Last Shelter Online

237 The New Beginning

Hiro was taken aback by Alice’s story. Everything he experienced in the game, all the disasters that quickly destroyed this world from within, could also have an impact in the real world. Even the news had spread everywhere.

Now, when he checked the world map again, everything was still foreign to him. He didn’t even know where the Beginner Town was and where the cities of the bloodlines were right now.

There was no clue at all until Nyx suddenly appeared in front of him.

“Nyx, is that you?” Hiro doubted if he could summon the fairy who had just appeared before him with the same nickname. Although the size was the same, the appearance was completely different.

Nyx, who was more like a tinker bell, looked like a scary little monster right now. Its eyes had been replaced with a pair of buttons and were dark. Its body was completely robotic with no skin all over its body. And it had changed its cloth into something that looked like an old sock with holes in it at the first glance.

“Hello again, Nightfall Player. My name is Nyx, I am the asdroid from the Last Shelter Online.”

Even its voice had changed to that of a very stiff robot right now. No more adorable little girl’s voice. Hiro arched an eyebrow. Even Nyx was affected?

“Hiro, I think it knows something.” Alice told Hiro to listen to the asdroid a little longer.

“Welcome to the Last Shelter Online: The Dark War. Here, I bring you something important to read before you play the game.”

Ding!

[You have obtained a guide book]

A thick, hardcover black book appeared in Hiro’s hands. He then opened the contents of the book, and his eyes widened when he saw the first page.

[The world of the Last Shelter Online has been devoured by 10 demon kings who have great power. With their power, the world was destroyed and became a very terrible place to live in.]

[No player will be able to leave this world without eliminating the 10 demon kings that caused the damage. Challenge them in a life and death battle at the deadly tower located in the Dark Zone. That’s if you know how to get there without getting killed on the way.]

[Your possessions, houses, bars, residential buildings, marketplaces, have all been taken over by a monster working under the influence of the demon king of the kings, Lord WynterRain. Defeat the monster to claim yours, if you are capable of doing it.]

[Every weekend, come and gather at the ruined town square for a chance to challenge one of the demon kings without having to come to the deadly tower. Every victory would bring an enormous and unfathomable reward, and every defeat… only eternal death awaited the challenger]

“What the hell is this?” Hiro turned back to the second page, and he was once again surprised to see the avatar image in the form of a black silhouette with a name written underneath.

[The demon king of the kings, Lord WynterRain]

[Bloodline: Dark Elve]

[Level [Unknown]]

[Power level [1st]]

Hiro raised an eyebrow. Dark Elve. So, the person who met Sathanas at that time was Yuujin? He was an elve who had defiled her own bloodline with the addition of demonic powers? Hiro didn’t know that something like that could happen, but… did that mean he was an elve who had the power of a bloodline demon as well?

Power level. What did it mean?

Hiro touched the question mark next to the word and a new piece of information appeared above the book. It was a transparent screen.

[Power level is the level of power possessed by the 10 demon kings who occupy the deadly tower]

Thus, Hiro then knew that Yuujin was the strongest, and that didn’t need to be seen through the power level.

“There is no more penalty for players killed in the game. All areas were now categorized as non safezone. And every player who dies, will really die. Just be careful not to be killed by the monsters or worse, the players.” Nyx told extra information which made Hiro and Spyro look at each other questioningly.

[Nyx time has run out]

[the asdroid must return to its house]

Poof!

Hiro blinked his eyes. Nyx then disappeared, leaving behind a painful flash. It made him have to adapt again to the current dark lighting.

The orders written in the book were very clear. Hiro instantly drifted off to read whatever was there without missing a single page. The rules for getting LSC and increasing progressive stats were still the same, no significant changes. The notable change was just about the monsters. They were everywhere now, and that made Hiro feel that his current position with Liberty was not safe.

“We have to move right away,” Hiro said to Spyro who had just returned from flying high in that place to take a wider view.

“They’re everywhere. You’re so lucky to end up here, Hiro. I can see some people are already fighting monsters that you don’t seem to have seen before,” Spyro explained, providing the latest updates. Hiro nodded in understanding. It seemed that the difficulty level of the monsters that roamed around in the game was also increasing. There was no time to relax now.

Just as he was about to lift Liberty’s body, the girl suddenly moved and almost made Hiro drop her.

“Libe?”

Hiro brought his face closer to examine Liberty more closely. He lowered the girl again on the hard, dry ground below.

Liberty’s eyes seemed to move, and she slowly opened her eyelids. Hiro was very relieved to see that the girl was fine. He waited while holding his breath when the girl tried to adjust her eyes with the surroundings light.

“Hiro, what happened?” Liberty groaned and tried to sit up. Hiro didn’t stop her. He also needed to make sure that the girl was okay, and it seemed his guess was right. The girl was fine. Liberty could move easily, as if she had just woken up from her sleep.

“Are you okay?” Hiro asked to confirm what the girl was feeling right now.

“Yes yes sure. I am all right. But what’s going on here? Where are we?”

Hiro didn’t answer right away, instead he pulled the girl into his arms. He’s fine. I hope the others are fine too. I don’t want to see anyone else die in my life.

“I thought I had lost you, Libe.” Hiro tightened his embrace until the girl felt suffocated and repeatedly patted Hiro’s hand to release her.

“No, you won’t lose me, Hiro. What do you mean? Don’t confuse me even more,” she said in annoyance, then pushed Hiro’s body away. “Now you have to explain what really happened right now. Don’t cover anything up!”
