Child of Destiny

Chapter 210 - Battle Against Immortal (Part 2): What Is This?

..…

When Shin saw that Immortal had used one of his berserk skill, he knew that he could make a change only if he increased his speed to the limit. That put him in a dilemma. He was forced to consider whether he should use the current best moment speed enhancing skill or the 'Mondi's Movement Legacy Skill'.

As a matter of fact, he could use the other moment speed boost from his other set, but that meant he would have to give up the berserk skills and domain skills that he currently possessed. It was because, switching out the equipments and weapons that he currently wore, would result to the deactivation of the item's buff skills. He could only add on to the current equipment set that he was wearing at that moment.

Subtracting an item from that set was currently impossible. Much less, swapping it with another set. Well, there's always an exception in everything, and the one for this situation would be if Shin had a skill that let him swap his equipments freely, without affecting the activated effects on the items that were going to be swapped.

And stuck on these facts, Shin was contemplating on a difficult decision, which was whether to take a risk to use that boosting skill now, or to risk using it later. Well, he was putting his life at risk either way. If he used the skill now, he needed to end this battle quickly, which was pretty much close to impossible. If he planned to use it later, he needed to survive till the end of the battle, in wait for the last minute, which was also going to be really difficult.

"D*mn! This is really going to be hard. Looks like I have no better choice but to hold myself for as long as I can before activating the 'Mondi's Movements - Legacy Skill'," muttered Shin to himself while taking a quick look at his skill arsenal. He then proceeded to transform his swords' sheath into a semi-transparent longsword.

'Legacy Skill: Mondi's Style: Meteor Form'

Immediately after transforming the sheath, Shin gathered a pair of opposing Mana from his surroundings, the fire and water/ice elemental Mana. And while doing that, he was also focusing the elemental Mana on each of his swords. The [Yamato] was suddenly set ablaze with a dancing black flame while the [Snowstorm Edge] was exuding a very cold and chilling glow.

'Epic Combat Technique: Eclipse Wielding'

Shin took a deep breath and regulated his breathing before entering a very focused state. With that, he entered into the state he had gone into while fighting against Rhaba. Then he let loose his Aura Manifestation at the very next moment, and a pair of them at that. One was a Majestic White Tiger, while the other was a Vicious Black Panther. This time, even if he was still not aware that he had a dual manifestation of auras, he knew that his Aura Manifestation was somewhat became even more stronger than what it was used to be.

"Oh~!" On observing this, Immortal raised one of his eyebrows. His expression seemed to show as if he had found something very interesting. "A twin Aura Manifestation? It looks like this battle is going to be a very entertaining one."

He was patiently waiting for the opponent to attack this time. And the latter didn't seem to disappoint him. At the very next moment, Shin immediately started attacking Immortal. He sprinted forward with a very high speed, trying to get near his opponent as soon as possible.

Naturally, Immortal would not let him to get near just like that, so he tapped the bottom of his bone scepter twice on the ground, summoning a bunch of black spheres in the air. Unwilling to wait anymore, he ordered those spheres to rush towards Shin, with a single thought in his mind.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

When Shin caught sight of the incoming black spheres, he quickly waved his swords left and right, as if he was preparing to handle them. Just when they were about to reach him, he quickly swung both of his swords in an alternate manner to either deflect them away, or let them collide with each other. He was also destroying them completely with a single strike of his sword from time to time.

'Epic Combat Technique: Infinity Edge'

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Even though Shin was able to move forward, his advance was greatly slowed down by the barrage of black spheres that were sent by Immortal. What's more, the latter was also slowly increasing the pressure that he was giving, until Shin was forced to halt his charge completely and focus only on defending himself.

Naturally, it was quite favorable for Shin to just hold himself against Immortal for as long as he could, until he found a good chance to use the movement speed boost that he had. But there was also another reason why Shin hadn't attacked Immortal directly; to attract the latter's attention and let his Phantom Clone lay out an ambush.

But that was easier to said than done, especially when he was up against someone at Immortal's level. The Lich God was able to see through such an obvious scheme. And that was also why Immortal would always send a bunch of black spheres in the Phantom Clone's direction before it could even get near him. And in actual fact, it was being suppressed even more than him actually. Because Immortal was quite focusing most of his attacks whenever the Phantom Clone entered his range of attacks. It was as if Immortal wanted to end the clone as soon as possible.

Now that the battle had reached this point, Shin was starting to see the real gap between him and Immortal in regards of battle prowess.

With that, Shin came to a decision. He decided to use the movement speed boosting skill on his arsenal.

'Legacy Skill: Mondi's Movements'

Bang!

