Kiss Me Not

Chapter 214 - So You Remember?

"Once you visit, you can bring Cain with you," Leila said with a wide grin.

Kimmy eyed her suspiciously. "Why should I bring him?"

"He's your boss. As a mother, it's only right for me to thank him for taking care of you," her mother replied as an excuse.

Leila couldn't help but wonder how long they were planning on keeping their relationship a secret. She knew that she should be patient for her daughter's sake. If she made a move on trying to keep them close, Kimmy would definitely hate it.

On the other hand, knowing how her mother had always been, Kimmy couldn't help but doubt Leila. Her mother may look suspicious but… what if she was wrong about her mother? What if she was just overthinking things?

Kimmy decided to observe her mother instead whenever they meet.

After bidding goodbye to Princess Leila, Kimmy and Cain went to the parking lot. Upon entering the car, they headed back to the hospital.

On their way, they passed by a restaurant to grab some food since it was already lunch by the time they left the palace.

It was easier to act as if nothing happened between them whenever they were in the presence of others but when they were left alone, the awkward atmosphere filled them both again. At least that was how Kimmy saw it.

"Say, Cain…" she said as she paused from eating. "Can I have a day off?"

Cain turned to her, lifting a brow. "Haven't we discussed this already?"

She pouted. "I was just trying my luck. I was hoping that you could reconsider."

"Have I overworked you?" He asked as he lowered both his fork and knife.

"Not really."

"I have also given you a chance to spend a night however you want, remember?" Although they both knew how that night ended.

Kimmy couldn't help but flush when she recalled what happened that night. It was how her attraction towards him started. It was all because of her drunk self, initiating the kiss.

She sighed in defeat. Guess there was no way of talking her way out from what he was saying.

"But if you want to visit your mother, that's fine." He picked up the knife and fork before he continued to slice onto the beefsteak he ordered.

Kimmy's face lit up. If she said that she wanted to visit her mother then wouldn't that be like a day off instead? Visiting her mother didn't entirely mean that she had to stay there the whole day after all.

"But I'll be coming with you," Cain added, causing the hope in Kimmy's eyes to disappear.

"Never mind." She blew a raspberry before she continued to eat instead.

It was hopeless for her. She wouldn't be able to escape Cain's reins while she was working under him.

"I can allow you a day next week, however you want, but you will have to bring me with you," he stated before eating the piece of meat he sliced up.

He was going to make her fall for him and to do that, he would need to step up his game.

"Can't I spend the day by myself?" She faced him with a puppy look in her eyes.

He chuckled. She was adorable when she looked at him that way but of course, it wasn't going to work on him. "I promised your mother to keep an eye on you. I'm a man of my word."

"I don't need a babysitter you know." She huffed.

The side of his lips curled up into a smile. "I'm not going to babysit you. You can view it as having a date with me so be grateful."

It was a good thing that Kimmy was not eating or drinking anything or else, she would have choked already. "D-date?"

Cain remained calm in his seat despite the chaos inside him after realizing what he just spurted out to her.

Date? Why would he even say something like that?!

He cleared his throat to keep his composure. "I mean, you can spend the day however you want, I'll just be accompanying you so wouldn't it be like a date more than babysitting you?" He reasoned out.

Cain was hoping that Kimmy would be convinced with what he said. He felt embarrassed to the point where his ears turned red despite the calmness on his face. Oh, how he wished he could dig a hole and hide instead.

"I-I see…" Fortunately enough for Cain, Kimmy decided not to think too much about what he just said.

Although for some reason, Kimmy couldn't help but feel a tinge of disappointment in her chest but she decided to brush it off.

"Will I have the whole day for myself?" She asked, kind of diverting the topic away from the 'date'.

Cain bobbed his head as he replied, "yes. I will clear my schedule for that day."

Kimmy cupped her chin as if to think about it. What he was offering didn't seem bad at all. It was going to be like a day off… except for with him tailing her around.

"Can I have two days?" She grinned at him.

He raised a brow. "I've given you an inch and yet you're taking a mile?"

A pout formed on her lips. "If I'll have a hangover, I want to have the next day off as well. It will be a rest day for me."

"You mean… You're planning on clubbing again?" He knitted his brows together in a deep frown.

"I want to party with my friends. Don't worry, I'll be careful this time. I won't drink too much so that there won't be another kissing accident."

"Huh. So you remember?" Cain raised a brow.

Kimmy covered her mouth upon realizing the words that slipped out. She had forgotten that she was lying about forgetting what happened that night. Oh how she wished she could just take back her words or maybe even make him forget them!

"Oopsie?"
