Journey Towards Greatness

Chapter 288 - Cynthia Vs Paul (2)

Paul got his mind back to the battle and sent out his next pokemon, he sent out his Weavile as his second pokemon.

Weavile being a Dark, Ice-type should have an advantage over a Dragon-type but does type even matter when faces with pure raw power that Garchomp holds.

Paul "Weavile use Icy Wind"

Weavile send out cold powerful wind towards Garchomp but it just stood there and blocked its eyes from getting hit by the wind, it wasn't even fazed by that attack.

Cynthia "Now Dragon Rush"

Garchomp charged towards Weavile as blue energy covered its body and it charged like a missile.

Paul "Use Ice Beam to deflect it"

But to his surprise, his Weavile didn't even make a move as it was frozen on the stop by Garchomp's pressure.

It just stood there like a practice target and got blown away and hit the ground fainted.

Seeing his second pokemon taken down so easily he gritted his teeth again.

Paul "Can't even listen to my command in battles, you are useless as well"

He says and calls Weavile back to its Pokeball.

This time even Cynthia frowns seeing how Paul treats his pokemon, Julian who is watching this also sighs.

Julian 'He doesn't hate his pokemons, he just doesn't know how to treat them properly, some of his pokemons might get used to this but some may leave him, well it will still come down to him and his pokemon at the end, I have nothing to do with other people's matter'

Paul takes out his third Pokeball and tossed it in the air to reveal his third pokemon, a Murkrow.

Paul "Murkrow use Wing Attack"

Murkrow charges toward Garchomp and uses Wing Attack.

Garchomp once again just stands there and deflects the Wing Attack with its blade-like fins.

Paul "Use Brave Bird"

Cynthia "Giga Impact"

Both Pokemon uses their move and clashes in mid-air, Murkrow just gets dominated as it's Brave Bird shatters and it is sent flying and gets knocked out.

Paul doesn't waste any time and calls back his Murkrow and sends out his next Pokemon, Torterra.

Seeing the Torterra Julian is impressed by how healthy it is, it should at least be at the level equal to a gym leader's ace pokemon.

Paul "Use Mega Drain"

Torterra roars and sends out glowing veins and wraps Garchomp and starts to suck up energy from Garchomp, Garchomp grits its teeth and stares at Torterra.

After a few seconds of being held in the Mega Drain, Garchomp went to its knee.

Seeing the chance Paul made his next move.

Paul "Now Frenzy Plant"

Torterra slams its front legs on the ground and suddenly huge roots come digging out of the ground and charge towards Garchomp, everyone thought that Garchomp would get hurt but to their surprise, Garchomp just blocked all the root ends with just its blade-like fins.

Everyone are shocked seeing this, Garchomp gets back to its feet and destroys the Roots.

Cynthia "Brick Break"

Garchomp takes the sky and its blades glow bright, it comes down and slams down on Torterra's head with a powerful Brick Break, with this move the Torterra flips and falls back, fainted.

Paul saw his strongest pokemon go down in just one move so he decided to give up.

Paul "Its no point of continuing this battle, I forfeit"

He says and sends his Torterra back to its Pokeball.

Ash then rushed towards Paul.

Ash "You should take your pokemon to the pokemon center to heal them up"

Paul "Its none of your concern"

He says and walked past Ash, Ash seems to be very frustrated seeing how Paul treats him.

Cynthia watches this and tells Paul to go to the pokemon center as well, seeing Cynthia also advising him, Paul says nothing and walks towards the direction of the pokemon center.

Cynthia walks back to Julian while Ash and his friends follow Paul.

Julian "You know you could have finished it faster"

Cynthia "I could, but I didn't want to destroy his confidence"

Julian "You shouldn't worry about that, from what I saw he is full of himself, a hard blow will bring him back to the track and stop him from thinking about always winning and battling"

Cynthia "What you said is true"

Julian "You should go and check on him, I also have to leave I have other things to do, I will be leaving as well"

Julian says and walks away as well with Infernape and Shinx.

Cynthia "Wait -"

Before she could finish saying anything Julian has already left.

Cynthia "Well next time then"

Julian walked back to his hotel and on his way, he saw something that caught his attention.

A huge poster on the billboard, he looks at it and smiles.

Julian "Interesting, a Pokemon Tag battle competition, I haven't seen something like this before, it seems to be held every 6 months"

Julian looked around the poster and noticed the price money, it is a trophy and 50000 Pokedollars which will be divided into two so that both trainers who win the tournament will get an equal share.

"Excuse me"

Suddenly Julian hears a voice coming from behind.

He turns around to see a short middle-aged man wearing glasses and a cigar in his mouth.

Middle-aged Man "You are Mr. Julian right?"

Julian was surprised by this, he didn't expect anyone to recognize him when he was wearing his mask.

Julian "How did you recognize me?"

Middle-aged Mana "Haha, I was right, I and my daughter are your biggest fan, we have watched all of your battles, we can recognize you by just looking at your back"

The man says and laughed.

Julian 'That's scary'

Maddy "My name is Maddy, I am the organizer of this tag battle tournament"

Julian "Oh Mister Maddy nice to meet you"

Julian says and shakes his hand.

Maddy "Mr. Julian I want to invite you for dinner if you don't mind, my daughter will be very happy to see you if you don't mind"

Julian thinks about it for a few seconds.

Julian 'Well it's just a dinner, and having a friendly relationship with a rich man might come in handy, he seems to be influenced as well'

Julian "Ok, I will join you for dinner"

Julian said and smiled.

Maddy "Haha, my daughter will be very happy, thank you for excepting this request".
