God's Eyes

Chapter 670: Escaped

Chapter 670: Escaped

Even after Miranda had revealed the truth, she tried to put some blame on others.

Jason couldn’t help but frown seeing this, but on the other hand, it was probably a shocking surprise for her to realise how strong he truly was.

As such, he didn’t think much about Miranda’s last statement, even less after seeing her master’s expression.

The old man seemed to be staring deep into her soul which caused Jason to nod inwardly, glad about the fact that Karma still existed.

However, only a moment later, Jason turned serious once again, hoping that the old woman, who had been the most furious, wouldn’t do anything to him.

After intently listening to Miranda’s words, the old woman tried to calm down by taking a deep breath but it was more difficult than she expected.

Initially, she assumed that Jason was the main culprit, but not only did it look like he was the victim of the old man’s disciple, but the Prince, her own disciple was a perpetrator too!

As such, she averted her attention from Jason to Leo as she stared at him in fury.

With a forced calm, she asked.

“And… What does our honorable Prince think about this?”

Even though her voice was calm, her entire being was furious, and Leo clearly knew that he made a big mistake based on the way she laced her tone with contempt.

Thus, he could only answer meekly,

“Miri is right…we were at fault. We planned to test him, but it escalated a little bit…”

At that moment, the old woman straightened her back as she reprimanded him.

“A little bit you say? As if it wouldn’t be enough if you were to tarnish your own reputation, you do know what you did might have offended the auction house’s higher-ups!

Would you like to see yourself blacklisted from all auction houses in the Julandra region? And this is the lightest punishment you could get.

What if the entire Aeus race were to be punished because of your foolish act? I told you often enough that thinking before acting is the most important, even more so in your position as a Prince!!”

Quieting down, Leo couldn’t even think about saying anything that could be counted as throwing a fit against his master.

He knew that he made a mistake and it was not like he didn’t realise it before his master began scolding him either.

In the end Leo had simply underestimated Jason, thinking that everything would be fine with a little trick that forced the young golden-eyed man to expose some of his strength.

Small conflicts happen every now and then. Thus, even a little brawl between two youngsters was nothing odd.

However, the situation quickly escalated, and even Specta stage powerhouses intervened.

While the others were being lectured, Jason quietly retreated, approaching Jennifer, who looked at him with a small grin.

“Ms Jennifer, is there an issue?” He thus asked, noticeably exaggerating the tone of his voice and the way he used formalities.

At the same time, Jason was rubbing his hand that had slightly turned blue due to Leo’s firm grip.

Manifesting a small flame within the injured hand, he got rid of the ache as the flame’s soothing effect dispersed the pain he felt to a certain extent.

When Jennifer heard Jason’s playful tone, she knew that he was fine.

Shaking her head, she could only mutter, “Troublemaker”, before focusing on the situation that unfolded in front of them.

Even though Jason was not the perpetrator anymore, the fact that he had released bloodlust was evident.

Because of that, it would become slightly difficult to avoid Jason from being punished.

Fortunately, Jennifer’s worry was unfounded because the old woman was fully occupied with lecturing Leo, while the old man was already punishing Miranda with the silent treatment and a gaze that stared into her soul.

As such, there was nobody to blame Jason, except the authorities of the auction house, amongst whom one was present in Lanro today.

This was because of the bi-annual event of the auction house that had seen him in attendance.

Exactly when Jennifer hoped that the issue was solved, the doors of the VVIP lounge opened, revealing a middle-aged Devir, whose appearance resembled more to a human than his own race.

Only the dark purplish-black skin color and his wings indicated that the middle-aged Devir belonged to said race.

His expression was calm, and there was not even a single indicator to signify that he had sensed what had happened.

However, the moment the Devir’s eyes swept through the room, only to halt at Jason for a millisecond longer than anyone else, did everyone understand that he was fully aware of what had happened.

Despite that, he didn’t say anything about the incident and went about his business as several workers of the auction house walked into the VVIP lounge.

Each of them was holding one object, and it was not difficult to determine that the objects were the items the VVIPs had procured.

Thus, trying to distract himself from the worry of the middle-aged Devir commenting on the incident, Jason used his Emperor Eyes.

Within a few seconds, he had already located a young man, who was holding the Spiral Spirit egg.

It didn’t take the young man long before he found Jason, and the closer the Spiral Spirit egg came, the brighter Jason’s expression turned.

As such, he was already holding out his hands wide open to receive the egg, only to hear the young man say,

“Please verify your identity first, Sir. After that, Sir can receive his purchase against the bidden price!

Jason would have been lost if not for Jennifer who had told him why this was required.

He had been wondering why it was necessary when he hadn’t done anything to reveal his identity during the purchase.

Fortunately, he knew what he was supposed to do.

As such, he revealed his mana fluctuations which made the young worker nod his head while waiting to receive the full price for the Spiral Spirit egg.

“Here is my part,” Jason quickly said, taking out all of his wealth only to add,

“The rest should still be with the auction house. I have yet to receive the profit margin from the items I sold today!”

Hearing this caused the young man to halt in his tracks, and he didn’t hand over the Spiral Spirit egg immediately.

With doubt in his eyes, he stared at Jason, who was not sure what was going on.

Ye, instead of saying anything, he looked at the Devir with a confused expression, only to see that he nodded his head, indicating that everything was fine.

Apparently, it was not allowed to use cultivation stones that were not in one’s possession for bidding because one had to pay up front, and a lump sum to receive the item one bid for.

Only hours after the auction was held would everyone who auctioned off an item, receive the remaining profit.

Even Jennifer didn’t know that because such a predicament had never occurred in front of her. But that was only the case as she had enough funds with her.

Because of that, Jason was confused why the young man hesitated, thinking that he should know about the small fortune he had yet to gain.

However, after being handed the Spiral Spirit egg, he immediately forgot the confusion, and even the incident that had happened became less significant in his mind.

‘Finally!’ Jason thought as he looked at the egg, oblivious to what today’s incident had caused and whose interest he had attracted.
