My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You

Chapter 174 - The Little Stalker Is Back Again

Shi Nian didn't know why, but amidst hundreds of people, she would be able to find Jiang Jinyan just in a single glance. Maybe because the sight of his back had been deeply embedded in her mind. Or maybe because she had spent many, many long hours on countless days by staring at his back.

As long as she could see that straight, slender back, she would feel an unprecedented joy and happiness burst forth her chest.

Jiang Jinyan didn't know that there would be someone trailing after him twenty meters behind. He was too absorbed in his own world. However, his unique temperament still managed to attract people's gaze. It was fortunate that he was wearing a mask or else he would definitely be swarmed.

Shi Nian couldn't suppress her smile as she walked behind him.

It was as if she had returned to those days, when General Jiang brought her out to the market because she was too isolated from the whole world, only holing herself up in his residence as she took care of his flower garden.

Wearing his black armor, he would be the formidable General feared by many. But now that he had taken it off and only clad in a simple black robe, he looked many times better than the most beautiful courtesan in the entire town.

Of course, after people saw the scar on his face, they would discover his identity and scampered away fearfully. Thus no matter how attractive he was, no one dared to bother him, making his walk exceedingly peaceful and leisurely.

General Jiang realized that he could hear nothing after walking for a while. He turned around, amused to find her following behind like a crawling snail. "Keep up," he said.

Shi Nian shook her head.

She didn't care about rumors about her. But she did care about what people were saying about him. He had already been questioned so badly after sheltering her, she didn't want any other bad topic to pop up again because of this.

General Jiang raised a brow, seemingly exasperated. He said nothing afterward, but his walking speed lowered significantly. Even then, Shi Nian kept her distance and stared at his silhouette, peace and serenity she never felt before filled her entire being.

Shi Nian's phone vibrated, snapping her out of her past memories. She ignored the bombardment of messages from Mo Ling in their chat group and opened Xu Binchen's message.

[Xu Binchen]: Has your class ended?

Shi Nian replied with her head lowered.

[Ten Years]: En. Walking back now.

[Ten Years]: On my way to the subway station.

The distance between Sangzhe High and her apartment wasn't far, only two stations away. That's why Shi Nian rejected Xu Binchen's offer to pick her up, it was too troublesome and time consuming on his part.

After that, Xu Binchen didn't answer anymore so Shi Nian slipped the phone into her pocket. Lifting her head, she panicked when she couldn't find Jiang Jinyan in front of her. How could he disappear just like that?!

This road led straight to the subway station so whoever wanted to go there would walk through here.

Shi Nian looked around anxiously and her heart fell back to her chest when she found Jiang Jinyan turned into a convenience store. She hastily chased after him all the while maintaining their distance.

However, she had no idea that her reflection could be seen on the glass door of the convenience store. Thus, when Jiang Jinyan pulled open the door, his eyes inadvertently caught sight of an approaching girl in school uniform, golden eyes staring at him happily.

Jiang Jinyan: "…."

The little stalker is back again, huh?

His steps halted only for a split second before he decisively walked in.

"Welcome." A man with shamate hairstyle behind the counter looked up casually before lowering his head again to look at his phone.

Jiang Jinyan looked around. At first, he was attracted by the meatbun poster in front of the store. But now, he opted to walk around the shelf to the potato chips section. The shelf covered his body but from his direction, he could clearly see the door.

As he expected, a few moments later, the door was opened and the bell hung atop of it jingled lightly, followed by the shamate man's monotone greeting. "Welcome."

Shi Nian looked around and saw Jiang Jinyan's back circling around the shelf. She hastily hid on the magazine counter and pretended to pick one up, using the book to cover her face. Her eyes trailed after him, trying to discover what he's trying to buy.

Speaking of it, she didn't know what Jiang Jinyan's likes and dislikes in this life. Would his taste remain the same? Or has it changed already?

Jiang Jinyan looked at the variety of potato chips, his face contemplating. However in the end, he didn't choose anything but walked away.

Shi Nian felt like his expression didn't seem quite right. Thus after he was gone, she tiptoed to the shelf to see what he was looking at. Just a new brand of potato chips with cheddar and sour cream flavor. Did he like this? Shi Nian recalled that Jiang Jinyan hated anything sweet and sour…

A hand suddenly touched her shoulder and the deeply focused Shi Nian was frightened so badly that she jumped and bumped against the shelf in front of her!

The thin plastic shelf swayed dangerously and the potato chips above her head fell forward.

Shi Nian's pupils shrunk as she subconsciously protected her head and shut her eyes tight! Why was she so unlucky? Last time, it was a ball and this time, it was the rain of potato chips!

A loud bang sounded as the shelf found its balance due to someone's hand grasping it right. The nearly fallen potato chips were blocked and at the same time, an arm wrapped against her waist, pulling her away from the shelf and into a warm and solid embrace.

Faint, cool fragrance entered her nose as Shi Nian's eyes snapped open in shock.

Jiang Jinyan's face appeared right in front of her eyes, the distance between them so close that she could feel his thumping heartbeat. One of his arms shot out to balance the shelf while the other was around her waist. With this movement, it was like he was kabedon-ing her against the shelf.

No matter from which angle, it looked very…scandalous.
