Chapter 321 – Cat Dad’s Cliché Encounter with a Rich Family

Ten minutes later, the local officers brought five elderly men in the area to the park in front of the station. Many officers ensured the elders that they brought them here to test if a superhero’s power could heal them as Xiaomao had claimed.

Out of the five elders, one came here in a wheelchair. Two suffered from Alzheimer’s and one was half-blind. The last elder had an erectile dysfunction issue.

All elders came here with their caretakers. A total of 20 people waited in the park, curious about the so-called superhero.

Not only the elders and their caretakers were there, but news journalists also crowded around the park as they came here for Xiaomao’s scoop. They wanted more stories about the emergence of a superhuman and the mysterious monsters, including the recent anomalies in the world.

Soon, Jin Ijin and Xiaomao walked out of the station. The news reporters and journalists swamped them right away.

“Sir, what are you fighting for?”

“What kind of superpower do you have?”

“Are you planning to change your nationality from Chinese to Korean?”

“Will you join the army after this?”

Speculations, guesses, and random thoughts of the journalists were reflected in their questions. They bombarded Xiaomao with as many questions as they could, hoping to get at least one answer.

Jin Ijin raised his hands and pushed the crowd away. He spoke in a clear voice, “We haven’t finished the investigation yet. We will now test his abilities to see if his testimony is correct before the agents from the central arrive to take over the case.”

“Sir, does that mean his power harms people around him?!” One of the news crowd shouted and raised his voice recorder.

Jin Ijin frowned as this question might put Xiaomao in a bad spot. As the press often bullied crime suspects even though they were innocent, innocent people always went through hardship as the internet and society already judged them as real criminals.

If Xiaomao ended up becoming a bad guy in society because of one news reporter, Korea might face a disaster.

“Silence!” Ijin lashed at the reporters. “We will hold a press conference after we’re done investigating. Officers, I need you to escort them out!”

The officers behind Ijin cooperated with the detective. They gently gestured for the journalists to leave while they escorted the elders and their caretakers to the back of the station.

However, Xiaomao had another idea.

“Let them stay, munya.”

“Miao Xiaomao! They will destroy you! The news is cancer to innocents in crime investigations!” Ijin turned around, looking troubled. He was worried that Xiaomao was inexperienced in dealing with the mass.

“I’ll be fine, munya. Let the world know that I exist!”

Seeing the determined look in Xiaomao’s eyes, Jin Ijin pursed his lips and deeply sighed.

“I’ve warned you. They will do anything they can to sell their news. They will lie. They will wrongly accuse you. They will frame you even if you’re innocent!”

“If those rotten news stations do so, let them, munya. This is the 21st century. People are smart enough to choose which news stations they believe in, munya.”

“That’s impossible. I know and they know it, too. Humans are easy to be misled with just fake information.”

“Trust me, munya. I have my way of dealing with those pesky journalists.”

“…”

Ijin gave up persuading Xiaomao. He was crestfallen.

“Alright. Fine. Have it your way. But be warned, though. If you intentionally harm those elders, I’ll freaking shoot.”

Xiaomao raised his brows. He shrugged, “I thought Korean cops don’t carry guns.”

“We DO carry guns, and I have the authority to use firearms. You are a wanted terrorist, so…”

“Make sense, munya. Alright. I won’t disappoint you.”

Xiaomao calmly pushed through the crowd of reporters and walked toward the group of elders, who had been waiting for him.

One of the half-bald elders suffered from the 4th stage of lung cancer. He sat in a wheelchair, relying on a ventilator to breathe and prolong his life. He gazed at Xiaomao through his eyeglasses as if he wanted to make one last bet of his life.

His caretaker was a young man in his late 20s. He wore a black Gucci suit. Behind him, a burly man stood straight like a soldier. He also wore a similar black suit, but the bulgy part on their chest revealed a handle of a concealed gun.

Song Hyun Woo was the grandson of a conglomerate pioneer, Song Yang-Cheol, who was sitting in a wheelchair, waiting to gamble everything for a miracle.

Song Hyun Woo stared at the young man before him. He bitterly smiled, “I have heard everything from the cops. If you can heal my grandfather, I’ll do everything I can to help you. If you want South Korea, I’ll buy it and hand it over to you on a silver platter.

Hyun Woo’s remarks didn’t escape the sharp ears of the journalists. They clamored and took hundreds of pictures, recording the interaction between the young billionaire and a sketchy superhuman.

Xiaomao gazed at the elder and smiled, “I don’t feel a ghost from your grandfather. Don’t worry about the repayment. I’m doing this for myself, munya.”

Song Hyun Woo nodded and stepped aside, letting Xiaomao do his things.

Xiaomao knelt in front of the elder and held his hand. He muttered, “It might hurt a little. You might vomit some impurities out, but that’s normal. Once everything is over, you can thank me later, munya.”

Song Yang-Cheol stared at Xiaomao with weary eyes. He slowly nodded and glanced at his grandson.

Song Hyun Woo placed his hand on his grandfather’s shoulder, ensuring him.

“Harabeoji (Grandpa), it will be alright.”

“…”

The interaction between the grandfather and the filial grandson touched the crowd of journalists. They also glared at Xiaomao, warning them with their look. If a mishap occurred, they swore that they would do everything in their power to destroy Xiaomao’s fame.

Xiaomao ignored the hostile look of the news reporter. He summoned the Light Element Avatar.

An eyeball with six wings appeared in front of the crowd. It stared at Song Yang-Cheol.

A light beacon descended on the elder as Xiaomao limited his domain range to avoid complications. Xiaomao held his breath and closed his eyes, praying that Song Yang-Cheol could survive the purification process. He also took several steps back to avoid getting himself dirty.

“PFFT!”

Song Yang-Cheol instantly vomited black fluid. He coughed and almost fell off his wheelchair.

“HARABEOJI!”

Song Hyun Woo knelt and checked his grandfather’s condition.

MURMUR

The journalists gasped in shock, but they recorded everything. They also made sure to zoom in on Xiaomao’s face, recording his facial expression.

Xiaomao slowly opened his eyes. His hand secretly entered the game inventory menu, picking up a healing potion, just in case.

Fortunately, his worry was in vain.

Despite vomiting black fluid and severe coughing, his wrinkled skin smoothened. His grey hair turned black, and a section of his bald head grew new dark hairs. His eyes regained light, and the corners of his mouth curved up.

“Hyun Woo…”

“Harabeoji?”

Although Song Yang-Cheol’s hospital gown was covered by a black liquid, he was overjoyed.

“It’s not painful anymore.”

“… Does that mean?” Hyun Woo widened his eyes.

“My chest feels light! I can breathe!”

Song Yang-Cheol pulled out the tubes from his nostrils. He pushed the breathing machine away and grabbed the wheelchair handle. With a push, the old man stood up and deeply inhaled.

“I AM ALIVE!”
