Chapter 120

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Hiro decided to run instead of having to slash the monster that was using Liberty’s body, face, even voice.

He was running away from a monster for the first time in his life in the LSO world.

This monster was quite cunning. It really played with Hiro’s mentality and beat him with the best attack ever. Monsters with artificial intelligence that could think in such cunning ways were far more terrifying than the boss monsters Hiro had faced so far.

Hiro was back in search of the real Liberty. He was sure Liberty was around that area, in the ruins of the old building, because the monster must have seen Liberty before it could accurately copy her appearance.

He kept running until he didn’t realize there was a big boulder in front of him. He tripped over it—

Crash!

Hiro fell to the ground with his face first.

[Health -25]

He groaned, then tried to get back on his feet. However, as he was about to get up, his eyes caught sight of the shape of the rock that knocked him down.

The stone looked strangely detailed, like a bald-headed human. Even the expression on the stone looked very genuine, as if the head was transformed into stone by magical power. It looked like a masterpiece sculpture compared to ordinary stone.

Hiro walked over to the rock to look at the other smaller stones. He just realized, after taking a closer look, the small stones were shaped like insects. They looked exactly like the real one.

Some were like bees, beetles, grasshoppers, and even butterflies.

His latest discovery made his heart, which had been pounding hard since Liberty disappeared, now beating crazily.

Hiro scouted around that area. He checked that place until he found several stone statues of human arranged in neat rows in the corner of the room.

“No…No…”

Hiro ran over to the row of stone statues anxiously. And his knees immediately felt weak when he found a statue that he really didn’t hope to be there.

The statue standing in the very front row was someone he knew well, someone he was looking for.

Liberty.

The look of fear on the girl’s face was perfectly etched into the stone statue. Her clothes were gone. The human-shaped statues in the back row were the same. They were all women, and naked.

Hiro hugged the statue of Liberty out of guilt. He regretted having accidentally taken the girl into a dangerous dungeon.

“Ha ha ha ha.”

“You found the real one. Don’t I look much prettier than those stones?”

The monster appeared behind Hiro. It still used Liberty face. It seemed the monster really liked Liberty’s appearance.

Hiro clenched his fists in rage. His body was boiling. It was hard to hold himself down anymore. His muscles tensed. Hiro couldn’t wait to tear apart the monster into nothing.

“Medusa.”

“I know who you really are,” Hiro muttered with his jaws clenched. Slowly, he released his arms on Liberty’s perfectly petrified body.

“Wait for me, Libe,” he whispered softly.

“Wow. You know who I am. Great! How do you know, huh? I’m sure I hid it well.”

That was right. Hiro was completely unaware that the fake Liberty in front of him was actually a monster. Or was it not? Why didn’t the system give him the information when the monster first appeared?

“Ha ha ha.”

It laughed loudly. Yet, the serious expression on Hiro’s face didn’t change.

“I won’t let you live.”

Hiro shot forward while swinging his blood-eater vampire greatsword.

The monster didn’t have time to dodge and —

SPLAT!

[Fatal Damage]

Hiro slashed it right in the waist. Making its body split in two in the air and blood gushing out profusely.

The monster screamed in a deafening voice that hurt the ears.

Meanwhile, the blood that had stuck to Hiro’s blade had been sucked away by the special ability of the sword.

However, the monster was still not dead. Its two bodies that were cut in half transformed back into their original form.

The top part turned into a woman with a head occupied by dozens of green poisonous snakes that looked furious. It hissed and tried to throw their venom at Hiro, while the lower part turned into a huge and long snake tail.

In split seconds, the two parts of the body wriggled and moved on their own, then it reconnected into one. This time, the monster showed its ghastly true appearance.

Ding!

[New monster information has been unlocked]

[Level 45. Medusa The Cursed Witch]

[Race: Demon]

Hissss!

The monster hissed, then it pulled out a weapon from empty air. A long spear with a very sharp tip.

Clank!

Hiro managed to stop the spear’s attack with the blade of his greatsword. He really planned to do everything in his power to finish off the monster and inflicted a terrible death on it.

Clank!

Hiro twisted his body as well as his sword towards Medusa after using the spear as a foothold.

SPLAT!

SPLAT! [3x Critical Hit Combo]

SPLAT! [4x Critical Hit Combo]

The damage from Hiro’s attacks with his sword increased. It was all thanks to the basic attribute conversion of Spyro, who was flying by his side with a cute, angry face. Even though the baby dragon still didn’t have the ability to fight. Its presence made Hiro feel stronger.

Medusa had a hard time dodging.

And when it was completely cornered, Hiro activated his unique sword skill right away.

Ding!

[Boss HP has been revealed]

SPLAT!

Hiro quickly thrust his sword vertically from under Medusa’s jaws.

[Fatal Damage]

The venomous snakes that had been trying to attack him all this time suddenly went limp, then froze into stones.

Medusa just stared at Hiro blankly. Before its body was petrified, Hiro pulled out his greatsword, which instantly sucked Medusa’s blood until nothing was left.

Then, the monster was completely turned into a stone. And as the medusa completely turned into a statue, Hiro slashed the statue with his sword.

Splat!

The statue of Medusa shattered into shapeless boulders.

Ding!

[You have obtained Lucifer’s sigil (Acc) – Tier A]

Hiro didn’t check the promising item he had just received right away. He was more worried about Liberty’s condition for now.

He immediately ran towards the row of stone statues. Back to where Liberty was, waiting for him in the same place.

“Libe.” Hiro tried to call out to the girl desperately and cupped her face, which was still a perfect stone.

However, nothing happened. Liberty was still a statue, and Hiro didn’t know what to do.

Until suddenly—

Clink!

A green light appeared in front of him. It floated and widened even more.

“Thank you, Nightfall. You have defeated The Cursed Witch with your overwhelming strength.”

“I am Freya, The Goddess of Love and Fertility.”

“As a gift, I grant you one special wish. Please tell me your wish.”

Hiro stared at the greenish light with a look of despair. However, he believed the light was a goddess, and his wish right now was only one.

“Her name is Liberty. Medusa had turned her into a stone. I beg you, return her to normal.”

“I knew you would ask for that. I can feel true love from deep in your heart. I will bring her back. Liberty, that girl is very lucky to have you.”

The green light suddenly descended on the top of the statue of Liberty and enveloped her with a bright and dazzling green aura. Hiro stepped back with great hope.

He could feel the warmth just by standing near the light. He never thought he would meet a goddess who could grant his wish, because in the real world, he was an atheist.

[Your wish has been granted]

POOF!

The light suddenly disappeared, and Liberty was back. The color of her body came back gradually. However, the girl staggered and almost fell to the ground, if only Hiro hadn’t caught her on time.

“Libe.”

No answer.
