Mission XX: Seducing The Great Seducer

The next day, Jeff woke up some minutes to breakfast despite that he had planned to wake up very early. He hurriedly climbed out of bed, shower and got ready. After he was done he headed downstairs.

"You are awake," Mr Qin setting the table with the help of Catherine said when he saw Jeff looking around.

"Good morning uncle, how was your night?" Jeff asked with all politeness as he approached the dining table. Catherine who was previously arranging the food on the table approach the direction of the kitchen to get the remaining dishes.

"Not bad but judging from how you woke up very late I guess I don't need to ask you how was your night," Mr Qin asked playfully not taking his eyes off what he was doing.

"I am sorry I woke up late, it's just that...,"

"There is no need to explain, go help Hua to bring the remaining dishes out?" Mr Qin said not sounding cold for the first time.

"Hua? Who is that?" Jeff asked in confusion? Mr Qin abandoned what he was doing and turn to stare at him.

"You don't know whose name is that?" Mr Qin answered Jeff's question with another question.

"I...,"

"Qin Hua, that is my Chinese name. I forgot to tell you that," Catherine who just came out of the kitchen said before Mr Qin could scold Jeff.

Damn! How could I forget to ask such an important question before we arrived? I have just earned one demerit.

Jeff thought not knowing what to say to rescue himself.

"Come sit let's eat. We have a lot to do after breakfast," Mr Qin said before he sat down. Jeff quietly went to sit beside Catherine.

"Erin, why didn't you tell me that you had a Chinese name. You made me earn a demerit," Jeff whispered making sure that Mr Qin did not hear what he said.

"You never asked me and what do you mean by demerit...,"

"Are you both going to keep on whispering all day long?" Mr Qin asked firmly. The two instantly concentrated their attention on the meal in front of them.

Halfway through their meal, Mr Qin began asking questions.

"So what do you like about my daughter?" Mr Qin asked out of the blues. His question made Jeff cough badly. Catherine had to make him drink water before his cough gradually reduced.

"Dad, I have told you not to question him anymore and look at what your questioning has caused. What...," Jeff quickly nudged her as a signal for her to stop talking.

"I am fine. I just choked on my food. Uncle is not to be blamed," Jeff said mellowly.

"But...,"

"If it is my question which made him cough then that means he doesn't even know why he likes you so why should I allow such a man to court, my daughter?" Mr Qin asked to the annoyance of Catherine.

"Dad, he is not like you think...,"

"Erin, please let's not fight over breakfast. Your dad meant no harm and like I said he had nothing to do with why I choked. I was just a little taken aback by his question that is all hmm," Jeff said in a bid to calm the angry lady down. Mr Qin watched keenly to see whether Catherine will calm down.

"You have only met him once so I wonder why you are taking his side. With the way you are acting, I have this feeling that you both are gonna gang up on me a lot in the future," Catherine said before she went back to eating her food.

"Isn't it a good thing that your dad and I get along well?" Jeff asked playfully.

He really knows how to handle this daughter of mine temper, this is great!

Mr Qin said before he continued eating. He knew that Catherine will eat him up alive if he ask Jeff questions again so they ate in silence.

When they finished eating Jeff assisted with taking the dishes to the sink. He even wanted to join her to wash the dishes although he has never done such a thing before Mr Qin called him back.

"Come sit here and talk with me while you let Hua do the dishes," Mr Qin said before he stood up and approach the couch.

Mr Qin chatted with Jeff while Catherine did the dishes. They were chatting happily for ten minutes until Catherine finished doing the dishes.

"Dad, aren't you supposed to be arranging the hall for the students who will be arriving in a few hours?" Catherine asked curiously on realising that her father was still chatting with Jeff.

"I recall telling you that I was ill so how do you expect me to clean the hall for the taekwondo students?" Mr Qin asked shifting his attention to his daughter.

"Wasn't that your excuse to make me come home. Also, you don't really look like someone who is ill," Catherine said as she approached where both her father and Jeff were sitting down.

"And who says I was lying? My back hurts and so are my joints. I have been struggling to move about, I am sure you haven't noticed it because you don't care about your beloved father anymore," Mr Qin said as he faked a painful expression.

"Dad, stop using emotional blackmail on me because you know that it won't work. Only Jasmine always fall for these tricks of yours but not me," Catherine said carefreely as she sat on the opposite couch.

"Young man, can you see how heartless the lady you are in love with is? She doesn't even care about her darling father now that she is all grown up," Mr Qin said faking a painful expression.

"Uncle if Erin won't help you with the work, then I will. You just need to tell me what you want me to do and I will do it...,"

"Hey Frey, do you even know what you are talking about?" Catherine asked in shock when she heard Jeff obliged to do the work.
