Child of Destiny

Chapter 323 - Aerial Battle (Part 2)

...…

"Now that we already have our warm up, should we start the next round," said Shin while resting his sword at his right shoulder.

Akailu couldn't help but frown his brows the moment he saw Shin's new form. If flying pets were quite rare in the game even in the higher levels, then having a pair of wings was even more so. And from the looks of it, the wings that Shin had on his back seemed to be something out of ordinary.

But despite having a good surprise, Akailu immediately recollected himself and started getting ready for what was about to come. He was not sure how fast Shin's flying speed was, but given that he was a swordsman with an insane speed, his agility should be really high. So, his flying speed should be at least on par with his movement speed on the ground.

Having that in mind, Akailu immediately ordered his seven-elemental bird to get away from Shin and gain some distance.

Strangely enough, Shin was seemingly had no intention of chasing after him. It was as if he was purposely letting Akailu to put some distance between the two of them.

Naturally, the Beastmaster would be able to notice that. And the moment he saw that, he couldn't help but feel enraged for being underestimated. "You dare to look down on me? Who do you think you are? A f*cking Godlike Player? Let's see how you are going to manage yourself then?"

After that, Akailu immediately started sending a barrage of spells in Shin's direction while he was moving away together with his seven-elemental bird.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

This time, Akailu stopped holding back and sent everything that he got; fireballs, icicles, wind blades, water bullets, cube rocks, and lightning arrows. He was even controlling the vines of the trees below them.

On the other hand, Shin felt even more excited instead of getting nervous the moment he saw incoming attacks, especially when they were coming from every direction.

"Now, now. That is what we are talking about. Looks like I can test my limit this time," muttered Shin as he stared at the incoming attacks that were raining down at him.

Then he paused for a moment before continuing. "For starters, let's start with this."

Right after saying those words, Shin pulled the [Yamato] a little backwards while enfolding it with elemental mana that have an alternating black and white color. A moment later, he started swinging the sword forward before sending a powerful energy wave that flew towards the incoming attacks.

'Slayer Skill: (Modified) Eclipse Slash'

Swoosh!

Boom!

The energy wave devoured everything on its path, leaving nothing behind. It even flew straight towards Akailu right after passing through the barrage of skills.

"What!?" Akailu was caught a little off-guard the moment he saw the power of the energy wave that Shin had sent. Fortunately, the path of the sword wave was a little off and just brushed past on his side.

A second later, he felt an intense chill that ran on his spine the moment he suddenly realized what just happened. Then his face suddenly turned solemn and muttered to himself. "That is a very strong sword wave. I'm sure that I am going to suffer a huge amount of damage even if I somehow survived that attack."

After that, he saw Shin looking back at him while resting the [Yamato] on his right shoulder. And despite having a long distance between the two of them, or even if Shin was currently wearing a mask, Akailu could still feel a mocking look from him.

– "Is that all you got?" – Akailu felt that Shin was saying those words directly to him.

He didn't just become enraged this time; he went berserk not only emotionally, but also virtually (physically) because he immediately used his berserk skill when he realized that he was still being underestimated.

His pets also entered their own berserk states at the same moment he activated his berserk skills.

Due to that, the threat level of all of his monster pets had gone up on another level. Especially his seven-elemental bird who now had its wings enfolded with seven-colored light. At the same time, there were also seven spheres revolving on its back, representing the elements that it could control.

"Oh~!" Shin suddenly became even more interested the moment he saw the change of appearance of his opponents. Then he suddenly flipped the sheath of his sword and held it into a forehand grip before changing its form into a longsword.

'Legacy Skill: Mondi's Style: Meteor Form'

Then right after the sword of his sheath took its longsword form, Shin immediately activated one of its active skills, resulting for his body to be enfolded with a transparent aura.

'Weapon Skill (Sword: Nemesis Nullifier): Nemesis Stance'

-----------------------

Nemesis Stance (Active/Buff): After activation, you will receive a 50% elemental defense against all elements. And if you have a high affinity for that certain element, you will become immune against that element instead.

Duration: 15 minutes

Cooldown: 3 Hours

-----------------------

Then Shin immediately flapped his wings powerfully and launched himself forward with a great speed.

When Akailu saw that, he quickly ordered his seven-elemental bird to send a barrage of spells towards his opponent. But this time, the spells that his monster pet had sent were entirely different from before; each of those spells was a sphere of compressed energies of different elements.

