My Dearest General: It Has Always Been You

Xu Binchen and Ru Meiqi's eyes met and the latter lowered her head to whisper in the girl's ears. "Calm down. We will not do anything to you."

The girl was instantly stunned in place, looking at Ru Meiqi incredulously.

Xu Binchen played with the lighter in his hands. Click click. The rhythmic sounds amplified along with the girl's harsh breathing. He pulled out a small bug detector from deep inside his suit and made his way around. When he got to the bedroom and the third closed door, as he expected, the green light turned into a fast blinking red.

Xu Binchen sneered.

He had to commend Si Yusheng for his caution.

If he and Ru Meiqi were to lower their guard even for a moment, then they would have been busted.

He gave Ru Meiqi a meaningful glance and the woman cooperated. She whispered some words in the girl's ears and yelled out loud like a shrew. "You...damn it! How dare you try to attack me?! Let's see how I will teach you a lesson! You're not even worthy of licking Young Master Xu's shoes!"

Fortunately, even though the girl was scared shitless, she was quite bright. She started to let out struggling and pained screams. "Sorry, I don't mean to do that…sorry…"

Xu Binchen finished going around the room and found three other listening bugs. Fortunately, there weren't any hidden cameras left. It seems like his warning was useful.

In the next moment, they enacted a scene where shuffle and struggle broke out, exactly to the point where Ru Meiqi knocked down the listening bug in the bedroom and crushed it with her high heels. Then, they slammed the bedroom door shut with a loud bang that was enough to shake down the chandelier.

Finally, peace returned. Ru Meiqi's hair was a mess and her breath was heavy. The girl didn't seem any better though. But the infuriating thing was how Xu Binchen still looked perfectly suave with not even a strand of hair that was out of place. After he made one last round around the room and confirmed that there's no listening bug left, he slipped the thing back inside his suit.

Ru Meiqi let go of the girl and sank down to the couch like a lazy sloth.

The girl stood tensely, fearful with a hint of hope. "Y—You guys, who are you?"

"Don't speak too much." Xu Binchen spoke out. "Just know that we don't mean you harm."

The girl shrank her neck in fear of being blasted by Xu Binchen's icy aura. The ace investigator came online in the next second.

"Name."

"L—Lei Liqiu."

"Age."

"Twenty three."

"How long have you been here?"

The girl became calmer as time passed along. She even looked like she was itching to break her skull and show it all to Xu Binchen. Finally…finally her savior arrived! She wiped her tears and stammered. "It's been…two months."

"Are you a willing party?"

"What?" She lifted her head in shock only to find Xu Binchen's piercing eyes staring straight at her.

As always—Ru Meiqi rolled her eyes—this man didn't know how to add a filter to his mouth. She pulled the girl down to the couch to sit beside her, holding her hands firmly. "Don't worry, just answer as best as you can."

Xu Binchen pressed on. "I'm asking, are you a willing party in this exchange?"

They played the part of good cop bad cop seamlessly. One was tasked with comforting her while the other played a big bad villain.

As expected, the naive Lei Liqiu's face turned crimson, half in shame and half in anger. "H—How can I be willing?!"

"Shush," Xu Binchen cut her off. "Lower your voice."

Lei Liqiu hiccupped. "I…I worked here as a waitress. It's my friend who introduced me to this job. Saying that I will earn big buckets of money. Who knows…who knows that…" She couldn't speak anymore and began to cry softly.

Xu Binchen got a headache everytime someone cried and he didn't want to prolong this interrogation any longer. "What's your friend's name?"

She choked on her sobs, looking very wretched and pitiful. "Zhu Zhenli."

Xu Binchen saw through her in a glance. "Boyfriend?"

Lei Liqiu's eyes widened in shock and then she nodded weakly, mortified and sad.

Xu Binchen sneered. The boyfriend selled his girlfriend to a bar to be a toy for rich people to play with. Did he know the truth and cooperated with Si Yusheng or was he innocent? Xu Binchen was inclined toward the former.

Human's greed knew no bounds. They could act like a desperate and dying man just to pull you down to the abyss together. He had learned it in a hard way and it opened his eyes to the darkness of the world. In a way, he had to say his thanks toward Granny Zhang.

In the next moment, Xu Binchen approached her. His tall figure loomed above her, a pair of dark eyes staring at her coldly, just like an emotionless robot. Lei Liqui's eyes brimmed with tears, fear eroded her mind. What did he want to do? What—

Xu Binchen chopped down on her neck in one abrupt moment. Lei Liqiu's body instantly slumped to the side and Ru Meiqi let her lay down on the couch. She looked at Lei Liqui's tear streaked face and sighed inaudibly.

She turned to Xu Binchen and for the first time, felt that the police were lucky to have Xu Binchen as their member. Or else…

She shuddered at the thought. "Should we proceed?"

Xu Binchen suppressed the urge to smoke again. "I think this should be enough otherwise Si Yusheng will be suspicious."

Ru Meiqi pondered for a moment and felt that he was right. They hadn't gotten Si Yusheng's full trust yet and this operation was shocking enough and not to be underestimated. They were here for the serial killer's victim but who knew that they would uncover a hidden human trafficker organization?

"We can't do this undercover secretly any longer." Ru Meiqi sighed. "It has ventured to outside of our scope. We should cooperate with Drug Enforcement Force and the Interpol." She lifted her head and asked. "Anyway, do you get the footage?"

"Yes." Xu Binchen looked down at his tie clip which had a micro camera stuck to it. "We have the record of all of their faces ready. Now, we can do our job properly."
