Little Miss Witch: Revenge of the Tainted Angel

Shen Zichen paced around the corridor outside the private room where his wife was being attended to by his fellow doctors. Up to their arrival at the hospital, Li Chuntao had remained unconscious, which bothered him a lot. 

She should have woken up by now. It was Li Xiuying who couldn't swim and who would suffer from panic attacks when it came to being submerged under water so why did Chuntao remain unconscious? 

In the hallway, Li Yuren and Zheng Yue were also present. The party abruptly ended as soon as the commotion at the pond happened. No doubt it would fill the news the next day and 'Li Xiuying' would once again be the talk of the town. 

Zheng Yue sat on a bench, worriedly waiting for the doctor to come out of the room to inform them of Li Chuntao's condition. 

A moment later, Shen Zichen heard hurried footsteps coming their way. He lifted his head and saw his parents, his mother had a worried expression on her face. 

"Is she alright? Did the doctors say what is wrong with her?" Madam Shen took his hand and glanced at the closed door. 

His parents had made sure that the police would apprehend Yao Qigang and gave them the lead about the scheme to kill Li Xiuying by premeditated accident. 

Since the man attempted to kill 'Li Xiuying' again, his crimes would be piled up together with the sexual harassment cases against him by several young aspiring actresses he'd taken advantage of. He wouldn't be able to save himself and escape this time around. 

"We're still waiting, Mom." Shen Zichen answered her. He also had no idea about what was going on inside that room. 

Her whole body was trembling from cold the moment they emerged soaking wet from the pond. When the nurses took her from his arms, Zheng Yue gave him a change of clothes, asking him to go change while they were waiting. 

Half an hour later, the doctor stepped out of the room. Shen Zichen jolted up and met her halfway. 

"How is she?" He asked. He was sure he wasn't the only one worried about Li Chuntao right now. He wouldn't be at peace until he was sure that his wife was safe from danger. 

"She's safe now but I suggest letting her take some time off from work. Lady Li is a bit malnourished. This would affect her pregnancy if it persists. Anyway, the baby is currently fine and safe. Aside from being dehydrated, there's no other issue with her health." 

The moment the doctor mentioned about Li Chuntao's pregnancy, Shen Zichen zoned out. His mind was practically blown and he was rendered speechless from the news. It made sense to him now why she was under the weather these days and she was always tired and sleeping. 

Shen Zichen heard Zheng Yue gasp beside him and saw her covered her mouth in shock. 

"She's pregnant? That's good news!" She exclaimed as she hugged Li Yuren with a wide smile on her face. 

Taking a glance at his wife's uncle, Shen Zichen noticed that the seemingly cold and silent man was also pleased with the news of Li Chuntao's pregnancy. 

"I've already expected that this would happen Yi, but I'm still not ready to become a grandmother yet," Shen Zichen heard his mother confess to his father in a hushed voice. 

Shen Yi wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close. 

"Don't worry, dear. Even if you become a grandmother, you're still a beautiful one." 

The doctor congratulated him again and shook his hand before leaving them. They were allowed to see Li Chuntao inside the room. She was attached to an IV and was sleeping peacefully, not aware of the fact that she was carrying Shen Zichen's child for the second time. 

Her wet clothes were changed into a hospital gown and he noticed that her face was now getting more color compared to the past days he'd seen her. He should have expected that this would happen, considering the fact that they couldn't get enough of each other. 

Ever since their wedding night a few weeks ago, they were like hormonal teenagers exploring each other like it was their first time. He made love to her every chance he got, whether it was at their home or in her office at Li Corporation. 

They made love to each other like rabbits on steroids, so what would happen when two consenting adults had sex without using protection? A baby! 

Shen Zichen sat on the vacant chair next to the hospital bed and held her hand. They hadn't talked about having children after their wedding and Li Zirui's death was still painful for the two of them. 

This time, he wanted to be there beside her as the pregnancy progressed. He could never return to the time when she carried Zirui, when she had needed him the most, but not this time. 

"Oh my god! A baby! I think this is the greatest birthday gift Chuntao would ever receive." Zheng Yue exclaimed but was hushed by Madam Shen.

"Hey, lower it down! Chuntao needs a lot of rest. It's a good thing we managed to find out soon this time." Madam Shen said, hinting reference to the first child Shen Zichen and Li Chuntao lost a few years ago.

The two then proceeded to plan what the baby would need and what kind of clothes and necessities they should prepare before Li Chuntao gave birth. 

It was also a sight to behold, seeing Li Yuren and Shen Yi in the same room, both with ugly expressions on their faces. Totally not pleased with how their wives suddenly casted them aside and focused on discussing the baby. 

Shen Zichen shook his head, a slight smile spreading on his lips. 

'Women. They lose their minds when it comes to adorable babies.'

He sat there, feeling confused about what he should feel. He should be happy that his wife was pregnant, but he was also angry at her for subjecting herself to such a dangerous scheme. 

What would happen if he hadn't rescued her in time? What if she wasn't lucky this time and paid the price with her life? He would never forgive himself if ever harm befall upon her under his watch.

Shen Zichen didn't think he would be able to live another day without her and would blame himself for his own incompetence in protecting her. His whole body trembled with fear at the thought of losing her, losing their baby. 

He looked at his sleeping wife and felt his heart clench in a vice grip like pain, skipping a beat after knowing that he almost lost her in her hunt for revenge. 

When Ying died, he was the one who forced her to continue to live with the purpose of revenge, now, he wanted nothing of it. He wanted her to live for him and for their unborn child. 

From the first moment Shen Zichen had laid his eyes upon her decades ago, he'd known that there was something special about Li Chuntao. Something about her he found alluring. It sang to him and made him a whole person, alive. 

At first, he thought that by merely having him in her presence would be enough to satisfy his curiosity, yet the moment she flew off, away from him, left a gaping hole in his chest no matter how hard he tried to convince himself that it was Ying he needed. 

Shen Zichen leaned back in his chair and shut his eyes, taking a deep breath to steady his frayed emotions.. He would need to be strong enough for her sake this time.