Shin squinted his eyes when he saw the incoming elemental spheres. One look from them and he could immediately tell that these spells were much stronger than the ones that Akailu had sent earlier.

Given that, Shin didn't even think twice as he chose to immediately dodge. He flapped his wings to do some aerial maneuvers to avoid getting hit by any of the incoming spells.

The elemental spheres looked like a bunch of homing missiles as they chased after Shin, refusing to let him go. But with just a couple of twists and turns that Shin did in the air, none of these spheres found their targets.

Seeing that, Akailu increased the number of attacks that he was sending, trying to increase the pressure that he was giving. And it immediately showed its results when he saw Shin stopping from time to time to either block or deflect the elemental spheres that he couldn't dodge.

Even if Shin was able to limit the damage that he was taking to its lowest, he was still feeling the pressure that his opponent was giving. But even if that was the case, he was still wearing a huge smile behind his mask.

Ironically, Shin seemed to be enjoying the battle despite getting a pressure that was becoming much heavier as more time went by. And due to this, he started to become bold and tried to hone his ability to hold himself during an aerial battle.

Due to this, he became more familiar with most of his Combat Techniques. Given that, he managed to improve the 'Infinity Edge' the most, which was the technique that he was using the most.

On the other hand, his Movement Combat Techniques were quite useless in this aerial battle since they were meant to be used on the ground. But even if that was the case, Shin still managed to create a new pair of combat techniques inspired from them. And it was the one that he was currently using.

After a few more minutes of battle, Shin was able to gain an initial mastery over these new combat techniques. And with their help, he was now able to dodge almost all of the incoming spells without having much problem.

Naturally, Akailu was able to notice the change in Shin's movements. "Huh? He can dodge most of my attacks now? Tsk! Battling this guy is becoming more and more problematic as the time goes by."

After that he took a quick look at his status and saw that the duration of his berserk state was about to come into an end. Then he suddenly muttered to himself. "I guess it is time to decide the victor of this battle."

Akailu observed Shin's movements a little more before ordering his seven-elemental bird to halt its attacks. After all, he was just going to waste the remaining energies that his monster pet currently had if kept attacking Shin this way.

What's more, he could also tell that he was just being used as a training machine to improve Shin's techniques. So, he rather stopped attacking now and conserved his energies than to help his opponent to become stronger.

Seeing that Akailu stopped attacking, Shin also stopped moving and looked at his opponent. Due to that, the aerial battlefield suddenly turned silent.

A moment later, Shin suddenly started smiling even widely before muttering. "So, you wanted to end this now, huh? Fine by me. I already enjoy this battle enough after all."

After that, Shin flapped his wings downwards to launch himself up in the air. Then he drew a huge arc in the sky before sending himself towards Akailu with an unstoppable force.

On the other hand, Akailu gave an order to his monster pet. Getting the command, the seven elemental bird opened its beak widely before sucking a huge amount of the elemental mana that came from all directions.

When the accumulation of powers reached its peak, Akailu pointed his index finger at Shin and signaled the seven-elemental bird to release the elemental mana that it gathered.

Shriek!

'Monster Pet Skill: Compound Elemental Beam'

Then a beam of seven-colored light flew towards Shin's direction. And when he saw the incoming attack, Shin gathered the powers of the Black Sun and Silver Moon on each of his swords.

After that, Shin swung both of his swords in an opposite diagonal fashion and sent a pair of huge black and white sword waves forward.

While travelling towards the incoming beam of light, the two sword waves suddenly intervened with each other and fused together before transforming into a giant cross that was rotating rapidly.

'Self-Created: (Modified) Eclipse Cross'

Boom!

A huge explosion was created when the giant cross and the huge beam of light collided against each other. At the same time, there was also a giant cloud of burning smoke accompanying that explosion, which blocked Akailu's line of sight.

The Beastmaster was currently squinting his eyes as he looked closely at the burning cloud of smoke. He had his guards up if ever Shin suddenly attacked him out of nowhere. But he was unable to react in time when a streak of light suddenly came out for the cloud of smoke before flying straight to him and piercing through his body.

A moment later, Akailu's sight suddenly turned dark as he heard a system notification that was saying he lost the battle. "What kind of speed was that?"