As soon as Shin activated this skill, he immediately broke away from the barricade of the black spheres that had been attacking him.

And before Immortal was able to adjust to Shin's new speed, Shin had immediately sprinted forward once again, while taking zigzag turns at this moment of time. If observed carefully, Shin was leaving a bunch of overlapping shadow afterimages behind with each step.

'Legacy Skill: Mondi's Movements: Illusion Steps'

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Immortal became a little surprise at the sudden turn of events. He quickly tried to put more distance between him and Shin when he saw that the latter was coming after him with that kind of speed. But before he was able to cast a teleportation skill to escape, he saw from the corner on his eyes that the Phantom clone was also doing the same thing as Shin, and was charging at him from the other direction.

With the two incoming opponents from each side, the places where Immortal could teleport to became limited.

Immortal paused for a moment. He didn't know why but he kept having a feeling that it would become a little messier if he chose to teleport backwards, and the same if he went for the forwards.

Hence, Immortal made a move based on his experiences. He didn't move even for an inch from his current spot and just raised his bone scepter in the air, while chanting out a few necromantic words.

Immediately, a bunch of bone spikes shot up from the ground and formed a circle with a radius of ten meters around Immortal.

He then slammed the bone specter on the ground in such a manner that it created a large spiderweb crack on the hard ground beneath him, slowly extending towards the bottom of the bone spikes surrounding him.

The bone spikes instantly closed all the gaps and turned into a circular wall that hid Immortal behind it.

'Grand Necromancer Skill: (Modified) Wall of Bones'

Shin was considering whether he should use the 'Moonlight Steps' to get through this wall or destroy it directly using one of his powerful offensive skills. But before he was able to decide, a bone-chilling feeling ran down his spine, on feeling a death threat, when he was five meters away from the bone walls.

And without further ado, Shin immediately controlled his main body and the Phantom Clone. Both of them simultaneously activated the 'Moonlight Steps' and quickly moved away from wall of bones.

Bang!

At the next instant, the wall exploded and shattered into pieces, sending the bone fragments in all directions, followed by a black miasma that was slowly spreading out from the center of the shattered wall of bones.

With the threat he felt, Shin was forced to stay away from that miasma and observed it from afar. After few more moments of wait, the black miasma was sucked back once again.

It didn't take long for Shin to see Immortal's figure once again since the black miasma started to settle down. But he could still feel the immense threat coming from the latter's body, even though he was currently standing far away from that guy.

When the miasma had completely disappeared, Shin was able to see the new form of his opponent. Immortal didn't look like an undead now. His current look was somewhat similar to a demon. His skin was still as pale as the human corpse had, but his eyes were crimson red. There was also a pair of horns on his forehead, curving upwards.

As second later, Immortal directed his sight at Shin and made all of the nerves on the latter's body scream 'danger'. It was as if Shin's instincts were telling him that he didn't stand a chance against this guy.

"It looks like I can't prolong this any longer. I need to end this right now," Immortal spoke to Shin. The playful attitude that he had before was no longer present, he was now a being full of arrogance.

He hadn't put Shin in his eyes in the first place, he was just a little curious about why the War God had been too optimistic about him. Now that he had gotten an idea, he learned that Shin was somewhat talented, but that was all in that. He was still too far from being a threat to someone like him, or even to his first five apostles.

He had already obtained what he wanted, so he didn't feel the need to continue wasting time on him and this battle. He was also battling Simba with his other body after all, so he couldn't let something unexpected to happen.

What's more, he also just received a message from one of his subordinates that the 'King' was getting anxious about something. There were some troublesome guys that entered the Holy City.

Well, this news came a little late since Simba of the Temple of the War God was already here and currently doing some mess. What made him even more concerned was the report was also saying that there were also some sightings of the Saintess of the Church of Light and the Sword of the Supreme Temple.

But even if he was in this form, Immortal became a little surprised at what he saw when he got a closer look at Shin.

It was because instead of getting scared at him, he could tell that Shin was feeling something entirely opposite.

It was as if Shin was excited. As if there was something that was awakening inside him. It was screeching in excitement and bloodlust.

Even though he wasn't really aware of it, Shin felt that his body was acting a little abnormal. 'What is this? What is this that I am feeling? Is it because it's been a while since I've experienced this kind of situation? Or is it because I haven't sensed this kind of danger since long? Either way, I feel like I am reverting to what I used to be.'

While all these thoughts were running in Shin's mind, an unknown power surged in him as he looked at Immortal with a pair of eyes that was composed with the mixed of intense excitement and anxiousness.
