolled over the ground to where the telescope was. The rest of the members scrambled away like flies, each taking shelter on the blind spot away from the French window.

Red dots! They saw red dots flying around!

"Who the fuck can still walk around with firearms in the middle of the city?!" Dong Jingcuo cursed vehemently.

"Damn it, damn it, damn it! My noodles! There's still a whole poached egg inside the pot! I am going to kill the son of those bitches! Aiyah you–Little Ming, what are you crying about?!"

Bro Sui squinted into the telescope and saw a few men on the other side of the building, each with a sniper rifle in their possession!

As Bro Sui looked at them, they were also locking onto Bro Sui's position. "Damn it!" Bro Sui gave a low curse as red dots landed on his arms and thighs. Shivers ran down his spine and he rolled over on the ground again, almost making a sorry figure.

Dong Jingcuo's eyes widened as he yanked Bro Sui behind the sofa while he himself ducked into another hiding place.

Tsing! Tsing! Tsing!

Three bullets pierced through the glass window and landed onto the ground where Bro Sui was a second ago. Sui Chenyou looked at the holes on the ground, sweat dotted his forehead. If Dong Jingcuo hadn't pulled him in, he...he would have been shot!

Crash!

The window shattered into pieces instantly, and accompanied by a sharp, whistling wind were a few lethal bullets. The silencer worked wonders to muffle the roar of the gun and no one even knew that an intense round of gunfire was going off in the middle of the city.

Just in a span of five minutes, the tenth floor lobby was utterly destroyed. Damaged sofa, flying feathers, broken glasses and furniture, holes on the ground, smell of gunpowder and dust in the air…

"Fuck! Bro Sui, they are targeting you, aren't they?! Those people really want to cripple you! How dare they?! Aren't they scared that those police hound dogs will sniff them out?!" Dong Jingcuo popped his head out, enraged.

"No." Bro Sui still had cold sweat as he recalled how close he was to being pierced by the bullets. "It's the police outside."

Little Ming's face paled. The police?! He...He was most afraid of them. "What should we do?! W–Why are they here?"

Dong Jingcuo cursed, "Fuck, they are provoking us!"

Lang Xi pressed Little Ming's head down to the ground and suddenly recalled the most important thing. "Wait, how can they find out about this place?!"

True to Bro Sui's words, in the next second, the deafening chuff of helicopter blades closed in and a beam of light shot into the apartment building's tenth floor whose window had already broken.

A cold voice transmitted from the speaker. "We have already surrounded this building. Don't try anything funny because we have evacuated the citizens around the perimeter. Sui Chenyou, come out or else we will kill everyone inside."

Faintly, they could hear the shrill screams of the receptionist lady downstairs.

Dong Jingcuo burst into curses and swears. He wasn't some herbivore who would cower in face of threats! Back in the day, even those higher ups in the army had to take caution when they saw him!

"You dare?!" He rushed into the middle of the room and stood under the glaring lights, furious."Come ah! Come and shoot me! I would like to know which police officer dares to kill a civilian!"

Lang Xi's jaws dropped to the ground. "Dong Jingcuo! You...Come back here!"

"A civilian?" Cold, mocking laughter followed. An ominous premonition flashed through Bro Sui's heart and he had just propped himself up, wanting to drag the hot tempered Dong Jingcuo away. Alas, he was a tad too late. In the next second, a sharp whistle flew past his head.

He looked up in shock and Dong Jingcuo who was just shouting earlier tumbling down with wide eyes filled with incredulity. His pupils dilated and slowly landed on Sui Chenyou. "Bro Sui…" He couldn't finish what he wanted to say as his body already toppled down, spasming, blood pouring out from the hole on his chest.

"Aaaaaah!" Little Ming covered his head and screamed hysterically.

"Brother Dong...fuck!" Lang Xi paled, his eyes reddened.

Sui Chenyou's head buzzed and his entire body trembled. Whether it was from fear or anger, nobody knew. Maybe a mixture of both.

The indifferent, frosty voice outside continued. Just that, it suddenly sounded quite far, like someone was covering Sui Chenyou's ears.

"Want to continue? I can kill some more. If worse comes to worst, I can just quit being a police officer."
