Chapter 21: A Bold Plan
Catherine was now wearing an ordinary gray T-shirt and loose, wide-legged pants.
She was now dressed more comfortably compared to the black halter-back dress she wore at the casino yesterday.
“What is your plan now?”
Kota picked a leaf from a tree branch and asked while holding it in his hand.
“Go back and tell Grandpa that Coster is a traitor.”
Catherine didn’t even think when she spoke.
Her hatred and disgust towards Coster had reached its peak.
“Idiot.” Kota shook his head.
“No wonder people say that the more beautiful a woman is, the more brainless she is. I thought you would be better.”
“You!” Catherine raised her eyebrows. She was heaving with anger.
“You stay at Grandma Churchill’s house for a day and go back tomorrow.” Kota whispered his plan into Catherine’s ear.
Catherine nodded as she listened and occasionally frowned.
After a long while, she kept shaking her head.
“No, if that’s the case, you might put yourself in danger.”
“Are you worried about me?”
Kota threw away the leaf in his hand and asked with a smile with his hands in his pockets.
“Me? Worried about you?” Catherine denied it.
However, she vaguely found that this man seemed to have walked into her heart gradually.
The plan that he had just mentioned was… was too dangerous. But it also seemed to be the only way.
Under normal circumstances, at this time tomorrow, Ying Corporation would invite guests from all over the world to announce the news of Catherine’s verbal engagement with the heir of Heavenly Punishment.
Kota’s plan was for Catherine to rush back before the reception.

“You are the evidence,” Kota said.

“Then, in front of everyone, you expose Coster’s real identity,” Kota said with a wicked smile. “I bet that when you expose his actual name, Coster definitely could not resist revealing his identity.”
“As a traitor of Ying Corporation, your grandfather would suspect him and investigate him.”
“In this way, Coster is a traitor of Ying Corporation. His reputation will be ruined, and your grandfather will naturally punish him.”
Catherine frowned and said, “So what? My grandfather will still force me to marry the heir to Heavenly Punishment.”
Kota shook his head. “After Coster is dealt with, you will first solve the internal problems of Ying Corporation, then announce the second shocking news.”
“What?”
“You are to cancel the engagement.”
“What?”
At first, Catherine’s voice was still normal. But when Kota told her to cancel the engagement, her voice went a pitch higher.
“Is this your way to save Ying? You are trying to kill off Ying!”
“This is the second plan.”
Kota smiled. “You are to give me a cover identity.”
“How?”
“After you announce the engagement cancellation and before anyone knows how to react, tell them that your fiancé—me— is the heir of a wealthy family from Washington.”
After saying this, Kota looked relaxed.
Catherine was dumbfounded.
That was a bold plan.
This guy was audacious.
Catherine’s shock was within Kota’s expectations.
However, if he wanted to use Catherine as his stepping stone, he could not just let Ying solve all the problems by themselves and not support them.
Besides, Ying Corporation could not solve them.
Kota had to shoulder that responsibility.
Catherine repeatedly confirmed with Kota to make sure he did not say it wrongly.
At last, Catherine looked at Kota in a daze. “Sometimes, I wonder if you really have the backing of a wealthy family from Washington. Otherwise, how could you be so confident?”
Kota smiled. “Don’t trick me into revealing my background, woman.”
The two of them had not slept the whole night, their emotions tense. Once they had worked out the plan, they both felt sleepy.
So Kota laid down on Grandma Churchill’s bed, and fell asleep at once, as if this was really his home.
Catherine also wanted to go to bed to rest for a while.
But when she saw Kota, she gritted her teeth and sat in the chair, thinking about what to do next.
Not long after, she fell asleep in the chair.
In her trance, Catherine seemed to feel that someone gently carried her and placed her on the bed and pulled the blanket over her.
But she was really too tired.
When she finally woke up, the sky had started to dim.
The sun that was originally in the East was now in the west, shining through the clouds and turned into a sea of red.
“Hey, you’re awake?”
Grandma Churchill was knitting a sweater. She was wearing her glasses and seeing that Catherine had woken up; she let out an avuncular smile.
“Where is he?” Catherine asked.
“You mean Kota? He left a long time ago.” Grandma Churchill pushed a glass of water to her on the table. “You are a lucky girl. A young man like Kota is hard to come by nowadays.”
Hearing what Grandma Churchill said, Catherine recalled that figure. For some reason, she felt a rush of sweetness in her heart.
The two of them had only been together for less than twenty-four hours. And now, when Kota was not around, she felt as if she had lost a pillar of support and a shoulder for her to lean on. She felt a sense of emptiness.
