My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You

Chapter 199 - Not Missing Me?

Capital City's airport, arrival terminal.

As usual, the VIP lounge was desolate of people. Only a few staff members and wandering passersby could be seen. One or two men with suits were sitting on the sofas with small suitcases by their feet, talking to their phones while checking on the time

Then, the double door that was usually closed was pushed open, followed by a smiling and bowing staff. "We hope you have a pleasant day, Mr. Jin."

The man who strode out was very eye-catching. His height was already a cheat. Coupled with the proportional body, taut skin filled with muscles, narrow waist, long legs covered in black boots, he attracted everyone's gazes. But the related person didn't seem to care. Huge, black sunglasses hung on his nose, and the chin and lips that were exposed looked particularly cold and indifferent.

.

He led a bunch of people behind him, all wearing casual backpacks and black sunglasses, like a group of wealthy second generation young masters who had just come back from a vacation. Fortunately, they were all wearing casual shirts and not suits or else the scene would look like one that came out of MIB[1].

Outside, there was already an off road Jeep that was waiting, a petite woman with light brown curls that reached her waist was leaning on the car, her eyes unfocused as if she was in a daze.

Upon seeing her, the tall man on the very front instantly quickened his steps, leaving the tails following him behind. He arrived in front of the woman in less than three seconds and pushed up his sunglasses, showing a pair of black, sharp eyes and straight eyebrows. His lips curled into a faint smirk. "Sorry to make you wait." A low, pleasant male voice drawled out like a lazy Persian cat.

The woman took a glance and only grunted. She threw the car key which was easily caught by the man. "Five more minutes and I would have left."

Jin Renguang chuckled, as if he had gotten used to her cynical remark. Using the advantage of his large body and tall height, he blocked her from everyone's eyes and leaned forward, his lips moved to whisper into her ear, "Not missing me?"

Ru Meiqi snorted, "Not even a bit."

She pushed him away ruthlessly and climbed onto the passenger seat.

Instead of being angry, Jin Renguang seemed to be in a better mood. His exhaustion and irritation these past few days seemed to have been wiped away after seeing her.

Subsequently, behind him, Tang Wei, Ke Shao and every member of SCI Squad arrived. "Senior Ru! It's been a long time!"

"Thank you for coming to meet us!"

"Ah, I am starving!"

"I'd prefer to sleep rather than eat though..."

Ru Meiqi rolled down the window. Her expression was contrastly different from how it was when she faced Jin Renguang. A friendly smile hung on her lips. "Then, shall we eat first? What would you like?"

The group of tired as dog men chorused, "Hotpot!"

In such a cold, overcast weather, eating something hot and spicy would always be the best.

Jin Renguang used to live in the Capital before. It was because he was assigned to the serial murder case that he moved from place to place, chasing the culprit from City S, City A then back to the Capital.

He drove them to a famous hotpot place and opened a private room. They had been tortured by paperworks for the past few days because of Ru Meiqi's suggestion of making Wu Wengen's death public, then threw the blame to the serial killer's head.

It was indeed her idea, but Jin Renguang took the full blame. He was even berated by Director Fen Huiguan and thoroughly disciplined until he had psychological shadow when he neared the latter's office. In the end, the whole squad was punished to write endless reports and after Jin Renguang convinced Director Fen by placing his job on the line, he was finally liberated. It caused their move to be postponed until today.

The voracious men didn't hold back any longer. They drained their Captain's wallet and the restaurant's foodstock, causing the manager to be so scared that he broke out in cold sweat and fearfully gave them free coupons to satisfy their craving.

Jin Renguang almost laughed in anger. He threw the meat into the boiling hotpot and grinded his teeth. "You rascals! Did I not feed you these past few days?!"

"Captain, you don't understand." Ke Shao huffed as he munched heartily, white mist blowing out of his mouth. "It's exactly because you're treating that it becomes more delicious."

"Yes, that's right!" Tang Wei had even taken off his glasses, turning him from an unattractive bookish nerd to a wide eyed young man that looked a bit childish. "We should eat as much as possible before we continue to work!"

Jin Renguang snorted and placed some cooked pieces of meat into Ru Meiqi's bowl which the woman finished in a blink of an eye. She was so fast and didn't lose out to the group of men. Heck, if she was slower, then everything would be gone in an instant!

Captain Jin was subsequently ignored and only when the group was full to the point of bursting did they finally stop.

"I can't…I can't eat anymore...bleurgh!" Tang Wei heaved, pushed his chair back and dashed to the bathroom.

Ke Shao cackled as he bit on a toothpick.

"Full?" Jin Renguang asked softly as he poured the cold tea away and replaced it with a hot one.

Ru Meiqi nodded, her face relaxing as she enjoyed the Chrysanthemum tea. "Go and pay." She waved her hand lazily.

After feeding his subordinates, Jin Renguang proceeded to drive into the police station. The first thing he asked was, "Where's Xu Binchen and Qin Weizhe?"

"Xu Binchen is taking the evening off." Ru Meiqi said beside him. "Qin Weizhe is busy with a suicide case in Shi Nian's school."

It was rare for the workaholic Xu Binchen to take half a day off. He was the kind of man who, even if it rained bullets, would still drag his feet to work. "Oh?" Jin Renguang raised his brow, intrigued. "What is Xu Binchen taking the day off for?"

They walked toward the huge meeting room and took their seats. "He's taking Shi Nian to school."

Jin Renguang movement halted. He even suspected that he heard wrong. "…What?"

Ru Meiqi deadpanned, "You heard it right."

Jin Renguang laughed with a smile that didn't reach his eyes. In the end, he didn't comment. He told everybody in the room. "We will begin the meeting after Qin Weizhe and Xu Binchen come back." Then, he turned to Ru Meiqi, his dark eyes flashing. "Tell me about the suicide case in Butterfly's school."
